RA'ANANA, Israel, June 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
NICE Systems (NASDAQ: NICE) today announced that the city of Glasgow is deploying its
security solutions to enhance the community's safety and security infrastructure. The
implementation, which includes NICE Situator
[http://www.nice.com/situation-management/nice-situator#pr_11.6.14 ] and NiceVision
[http://www.nice.com/video/nicevision-net ] for video management, will help the city
strengthen its daily operations and streamline incident response.
Glasgow was recently awarded funding from the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) Future
Cities Demonstrator competition to show what can be achieved by innovative use of today's
technology.
The city is using NICE Situator, an advanced Physical Security Information Management
(PSIM) system, to consolidate data from various city-wide services like Public Space CCTV
and traffic control within a single operations center. This information is filtered into
pre-defined response plans to help operators better manage situations in real time. It
also provides improved visibility and control of different sensors and better
collaboration across relevant security and safety departments.
This initiative fuses Community Safety Glasgow's (CSG) CCTV operation with Traffcom,
the Glasgow City Council team which monitors the city's road networks, traffic lights, and
traffic cameras. By pooling these resources, CSG and Traffcom now have joint access to the
city's entire network of live and recorded CCTV footage.
As part of the GBP24m Future Cities Glasgow program, the city will also install an
advanced digital camera network to be integrated with Situator. Any unusual activity that
is detected over the cameras will trigger an alarm in the command center, prompting
further investigation by emergency services.
Phil Walker, Managing Director of Community Safety Glasgow
"The NICE solutions will enable us to address safety and security requirements, and
beyond that the solutions can be further scaled in the coming months and years to help us
improve city services and crime prevention. We have also been impressed with NICE's
ability to help us deploy the solution in a short amount of time."
Chris Wooten, Executive Vice President, NICE Security Group
"This deployment reinforces our expertise in helping cities around the world manage
day-to-day life, as well as large-scale events, from both a security and operational
perspective. We are very pleased to be a key player in safeguarding the city's facilities
as well as the huge influx of visitors that are expected this summer, and look forward to
a continued partnership with the city of Glasgow. Glasgow is the first city in the UK to
earn a 'Safe City' status, fully utilizing the capabilities that NICE Situator can
provide."

Qualcomm Introduces High-Performance, Cost-Effective Small Cell System-on-Chip for SMB and Neighborhood Access Points for Expanding Network Capacity and Coverage
Industry-First 28nm Neighborhood and SMB Small Cell SoC Combines Qualcomm's Cellular and Wi-Fi Technologies to Provide Mobile Operators, Carriers and Businesses a Way to Address Growth in Mobile Data Demand
SAN DIEGO, June 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced that its subsidiary, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., has introduced the Qualcomm® FSM90xx system-on-chip (SoC) for neighborhood and small and medium business (SMB) small cells. From its inception to implementation, the FSM90xx has been designed and optimized to meet the cost targets and performance requirements of neighborhood and SMB segments. The FSM90xx is designed to provide specific features so that original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) can deliver the right form factor and application for the target use cases. The FSM90xx leverages LTE functionality from the FSM99xx, which was announced last year and is commercially available now. With access points (APs) based on this new small cell SoC, mobile operators, cable multiple systems operators (MSOs) and businesses can expand network capacity and ensure superior end-user mobile experiences cost effectively.
With the evolution to LTE networks and the growing use of bandwidth intensive applications, mobile data traffic is expected to increase exponentially. Calling this the 1000x data challenge, Qualcomm Technologies has been innovating to deliver small cell technology that helps operators, OEMs and ecosystem companies address the growing consumer demand for data. Organizations must find new ways to add network capacity in order to address the expanding demand for increasingly higher quantity and quality content from mobile devices inside homes, across neighborhoods and in SMBs, where the majority of data is consumed. Small cell deployments in these environments are designed to reduce the cost of service delivery, help open new revenue opportunities, and improve the end-user experience with faster mobile broadband services and better quality voice connections.
The FSM90xx is designed to help network operators augment their existing cellular networks while providing cellular and Wi-Fi® connectivity support. Enabling connected experience for home and SMB users, the FSM90xx brings LTE and Wi-Fi closer together by leveraging functionality of the Qualcomm® Internet Processor (IPQ), which features a powerful packet processing engine that scales to handle a variety of networking functions, including Wi-Fi and LTE. Hardware accelerators have been built into the chipset to speed up data processing for both radio technologies, which allows for significant bill of materials savings, both from a hardware perspective and in terms of reducing overall development time needed for system integration.
Of note, the FSM90xx is the only neighborhood and SMB product based on 28nm technology, enabling best-in-class power consumption and again minimizing the total solution cost for very high volume applications. It has been designed for easy integration with existing products, including residential broadband gateways and SMB Wi-Fi routers, so that software applications can take advantage of both cellular and Wi-Fi radios to deliver a better end-user experience.
The FSM90xx is software compatible with the FSM99xx to allow OEMs to expand their product portfolios by leveraging their software investments in FSM99xx. The FSM90xx also benefits from the mature LTE PHY, digital pre-distortion, low power consumption and other differentiating features of FSM99xx.
To reduce interference and maintain high service quality for dense SMB and neighborhood small cell deployments, the FSM90xx integrates advanced self-organizing networks (SON) techniques through UltraSON(TM) software. The FSM90xx can be paired with Qualcomm Technologies' RFICs (FTR8xxx) to support all LTE bands worldwide and maintains compatibility with the FSM99xx to further ease and speed OEM product development across both product lines.
"Qualcomm is bringing its mobile and networking heritage to bear for consumers, innovative OEMs, wired and wireless network operators," said Dan Rabinovitsj, senior vice president, Qualcomm Atheros, Inc. "We cannot solve the 1000x data challenge with spectrum alone. Small cells are critical to enhancing network capacity and improving mobile broadband connections. With this latest addition to our small cell family of products, Qualcomm is continuing to be a leader in the industry by delivering a segment-wide solution to enable the deployment of small cells anywhere and everywhere."
