New Endpoint Security Product Developers' Consortium to Improve Critical Class of Security Products

scrap value in its UK business from GBP 1.4m to GBP 300K in just two years.
By April 2011 Project Enterprise aims to reduce scrap value to GBP 100K,

Project Enterprise, a scheme devised by RS Components (the trading brand
of Electrocomponents), is using new ways to clear discontinued, obsolete and
non-moving excess stock in its UK operation. Products such as electric drills
are now being sold at discounted prices on the web, at trade counters and
through third party brokers, offering customers considerable savings.

Following the Chancellor's Emergency Budget, UK businesses will be experiencing business continuity challenges for the third time in a little over two years as the standard rate of VAT is increased to 20 percent, effective on 4th January 2011. STMicroelectronics Unveils Roadmap for ARM® Cortex(TM)-M4 and -M0 Microcontrollers While Unleashing Ultimate Performance of Cortex-M3 With New STM32 F-2 Series

GENEVA, Nov. 30, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), a world leader in microcontrollers, today announced that the roadmap for its breakthrough STM32 family of 32-bit MCUs based on ARM® Cortex-M(TM) processor cores is to include new devices centered on the Cortex-M4 and the Cortex-M0 cores from ARM. In addition, ST also announced today availability of its new STM32 F-2 series MCUs that fully unleash the performance of the Cortex-M3 core.
New Cortex-M MCUs
The Cortex-M4 from ARM is an upwardly compatible version of the Cortex-M3, offering DSP instructions and a Floating Point Unit (FPU). The core will be used in new high-performance variants of STM32 products to be sampled in 2011. The STM32 portfolio will be further enriched for highly cost-sensitive applications with a new series, also sampling in 2011, currently being developed around the Cortex-M0.

New STM32 F-2 Series
ST's new leading-edge STM32 F-2 microcontroller series combines ST's advanced 90nm process technology with the Company's innovative Adaptive Real-Time memory accelerator (ART Accelerator(TM)) to unleash the Cortex-M3 core's maximum processing performance. The STM32 F-2 MCUs achieve leading-edge performance of 150 Dhrystone MIPS when executing code from Flash at 120MHz, which is the maximum performance possible from the Cortex-M3 processor at this frequency. The series also offers CoreMark-confirmed 188uA/MHz dynamic power consumption, when executing from Flash, equivalent to drawing 22.5mA at 120MHz. In addition to offering on-chip memory densities that are among the highest of any Cortex-M3 based MCUs available, the new series provides enhanced support for imaging, connectivity, security, audio and control applications.
For many applications, the STM32 F-2 MCUs offer the perfect balance between performance, dynamic power consumption and cost, which has been confirmed with the news that more than 20 of ST's customers are currently ramping up manufacturing of new products enabled by this new STM32 family.

Japan to Start Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting in Spring 2012 under ISDB-Tmm Format
TOKYO, Nov. 30, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Multimedia Broadcasting, Inc., which has adopted the ISDB-Tmm standard for multimedia broadcasting, has been commissioned as the sole carriage operator providing nationwide multimedia broadcasting services for mobile devices scheduled to start following the termination of the analog broadcasting service in Japan. It is the direct result of active efforts by the ISDB-T Multimedia Forum, a group of about 80 companies organized to promote the ISDB-Tmm standard.
The ISDB-Tmm standard is a member of the ISDB-T family of digital terrestrial broadcasting technologies. As it is going to be put into commercial use in Japan, there is a growing hope for the adoption of the ISDB-Tmm standard in Latin America, where the ISDB-T format has been adopted, as well as in other parts of the world.
In Japan, Multimedia Broadcasting, the newly commissioned carriage operator, and other members of the ISDB-T Multimedia Forum have been engaged in a wide range of activities targeted at commercial broadcasting services starting in the spring of 2012.
<ISDB-Tmm Standard>
The ISDB-Tmm standard employs the concatenated transmission method which, combining some blocks of the 13-segment (5.6MHz) band and the 1-segment (0.4MHz) band, eliminates the need of a guard band, making it possible to apply it to various bandwidths. As a concatenated transmitter for the 33-segment (14.2MHz) band has been developed, transmission costs will be cut down by a significant margin. Capable of adapting to bandwidths used by the carriage operator, the ISDB-Tmm standard can also be adapted to 7MHz and 8MHz spectrum allocation. The ISDB-Tmm standard has a high degree of compatibility with the ISDB-T format, making it possible to share the same receivers for different broadcasting services and cut down on transmission costs. The standard will thus prove to be the best multimedia broadcasting method for Latin American countries and other nations which have adopted the ISDB-T terrestrial digital broadcasting system.
