Final Verdict
This is the first time we've reviewed TP-Link's products. They are lesser known in the consumer space than the bigger players, but we can safely say that the products are good and the support for their products with the MyKasa application is great. The only thing missing right now is IFTTT support, but I bet that's coming soon. What you do get is integrations with Alexa and Google Home. The level of integration allows you to control entire rooms with ease by voice. The TP-Link LED bulb LB130 retails for about $50 (Amazon) and the smart plug HS110 retails for about $30-$40 (Amazon). These are good prices compared to the competition.
The MyKasa application is very polished and the ability to control devices all at once in a unified way makes sense. You want to set the mood for a party? Create a "party" scene and just pick it. All the devices will follow the directions. The devices also support the standard scheduling and away modes. Remote control is a given. You can also opt for local network only mode which means the device will not accept commands from the internet. This is a good feature for the security conscience. We like what we see from TP-Link's smart home products and if you want to venture off into smart home technology, this is a good place to start.
ASE Publishing would like to thank TP-Link for making this review possible.