The FSM90xx SoCs are expected to sample in the second half of 2014. For more information, please visit the Qualcomm booth (stand 19) at the Small Cell World Summit, ExCeL London, June 10-12, 2014.

Fluke Networks Launches Network Time Machine(TM) LTE/VoLTE to Ensure Optimal User Experience on Wireless Networks
-- As wireless carriers fight to reduce customer churn, the new high-performance, portable solution will help them troubleshoot voice, video and data issues on LTE networks
EVERETT, Wash., June 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Fluke Networks( http://www.flukenetworks.com ) today unveiled the Network Time Machine(TM) LTE/VoLTE( http://www.flukenetworks.com/lte ), a portable LTE troubleshooting appliance that helps wireless carriers resolve network performance issues quickly and cost effectively. This ability is crucial to reducing customer churn, as subscribers who switch wireless carriers increasingly point to poor customer care and inadequate network performance as their reason for leaving. The Network Time Machine provides extensive network and application visibility, as well as the forensic details necessary to solve signaling or data performance problems in 20 Gbps carrier environments. Using Network Time Machine, carriers can measure and prove network performance, resolve subscriber issues and deliver the best possible consumer experience to meet growing voice, video, and data demands.
"The proliferation of affordable smartphones, tablets, and other devices has sparked an ever-increasing popularity of mobile videos, games, and data applications," said Amit Rao, general manager of the Carrier Wireless Core product line. "While networks have evolved from 3G to 4G/LTE to meet performance demands, network monitoring technologies have not kept pace. Network Time Machine LTE/VoLTE is the first troubleshooting appliance that can deliver the 20Gbps performance required for high-performance wireless networks andâeven more importantâfor creating loyalty among today's fickle wireless subscribers."
According to a recent Ovum survey*, 27 percent of wireless subscribers who had changed carriers in the previous month cited "low network quality/speed of the services" as their reason for switching. More than 30 percent said poor customer care was a key reason.
While today's wireless carriers need better and faster ways to resolve the network issues that drive customer complaints, most of their network engineers rely on solutions that lack capture performance or fragile appliances that must be shipped to unmonitored high-traffic LTE port locations. These tools often break and require complex configurations to make them operational.
Network Time Machine LTE/VoLTE is a rugged appliance that solves both problems. It identifies and resolves issues before subscriber frustration and churn concerns grow. The solution's unique performance bottleneck analysis (PBA) automatically discovers applications and reports performance trending metrics by server, network, and client site. These metrics show where application time is spent and immediately identifies the root cause of customer complaints about performance. Network Time Machine also provides voice and video traffic analysis and playback, enabling carriers to troubleshoot and monitor the entire triple play from a single appliance.
LTE network deployments have evolved carrier networks to an all-IP environment that encounter a host of new application and data problems, from the backhaul to the core and data centers in the network. Even if current monitoring systems can reach these regions, which most cannot, the end-to-end visibility needed to diagnose issues would suffer due to the exorbitant cost of monitoring every link and the lack of granularity needed to identify and fix the root cause. Network Time Machine LTE/VoLTE provides the application and network visibility LTE carriers need more cost-effectively and with more detailed data than other solutions.
Network Time Machine for LTE is available in both portable and rackmount platforms. For more information and detailed product specifications, visit http://www.flukenetworks.com/lte.

LOS ANGELES, June 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Umbrella USB is the 100% effective Firewall for mobile devices. When connected to any USB port, Umbrella allows power to flow so it can charge, but physically disconnects the data connections. This technology eliminates any possible data theft. "'Juice Jacking' is a new phenomenon where people can take over your phone when it is plugged into a USB charging port;" said co-founder Hardeep Johar, "Umbrella is a safe and effective way for everyone to charge their mobile device."
In addition to its protection feature, Umbrella completely stops automatic syncing including iTunes or Windows drivers. There is no app, download, setting change or charging required. Just plug it in and 100% protection is guaranteed.
Umbrella is a simple device that physically disconnects the wires in your USB cable that transmit data, and only allows contact with the wires that are for power. This physical disconnection stops malware and makes it impossible for hackers to gain access to your phone or other mobile device.
"With Umbrella, you no longer have to worry about this risk;" said co-founder Chris Higgins, "Think of Umbrella as the most affordable insurance policy you can buy!"
Umbrella is small and affordable, requires no set-up, no software, and works with literally any mobile device that is charged via USB.

The redesigned stereolithographic 3D printer offers superior prints at higher speeds.
Formlabs also announced Black resin, their online European store, a 1 year warranty, and new software.
SOMERVILLE, Mass., June 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Formlabs announced the Form 1+ today, an extensive overhaul of their flagship desktop stereolithographic 3D printer. The fast-growing 3D printer startup also announced a new material, as well as the launch of their European store.
"The Form 1+ incorporates everything that we've learned in the past year," said Ian Ferguson, Lead Engineer at Formlabs. "We've given every part of the machine another look, updating it for better performance and reliability: a new laser, a new control system, and upgraded precision and quality for dozens of components."
The Form 1+ has a second-generation laser system that is four times more powerful than its predecessor, allowing it to print up to 50% faster. It also has a redesigned galvanometer control system, so it produces models with finer detail and a smoother surface finish. Numerous other components have been overhauled to provide a more reliable printing experience.
A reinforced peel motor assembly and an all-new light-blocking injection-molded resin tank - allowing resin to be easily stored - ensure repeatable, dependable prints, and better materials care. Along with these improvements, Formlabs is proud to offer an industry-leading 1 year warranty, at no extra cost.
"The Form 1+ is a huge step for us," Maxim Lobovsky, Cofounder, said. "With the Form 1+, we're maintaining our lead in providing the most affordable, professional-quality machines to artists, designers, and engineers around the world." The machines' price remains the same $3,299, available directly from formlabs.com.
