PopCap Adds Blockbuster Franchise Peggle(TM) to Its List of Titles for Zeebo
Plants vs Zombies(TM) and Zuma's Revenge(TM) Also Coming in 2010
SAN DIEGO, March 9 -- Zeebo, Inc. today announced PopCap Games, maker of some of the world's most popular video games, has added its blockbuster Peggle(TM) franchise to its existing catalog of games on the Zeebo system. Zeebo, Inc. is the maker of the Zeebo 3G-connected digital gaming, entertainment and education platform. The system was developed exclusively for emerging global markets and is currently selling in Brazil and Mexico. A cult favorite among hardcore gamers and casual players alike, Peggle is now available for purchase and download directly to the Zeebo system.
PopCap has already launched its popular titles Bejewled Twist(TM) and Heavy Weapon(TM) in both countries via Zeebo. In addition to Peggle, PopCap will also be bringing Plants vs Zombies(TM) and Zuma's Revenge(TM) to Zeebo later this year. Plants vs Zombies, a new action-strategy game, was recently named one of the Top 10 Games of 2009 by 1Up.com. Zuma's Revenge is the sequel to the ball-blasting classic and delivers exciting new boss battles and power-ups.
"PopCap is known worldwide for its extensive line-up of fun, challenging titles that entertain people of all ages," said Mike Yuen, senior vice president of global content and services, Zeebo, Inc. "We look forward to working with PopCap to continue to deliver on the Zeebo promise to bring top quality content to the emerging middle class. Peggle, Plants vs Zombies and Zuma's Revenge will be fantastic additions to the Zeebo catalog."
"Zeebo is expanding the boundaries of distribution by not only being digital, but also 100 percent 3G wireless," said Andrew Stein, director of mobile business development at PopCap. "We are thrilled that we can work together with Zeebo to bring our brands directly into the emerging market living rooms of families in Brazil and Mexico and provide them with hours of engaging game play they should really enjoy."
Peggle for Zeebo
Since its introduction in February 2007, the Peggle series - inspired by the classic gameplay of pinball and pachinko - has been downloaded more than 60 million times for PC/Web and has garnered more than a dozen awards from leading industry critics.
The Zeebo edition of Peggle brings all the compelling game play action of the original PC version, including 55 levels of ball-bouncing madness, 10 unlockable Peggle Masters, Quick Play mode, Duel mode, and 55 Challenge mode levels.
The Zeebo platform fosters the development and monetization of local content by preventing piracy through fast and convenient shopping via secure 3G broadband wireless cellular connectivity and over-the-air delivery. Connectivity is provided pre-activated for the system, and the consumer does not have to sign up for any additional service plan or contract. Content delivery and user interface software updates occur over the wireless network and are completely transparent to the customer. They simply plug the Zeebo into their television set and the system automatically connects to the ZeeboNet Wireless Network.
