Telect nrgSMART(TM) Enclosures and Power Systems Provide for More Efficient Use of Energy at Cell Sites
New Product Line Manages Wireless Network Equipment
LIBERTY LAKE, Wash., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Telect, a global supplier of connectivity, power and rack/enclosure products for the communications industry, today publicly released a new line of power systems and enclosure solutions engineered specifically to conserve energy and provide management of equipment in communications network outside plant applications.
The new nrgSMART(TM) power and enclosure systems provide power measurement and intelligent coordination of power usage at cell sites, including alternative energy sources. nrgSMART systems deliver an architecture for overall enterprise value by being adaptable to the unique requirements of individual sites.
"The Telect nrgSmart approach is to provide adaptable solutions that address the technical needs of individual sites, while providing a common system architecture for our customers," said Randolph Wright, Telect's program manager of power and enclosure systems.
Core components comprise nrgSMART power system solutions:
-- High-efficiency/compact power systems: Utilizing the latest in
rectifier/controller technology, these systems offer features and
efficiencies that place them at the top of their class in outdoor plant
power solutions.
-- Connections: Cabling, bus bars, etc., required to connect equipment at a
typical cell site.
-- System controller: Manages multiple energy sources (traditional utility
power, solar, wind, fuel cell) and output loads to outside plant
equipment (radio, transport, etc.).
-- Outdoor enclosure: Engineered to provide highly flexible configurations
that occupy minimal space, optimize thermal design and enable field
upgrades with minimal effort.
Many hundreds of Telect nrgSMART enclosures are already deployed throughout North America as part of a product development program between Telect and wireless service providers. Telect's product roadmap includes more nrgSMART products for other network power applications to be released in the future.
"We are pleased with the success of nrgSmart in the field," said Paul Knight, Telect's vice president of product management and marketing. "Many of today's 'green' solutions provide a strong long-term outlook, but the initial investment can be prohibitive. nrgSmart is available right now and meets the budgets of today."
Telect is formally launching the nrgSMART enclosure line at the OSP Expo trade show in San Antonio October 13-14 (booth #457).