Factory Upgrade Program
Owners of the original Form 1 will have the opportunity to participate in a factory upgrade program that will bring their printer to Form 1+ specifications and grant them a new 1-year warranty. The Form 1+ Upgrade is available from formlabs.com.
Black Resin Released
Formlabs also announced the release of a new material today. Black resin joins White, Clear, and Grey in the company's growing materials library. Michal Firstenberg, a Formlabs Materials Scientist, said, "Our black resin captures details amazingly well, and has a beautiful finish and rich color. We're excited to see what people will make." The resin is available from formlabs.com for $149 USD per liter.
New Website & Software
Formlabs is devoted to providing the best end-to-end customer experience possible. In that spirit, the Form 1+ launch is accompanied by a major software release, PreForm 1.5. The updated software introduces powerful manual support controls, a much-requested feature. Formlabs also rolled-out a revamped, internationalized webstore, website, and supportcenter, to continue to provide top-notch customer support and high-quality educational materials.
Expansion to Europe
Along with new product releases, Formlabs is also announcing an expanded European presence today. The Boston-based company now offers EU-based sales, shipping and servicing, dramatically reducing the shipping costs and servicing time that international customers experience. "This is the first stage of greater expansion to come," said Luke Winston, Operations Lead at Formlabs. "We're excited to offer better service to customers around the world."
About Formlabs
Formlabs designs and manufactures powerful and accessible digital fabrication tools for designers, engineers, and artists. It was founded by a team of engineers and designers from the MIT Media Lab and Center for Bits and Atoms, and launched in 2012 in a record-breaking $3M Kickstarter campaign. Its first product, the Form 1, shipped in 2013.
TechTagger Introduces Low-Tech Solution to High-Tech Problem
MyAssetTag.com's New Product Reconnects Lost Cell Phones with Owners
NEW YORK, June 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- MyAssetTag.com introduces TechTagger, a low-tech solution for retrieving missing high-tech gadgets. TechTagger helps owners reclaim their lost or stolen devices through the use of asset tags, a small sticker with a unique barcode. When phones and laptops cannot be found through apps or GPS, TechTagger can come to the rescue.
Enrolling is a cinch: customers apply an asset tag to their device and register the tag online. When a Good Samaritan stumbles upon a lost gadget, the TechTagger tag directs them to http://www.myassettag.com/techtagger. The website prompts the individual to type in the TechTagger code and sends an email to the owner. The two parties can then communicate through a messaging system similar to Craigslist and decide on a safe, convenient way to return the gadget.
The silver TechTagger complements most Apple and Android products. The tags are made of heavy duty anodized aluminum, which is resistant to heat, abrasion, and chemicals.
"We had some reservations about launching a low-tech product that relied entirely on the honor code," said Blair Brewster, CEO of MyAssetTag.com. "I believe New Yorkers are cut from honest cloth. I'm excited to hear the success stories surrounding TechTagger."
MyAssetTag.com currently operates BikeGuard, a free national bike registry. BikeGuard's model and registration process inspired the creation of TechTagger. Both registration systems rely on the use of a small asset tag and an honest person to make retrieval successful. BikeGuard launches a private community system for all residents of Roosevelt Island in May.
"When electronic products' batteries die, retrieval apps are often rendered useless," said Katelyn Gray, Nonprofit Manager at MyAssetTag.com. "We're happy to offer a solution that works even after the lost gadget's charge runs out."
About MyAssetTag
MyAssetTag is a child company of the Brooklyn-based company SmartSign, one of America's fastest growing e-commerce companies. It creates asset labels and tags for inventory and security, making audits and tracking easy. All tags are made from durable, high-quality materials. The San Francisco Unified School District Selects Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi to Transform the Learning Experience in Massive Wireless Upgrade
Smart Wi-Fi Technology Being Used to Advance the Quality of Education for Tens of Thousands of Students and Staff within California's Seventh Largest School District
SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ruckus Wireless, Inc. (NYSE: RKUS) announced today that the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), the seventh largest school district in California, has standardized on Ruckus ZoneFlex(TM) Smart Wi-Fi products and technology to address the need for pervasive and reliable wireless performance to support some 9,000 staff and 56,000 students who live in the 49-square-mile area of the City and County of San Francisco.
According to SFUSD, the district-wide Wi-Fi project is part of realizing its plan called Vision 2025, in which connectivity is the name of the game. In the re-envisioned SFUSD, new practices and new technologies create a rich web that connects students to teachers, parents to classrooms, teachers to teachers, the District to the city and beyond. In addition, a general dissatisfaction with the coverage and performance of its legacy Wi-Fi network, based on older, conventional Wi-Fi technology, drove SFUSD to a wholesale upgrade of its wireless infrastructure.
Also operating as the County Office of Education, SFUSD operates more than 125 schools ranging from pre-schools, elementary and K-8 to middle, high, and charter schools.
"Mobile device proliferation and the push toward digital curriculum is driving schools to redesign their wireless infrastructure to meet new capacity and connectivity demands created by the BYOD phenomenon," said Erik Heinrich, director of Technology Infrastructure for SFUSD.
The bring-your-own-device (BYOD) trend sweeping through the education market is changing the face of teaching and learning as more students use their own devices at home and in school. A 2013 survey of more than 360,000 K-12 students conducted by Project Tomorrow, a leading education nonprofit organization, revealed that 80 percent of students in grades 9-12, 65 percent of students in grades 6-8, and 45 percent of students in grades 3-5 now use smartphones.
"Our legacy Wi-Fi infrastructure was never really designed to deliver anything more than basic administrative access," said Heinrich. "As the Mobile Internet began to radically change wireless usage patterns, we realized we needed a serious upgrade to keep pace."
Given the number and diversity of schools within the district, identifying a unified Wi-Fi solution flexible enough to accommodate each environment, while being able to adapt to its unique RF conditions, presented major challenges for SFUSD when considering new Wi-Fi options. Many of the schools were built in the 1930s and '40s in a variety of configurations; some covering an entire city block, with materials like lathe and plaster, cinder block concrete, and security glass with metal meshing that block or inhibit Wi-Fi transmissions.
"These are not wireless-friendly environments," said David Burns, network manager for SFUSD. "With our legacy wireless network, as the device population grew, we began experiencing severe coverage, connectivity and capacity issues. On top of that, our wireless LAN management didn't scale and was cumbersome to administer. At one point we had six different controllers to cover all these schools, along with an orchestration agent to manage all the controllers. Things simply grew out of hand."
Out with the Old, In with the New
SFUSD is now actively replacing its legacy district-wide Wi-Fi infrastructure with over 1,500 Ruckus ZoneFlex indoor and outdoor Smart Wi-Fi dual-band access points (APs). Ruckus ZoneDirector(TM) 5000 WLAN controllers, deployed in a fully redundant configuration, provide simplified management, administration and visibility for the entire Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi network.
Ruckus WLAN controllers work seamlessly with SFUSD's Active Directory (AD) domain servers to provide student and staff authentication. With an AD account, students and staff can login to the network using their own Wi-Fi-enabled devices, with predefined user policies automatically enforced. The Ruckus ZoneDirector 5000 also provides SFUSD with an at-a-glance view of the number of different types of devices being used on the Wi-Fi network, as well as the ability to define user- or device-specific access policies.
In addition, high-capacity Ruckus ZoneFlex 7372 and 7982 APs uniquely integrating patented, adaptive antenna technology give SFUSD pervasive Wi-Fi coverage, with stronger signals that provide more stable client connections at higher speeds. According to SFUSD, their new Smart Wi-Fi network is four times faster than its legacy system, and comfortably supports 10,000 or more concurrent Wi-Fi client connections on any given day.
SFUSD's new Smart Wi-Fi network also supports a myriad of wireless applications, ranging from standardized SBAC (smarter balanced assessment consortium) testing to wireless printers, as well as student and guest Wi-Fi access. Teachers, for example, can use mobile tablet devices to take attendance, access digital curriculum, and display streaming content to aid the learning experience.
According to SFUSD, with the new Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi infrastructure in place, students and staff are now empowered to collaborate and access information on the fly, wherever they are, without having to worry about wild performance fluctuations or erratic connectivity problems.
"Out of the box, the Ruckus system just works, without of a lot of kludgy configuration," concluded Burns. "The hardware effectively configures itself, while giving us significantly better coverage at a much lower total cost of ownership, when compared to other suppliers. It's that simple."
"Enabling a 21(st) century educational experience required a 21(st) century wireless technology purposely designed to deliver wireless performance and connectivity as reliably as any other utility we operate," concluded Heinrich. "This is precisely what we've been able to achieve with Ruckus."
THE SAN FRANCISCO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
Established in 1851, the San Francisco Unified School District ("SFUSD" or the "District") is the seventh-largest school district in California and educates over 57,000 students who live in the 49-square-mile area of the City and County of San Francisco. The District is governed by an elected seven-member Board of Education. San Francisco is both a city and a county; therefore, SFUSD administers both the School District and the San Francisco County Office of Education. This makes SFUSD a "single district county." During school year 2013-14, SFUSD had: 72 elementary and K-8 schools, 12 middle schools, 19 senior high schools (including two continuation schools and an independent study school), 13 preschools and 13 active charter schools authorized by the District. The mission of the San Francisco Unified School District is to provide each student with an equal opportunity to succeed by promoting intellectual growth, creativity, self-discipline, cultural and linguistic sensitivity, democratic responsibility, economic competence, and physical and mental health so that students can achieve their maximum potential.

IBM Ships POWER8 Power System Servers to Provide Clients an Open Platform for Big Data
ARMONK, N.Y., June 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- IBM (NYSE: IBM) today began shipping its next generation of Power Systems servers incorporating IBM's POWER8 processor which is available for license and open for development through the OpenPOWER Foundation.
The new POWER8-based Power Systems result from a $2.4 billion, three-plus year development effort and exploit the innovation of hundreds of IBM patents -- underscoring IBM's commitment to providing higher-value, open technologies to clients. IBM designed the new servers specifically for a new era of Big Data, allowing organizations to manage staggering data requirements. According to IBM test results, the IBM Power Systems running BLU Acceleration on Power are capable of analyzing data 82 times faster than a comparably configured x86-based system.(1)
Designed for scale-out computing environments, three out of four of the new Power Systems servers shipping today can run various combinations of Linux, IBM AIX or IBM i operating systems. The fourth model, the Power S822L, runs Linux exclusively.
"Big Data workloads require systems that scale to manage massive amounts of data," said Doug Balog, General Manager, Power Systems, IBM. "Clients are choosing to run Linux on Power Systems because they are seeking a higher value, open server solution to help them better handle and leverage growing volumes of data."
Recognizing Linux as a driving force for innovation, IBM last year committed $1 billion (USD) in new Linux and other open source technologies for IBM's Power Systems servers. Major investments include new products, a growing network of five Power Systems Linux Centers around the world, and the Power Development Platform, a no-charge development cloud for developers to test and port x86-based applications to the Power platform.
At the same time the new Power Systems were introduced in April, IBM also revealed a new collaboration with Linux distributor Canonical, the commercial sponsor of Ubuntu with more than 20 million users worldwide. With general availability today, IBM is offering the latest release of Ubuntu Server, Ubuntu OpenStack, and Canonical's Juju cloud orchestration tools on the new Power Systems servers. Ubuntu on Power Systems provides an easy migration path for existing Linux applications to Power for cloud deployments, delivering Big Data and mobile software applications and boosting the performance of existing applications across cloud platforms. The availability of Ubuntu on Power Systems complements the existing availability of Red Hat and SUSE Linux operating system distributions, already supported on the complete lineup of Power Systems.
Another Linux enhancement now available is PowerKVM, a Power Systems-compatible version of the popular Linux-based virtualization platform KVM, on all POWER8 systems that run Linux exclusively. PowerKVM complements the full open stack of software available to development, run and manage Linux on Power. Further, PowerVC, announced in October, 2013 based on OpenStack, now provides support for the new Power Systems including those running PowerKVM and Linux.
With industry-leading server quality and utilization levels, the new Power Systems line-up redefines today's data center economics - by helping to reduce floor space, power and cooling costs. IBM has designed these systems to operate at industry-leading levels of efficiency, guaranteeing the system will perform as warranted while at a sustained 65 percent utilization -- a rate higher than common x86 utilization levels.(2) With twice the data throughput compared to an x86-based server, the new Power Systems can help cut data center footprints in half.(3)
[1] Based on IBM internal tests as of April 17, 2014 comparing IBM DB2 with BLU Acceleration on Power with a comparably tuned competitor row store database server on x86 executing a materially identical 2.6TB BI workload in a controlled laboratory environment. Test measured 60 concurrent user report throughput executing identical Cognos report workloads. Competitor configuration: Ivy Bridge, 24 cores, 256GB RAM, Competitor row-store database, SuSE Linux 11SP3 (Database) and Ivy Bridge, 16 cores, 384GB RAM, Cognos 10.2.1.1, SuSE Linux 11SP3 (Cognos). IBM configuration: IBM S824, 24 cores, 256GB RAM, DB2 10.5, AIX 7.1 TL2 (Database) and IBM S822L, 16 of 20 cores activated, 384GB RAM, Cognos 10.2.1.1, SuSE Linux 11SP3 (Cognos). Results may not be typical and will vary based on actual workload, configuration, applications, queries and other variables in a production environment.
[2] Applies for 90 days following date of installation to POWER8 systems announced today that are purchased by December 31, 2014 and running specified workloads on PowerVM. Subject to all other terms and conditions of the guarantee, including a minimum purchase requirement.

ZWear.org Debuts First Quarter-Sized Wearable Development Kit Supporting Over-The-Air (OTA) Coding
ZWear.org, an organization of wearable experts, has today announced the launch of its Kickstarter campaign to bring the ZWear turnkey wearable device development kit to life
SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ZWear.org has officially announced the launch of a Kickstarter Campaign to fund production of the ZWear wearable platform. As wearable technology begins to come into its own, ZWear is set to be an immense success, enabling manufacturers, developers and even individuals to create unique wearable devices with its OTA coding. A pledge of just $25, which is only one-fourth the price of other popular wearable brackets on the market, will reserve one ZWear standard kit at an exclusive Kickstarter price.
The concept behind this Bluetooth BLE 4.0, accelerometer and GPS-ready device is to create a platform to speed up the development of wearable devices. ZWear is the size of a quarter, includes a 3-axis accelerometer and is GPS ready. Even with the rechargeable battery, ZWear can still fit comfortably inside a watch body. The inclusion of Bluetooth 4.0 BLE technology ensures that ZWear can communicate with other Bluetooth-enabled devices, including iPhones.
There are many development kits already for Bluetooth BLE technology, however most are expensive and require specialized software and experimental engineers, which may too costly for individuals, or startups to develop to develop their own wearables.
"We developed ZWear for wearable enthusiasts." said Yurong (Kevin) Xu, PhD., who is co-founder of ZWear, "ZWear is FCC certified, features a gold-plated PCB and requires no firmware development. ZWear is ready to go right out of the box. And most important of all, the price is affordable, so that all wearable enthusiasts can buy one and have a chance to make their own wearable devices."
The platform supports, for the first time, Over-The-Air (OTA) Coding with ZOS firmware embedded, featuring ZOS IDE, the first IDE runs on the iPhone and iPad, supported by ZhiOS Labs, which allows access to the source file of firmware for modification and programming via a mobile Apple device. This provides fast customization of ZWear firmware for any wearable applications in mere minutes.
ZWear intends to offer different configurations for the company's wearable platform. The standard ZWear kit will contain the main board, accessories and a lithium-polymer battery. The prime kit will add the GPS module, while the professional kit will include USB debugger.

SafeNet Solutions Significantly Reduce the Costs of Encrypting Data Center and Corporate Network Traffic with Enhanced Security, Including Metadata Encryption
BALTIMORE, June 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In order to help enterprises protect more sensitive data as it moves between data centers and across their networks, SafeNet, Inc., a global leader in data protection solutions, today announced a new range of high-speed encryption (HSE) products that enable companies and other organizations to deploy best-in-class high-speed encryption more cost-effectively for data in motion. The new SafeNet solutions can help reduce high-speed encryption costs by as much as 50 percent and are the first commercial Layer 2 Ethernet encryptors of their kind to offer transmission security (TRANSEC), mitigating the risk of communications interception and traffic analysis.
The new CN4010 and CN6010 Series encryptors, together with the existing CN6100 and CN6040 Series encryptors from SafeNet, combine certified best-in-class security, no data overhead, near-zero latency and the performance for the most time-sensitive and secure communications required by global financial networks and the world's largest Internet companies at speeds from 10 Mbps to 10 Gbps.
"There is a perception that high-speed encryption can be expensive, as small and large businesses look to protect not just data center traffic but other aspects of their network traffic," said Prakash Panjwani, senior vice president and general manager, Data Protection Solutions, SafeNet. "Our new high-speed encryption offerings erase that misconception by giving customers a single platform to 'encrypt everywhere'-- from traffic between data centers and the headquarters to backup and disaster recovery sites, whether on premises or in the cloud. With our comprehensive network traffic encryption solutions, customers can better protect their data from eavesdropping, surveillance, and overt and covert interception at an affordable cost, without compromising security or performance."
SafeNet HSE products can be used to support a wide range of network encryption applications, including:

the network needs to ensure high-speed/low latency communications while
ensuring security.
Benefits of SafeNet's HSE include:
-- Maximum Value: They provide the lowest overhead costs by delivering
maximum data network performance; lowest management overheads; 99.999%
reliability, longevity, interoperability, backward compatibility, and
quick installation.
-- Convenience: They require minimal rack space and are optimized for

They are also listed in the NATO Information Assurance Product Catalog
for the protection of restricted information, demonstrating the
solution's capabilities to deliver security without compromise.
-- Easy Management: The HSEs can be easily dropped into a network
regardless of topological complexity, and require minimal attention
after deployment. They have near-zero latency and zero impact on network
bandwidth. They also have no impact on other network assets, offering
centralized management and 99.999 percent uptime.
-- Field Upgradability: SafeNet's high-speed encryptors are designed to be
upgradeable in the field to meet Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) use cases,
and scale to meet growing bandwidth demands. The scalable encryptors can
provide throughput from 10 Mbps to 10 Gbps.
SafeNet is an exclusive international master distribution partner for Senetas Corporation (ASX:SEN) in developing, delivering and supporting high-speed network data encryption solutions.
RotoView Photo for Android provides a unique way to use your phone by tilting and movement
HOUSTON, June 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- INNOVENTIONS, Inc., an early pioneer in motion-enhanced smartphone display technology, has released its free RotoView Photo app, giving Android users a new and unique way to scroll large images by tilting the phone with just one hand. Scrolling with such natural rotation motions eliminates the need for repeated touch screen gestures that block the user's field of view and leaves fingerprint smudges and dirt on the screen.
"For over a decade we've been developing the RotoView technology and demonstrating how intuitive and efficient tilt-to-scroll gestures are for navigating smartphone displays," said Dr. David Y. Feinstein, President and CTO of INNOVENTIONS. "With the many powerful sensors now built into smartphones such as the gyroscope, the new RotoView Photo app allows us to bring tilt scroll technology to anyone."
Invented more than 14 years ago by Dr. Feinstein, RotoView is the original Smart Scroll technology for tilt and motion gestures. Since then the company has promoted the idea of adding tilt and motion gestures into the user interface of smartphones and other hand held and wearable devices.
Designed for all Android devices equipped with the gyroscope sensor, the free RotoView Photo app is available now from Google Play, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.innoventions.rotoviewphoto . A similar RotoView Photo Magnifier app is available for iOS on iTunes. RotoView technology is covered by US and European patents, and now includes extensive API protocols for both Android and iOS.
Established in 1984, INNOVENTIONS, Inc. is a pioneer in creating electronic devices for the computer industry, including the patented RotoView tilt-based display navigation for smartphones, the Sensor Kinetics app and the RAMCHECK LX memory tester.

Salesforce Wear: The Next Mobile Revolution in the Enterprise
The dramatic explosion of wearables creates a tremendous opportunity for businesses to connect with customers, partners and employees in entirely new ways. According to an IHS white paper titled Wearable Technology - Market Assessment, roughly 50 million wearable units will be sold in 2014, and more than 180 million are predicted to sell in 2018. With the massive number of devices coming into market, it is imperative that companies understand how consumers will operate in a hands-free world. Wearables are the future of mobile, and companies can now discover new ways to market, sell, service and more. Salesforce Wear will enable companies to deliver:
-- Connected 1:1 Experiences: With a connected wearable, going to a
favorite casino, resort or amusement park will mean never having to pull
out your wallet, juggle a hotel card key or search for an app. What if
it was possible to anticipate needs and give VIP treatment to any
visitor? With wearable devices like a wristband seamlessly connected to
customer data, destinations can deliver customized journeys for every
guest.
-- Contextually Aware Sales Apps: Wearables will enable salespeople to be
more connected to the digital world while being more present in the real
world. Checking a mobile phone or opening a laptop during a meeting can
be a distraction. A quick update right from the wrist can provide the
necessary information without losing focus.
-- Faster, Safer Service Resolution: Customer service will reach a whole
new level with the introduction of wearables. Remote service
technicians, such as oil rig workers or medical device reps, will be
able to access live data, review plans for the equipment they are fixing
and get real-time coaching, right from their glasses as they work. And
they'll be able to share exactly what they're seeing--completely hands
free.
-- Platform Built for Endless Possibilities: Developers will be able to
create apps that connect wearable devices to any business process. Apps
can be built for everything from a "nudge" on a smartwatch when an
urgent approval is required, to secure facilities access via a
wristband, to encouraging healthy workforces through fitness challenges
using fitness tracking devices. The possibilities on the platform are
endless.
The Salesforce Wear Developer Pack for the Salesforce1 Platform
Until now, there has not been a trusted, enterprise cloud platform for businesses that want to embrace wearables. Developers who wanted to create business-focused wearable apps did not have access to an industry leading platform, reference applications and code, ecosystem support or customer data.
Now, the more than 1.5 million Salesforce1 developers can kick-start their ability to connect companies with their customers in entirely new ways through wearable apps. Enterprise developers can immediately access a growing library of devices, sample code, documentation, demonstrations and reference apps to learn from. With the new developer pack, it is easy for developers to kick start building and deploying build and deploy exciting new enterprise wearable apps, connecting companies and their customers like never before.

Alien Skin Software Announces Availability of Exposure(TM) 6
Now includes Bokeh functionality - Updated image processing engine for instant previews - Enhanced user interface for quick workflow - Unlimited creative texture control
RALEIGH, N.C., June 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Alien Skin Software today announced the immediate availability of Exposure 6, the latest version of its flagship photography effects software. Exposure 6 enables digital photographers to quickly achieve accurate analog film emulation and creative effects in a simple interface. Exposure 6 can be used as a plug-in with popular host software or as a stand-alone program for even greater flexibility.
Exposure 6 brings all the creative tools of a traditional photographic darkroom to the world of digital, such as the look of discontinued films, printing techniques, and borders and textures. Popular classic films like Kodachrome, Polaroid and TRI-X have been carefully analyzed in order to faithfully simulate their characteristic tonal ranges and grain structures. Over 450 preset effects can be applied with a single mouse click, helping photographers achieve their desired look quickly. Exposure 6 integrates both color and black-and-white processing so there is no need to switch between tools.
Continuing the theme of integration, all the powerful functionality of Alien Skin's creative focus and lens simulation program, Bokeh, has now been rolled into Exposure, thus eliminating the need to jump between programs. As such, Exposure now provides simple tools for photographers to draw attention to their subject by manipulating focus, vignette and depth of field. From fast lens simulation through to tilt/shift and motion blur looks, Exposure 6 offers an endless array of creative options.
"With Exposure 6, not only have we worked to enhance the rich feature set available to photographers, but also to streamline the software to help them focus on creating extraordinary images faster than ever," said Alien Skin CEO, Finley Lee. "It's about understanding a user's workflow and helping photographers realize their artistic vision as quickly and easily as possible."
Along with the inclusion of Bokeh, Exposure's user interface has been refined and enhanced in order to provide better esthetics and functionality without compromising user-friendliness. A new basic control panel contains sliders for global adjustments to areas such as exposure, contrast, clarity and vibrance for faster editing. The image processing engine has also been rewritten and now offers full-sized instant previews. This makes it easy to visualize subtle differences between presets and facilitates rapid experimentation to find the right look.
Based on user feedback, Exposure 6 offers limitless variety in the ability to add border and texture overlays. Out of the box, Exposure 6 includes many new lighting effects such as realistic sun flare, and authentic vintage borders developed by world-renowned photographer Parker J Pfister. Users are also now able to import their own custom borders and textures using the built-in importing tool. Likewise, sharing and syncing presets, textures and borders across multiple computers is also now easy to do in Exposure 6.
Exposure 6 integrates with the popular tools many photographers use in their professional workflow: Adobe(®) Photoshop(®), Lightroom(®), and Apple(®) Aperture(®). Exposure 6 can also be launched as a standalone application.
To help users get started and for advanced techniques, the Alien Skin website has a library of tutorial videos and example images.
Pricing and Availability
Exposure 6 will be available for immediate download from June 10th, 2014 through http://www.alienskin.com for $149 USD. Owners of any version of Exposure may upgrade for $69 USD. Free upgrades will be automatically sent to everyone who purchased Exposure 5 directly from Alien Skin Software in March 2014 or later.

BlueOak Breaks Ground on First U.S. Urban Mining Refinery to Retrieve High Value Metals from E-waste; Closes $35M in Project Financing
Arkansas refinery will initially process over 15 million lbs. of electronic scrap per year
OSCEOLA, Ark., June 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- BlueOak Resources, a leader in the sustainable sourcing of high-value metals from e-waste, and brainchild of co-founders Priv Bradoo & Bryce Goodman, today announced it has partnered with the Arkansas Teachers' Retirement Fund, a consortium of European and domestic investors, and the Arkansas Development Finance Authority towards the build-out of the first urban mining refinery in the U.S. capable of retrieving valuable metals including gold, silver, copper and palladium from e-waste. The parties have invested an initial capital amount of $35M towards the facility. Groundbreaking takes place today in Osceola, Arkansas at 12:30PM ET and will include speeches from Grant Tennille, Executive Director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, as well as former vice president, Al Gore, a partner at existing BlueOak investor, Kleiner Perkins.
"The United States is building a domestic supply chain to tackle the challenges presented by e-waste, and Arkansas has the talent pool and business environment to attract the cutting-edge companies like BlueOak that will comprise that supply chain," Governor Mike Beebe said. "This facility highlights our commitment to bring more manufacturing jobs back to the U.S., and back to Arkansas."
The groundbreaking at the Osceola, Arkansas facility is significant as it marks the first urban mining facility of its kind in the U.S., an example of the kind of development that can reinvigorate the U.S. manufacturing sector. BlueOak's refining business model is inspired by the quintessential case study of the mini-mill disruption of the steel industry, which ushered in a new era of steel production. The distributed nature of mini-mills allowed lowest cost production of steel from recycled steel scrap. BlueOak intends to capitalize on the high demand for "technology metals" like gold, silver, copper and palladium by creating distributed urban refineries in the U.S. and throughout the world that recover high-value metals from e-waste. Production at the Arkansas facility will begin by the end of 2015, initially processing 15 million lbs. of electronic scrap per year, with plans for rapid expansion, bringing 50 high-paying technical jobs to the area.
The Heartland Renaissance Fund, Los Angeles-based National New Markets Fund and U.S. Bancorp Community Development Corporation worked together to provide New Markets Tax Credit financing that was fundamental in helping BlueOak reach today's milestone. The groups were also key funding partners in the BlueOak transaction, which was arranged and structured by Global Principal Partners. "The New Markets Tax Credits were created with the vision of empowering and driving positive impact within rural communities in the US and the BlueOak project allows us to do just that in Osceola," said Sam Walls, President of Heartland Renaissance Fund, an affiliate of the Arkansas Capital Corporation Group.
"This opportunity with BlueOak aligns with our investment goals by coupling significant economic potential with a meaningful impact on society and the environment," said George Hopkins, Executive Director of the Arkansas Teachers' Retirement Fund.
Dumping e-waste in landfills and worse, exporting it to countries where e-waste is handpicked over open fires, represents not only an environmental disaster, but also the loss of millions of tons of valuable resources. Circuit boards, cell phones and other electronics are made with sizable amounts of gold, silver, copper and palladium - high-value metals that are currently lost to landfills. And, while Europe has established a thriving supply chain around this challenge, BlueOak is the U.S.'s only urban refinery dedicated to recovering precious metals from e-waste.
"Our milestone today is indicative of a larger, more meaningful movement in which Silicon Valley meets Industrial America, a phenomenon that is crucial to retaining U.S.'s global competitiveness and fostering our work force," said Privahini Bradoo, CEO of BlueOak. "We believe that by coupling innovative technology approaches with the U.S.'s wealth of manufacturing expertise and talent we can transform what has become a crippling global problem into a tremendous economic opportunity for our investors, partners, community and country."
About BlueOak Resources
At BlueOak, we believe in the philosophy of resource and capital efficiency. We are building distributed mini-refineries that use proven, capital-efficient refining processes towards recovering high-value metal resources from e-waste. Our vision is to revolutionize how we treat end of life electronics: converting the e-waste of today into a sustainable source of critical metals and rare earths for the technologies of tomorrow. Fluke Networks Launches Network Time Machine⢠LTE/VoLTE to Ensure Optimal User Experience on Wireless Networks
-- As wireless carriers fight to reduce customer churn, the new high-performance, portable solution will help them troubleshoot voice, video and data issues on LTE networks
EVERETT, Washington, June 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Fluke Networks today unveiled the Network Time Machine⢠LTE/VoLTE, a portable LTE troubleshooting appliance that helps wireless carriers resolve network performance issues quickly and cost effectively.
"The proliferation of affordable smartphones, tablets, and other devices has sparked an ever-increasing popularity of mobile videos, games, and data applications," said Ronald Sens, director of Marketing for Fluke Networks. "While networks have evolved from 3G to 4G/LTE to meet performance demands, network monitoring technologies have not kept pace. Network Time Machine LTE/VoLTE is the first troubleshooting appliance that can deliver the 20Gbps performance required for high-performance wireless networks and--even more important--for creating loyalty among today's fickle wireless subscribers."

Quiet, Efficient and High-performing KODAK SCANMATE i1150 Scanner Helps Employees Enhance Customer Service
LONDON, June 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
To address complex document capture and management needs in transaction-based business
environments, Kodak Alaris announces today the new duplex KODAK SCANMATE i1150 Scanner.
The launch follows careful observation and understanding of customers' needs
reflecting Kodak Alaris' commitment to introduce targeted solutions and directly cater for
specific business needs. The new scanner offers transaction-based scanning along with
comprehensive and integrated barcode recognition capability - the first time Kodak Alaris
has included this in its document scanners.
Turbo charge customer engagement using Transaction Mode
The KODAK SCANMATE i1150 is specifically designed for use in customer-facing
situations where an employee needs to quickly and efficiently scan documents and ID cards
as part of a business process, so as to reduce waiting times and enhance customer
satisfaction. This could be in a retail, bank, insurance, medical or government context.
Recognising that the majority of customer transactions involve scanning 10 or less
documents, the KODAK SCANMATE i1150 features a special 'transaction mode' which boosts the
scanner's performance by 60% for the first 10 pages - equating to 40 pages per minutes
[ppm] - before it resumes its normal processing mode of 25 ppm. This avoids the scanner
becoming a bottleneck in the office and ensures an organisation can increase the number of
customers seen. The i1150 has a recommended daily volume of 3,00o pages and scans in black
and white, grayscale and colour.
Hauke Fast, Kodak Alaris' EAMER product marketing manager says, "Transaction capture
is the fastest growing segment in the document imaging industry growing 27% last year[1]
driven by organisations seeking to operate profitability in multi-regulatory competitive
environments where customer service is key. Keeping focused on the customer is a
challenge. Our new i1150 scanners help staff do this by allowing them to scan quickly and
simply without them losing focus on the person they're serving."
The new scanner is designed for front office usage and come with an integrated bar
code recognition engine supporting nine different barcode types so that documentation can
easily be filed or incorporated into workflows or line of business applications. This also
saves customers money and is the first time this has been comprehensively provided in a
Kodak Alaris scanner.
Designed for ease of use
The new SCANMATE i1150 Scanner provides unique features such as a simple customizable
icon-based colour LCD interface which helps quickly identify where to send captured
images. The built-in card ledge on the front of the scanner helps keep track of documents
with a small footprint and extremely quiet operation ensuring that users don't have to
interrupt customer conversations while scanning.
The SCANMATE i1150 is supported by a wide range of Kodak Alaris software including
one-button Smart Touch functionality, which allows users to start business processes and
scan to various predefined locations, all without the need to even open an application on
a PC. In addition, KODAK Capture Pro Software Limited Edition imaging software, a
feature-rich batch scanning solution, is available for quick and easy document capture.
KODAK Capture Pro Software Limited Edition includes barcode reading, drag-and-drop OCR for
improved indexing, full text OCR to create searchable PDFs, PDF/A support, batch
separation, and direct connectivity into Microsoft SharePoint 2013.
For remote monitoring and maintenance, the new SCANMATE i1150 Scanner works seamlessly
with optional KODAK Asset Management Software. This web-based dashboard makes monitoring a
scanner's status and performance simple. The SCANMATE i1150 Scanner also supports
additional accessories for greater versatility and ease of use, including the KODAK Legal
Size [A4] Flatbed Accessory and the KODAK A3 Size Flatbed Accessory.
Pricing and availability
The new KODAK SCANMATE i1150 Scanner is available today with a list price of EUR495.
It comes with a free three-year advance unit replacement warranty[2] - guaranteed within
four business days - upgradeable to next day delivery for EUR99 for those customers where
scanning is absolutely business critical.
The KODAK SCANMATE i1150 Scanner is compatible with TWAIN, ISIS-based scanning
applications and supports all current Windows desktop and server operating systems, as
well as LINUX.
