DuPont, Spotless Group and Sunoco Move to Microsoft's Cloud
Companies deploy Microsoft Business Productivity Online Suite to reduce costs and increase productivity.
REDMOND, Wash., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Microsoft Corp. today announced new business customers that are taking advantage of Microsoft Business Productivity Online Standard Suite (BPOS) to enhance collaboration, improve productivity and lower costs. BPOS, available in 40 countries and regions, includes Microsoft Exchange Online, Microsoft Office SharePoint Online, Microsoft Office Live Meeting and Microsoft Lync Online and helps businesses ensure optimum employee productivity, tighten security and stay current with the latest productivity innovations more easily.
The customers announced today -- DuPont, Spotless Group Ltd. and Sunoco Inc. -- join the growing roster of BPOS customers including industry leaders such as Coca-Cola Enterprises, Doosan Corp., GlaxoSmithKline plc, McDonald's, Rexel and Starbucks Corp., as well as a large number of small and midsize businesses. Governments at all levels also continue to embrace the cloud with Microsoft, including the State of Minnesota, which just announced plans to deploy BPOS for 33,000 state employees, making it the first U.S. state to move its e-mail and collaboration to the cloud.
"We are delighted that industry leaders around the world continue to choose Microsoft's enterprise-grade cloud services to keep their employees productive and their technology fresh," said Chris Capossela, senior vice president of the Information Worker Product Management Group at Microsoft. "In fact, since the start of the year, the number of businesses using the BPOS has more than tripled, and we're seeing growing interest from organizations of all types and sizes."
Enhanced Collaboration Across Networks
Wilmington, Del.-based DuPont employs more than 58,000 people and operates in about 80 countries around the world. DuPont chose BPOS to replace its existing Lotus Notes environment. By migrating to BPOS, DuPont expects to foster greater collaboration among the company's global employee base and with a thriving network of more than 1 million partners, suppliers and contractors through a secure extranet based on SharePoint Online. The company also chose Business BPOS to modernize and standardize its IT environment.
"We needed an IT and security infrastructure that supports the heavy collaboration demands of an inherently global company and allows us to focus on our core business, without having to wrangle with security and other backroom issues," said Phuong Tram, vice president of IT and chief information officer at DuPont. "In Microsoft BPOS, we found an all-encompassing partner that has the capability to foster a culture of information management and walk along with us into the new century of collaboration and communication."
Greater Scalability, Familiar Interface
Sunoco is a leading manufacturer and marketer of petroleum and petrochemical products headquartered in Philadelphia. The company migrated to BPOS to upgrade the way it delivers IT across the organization and to move toward a more scalable platform that makes it easier to ramp up or scale back operations, as needed.
IT decision-makers at Sunoco also chose BPOS because it works with the Microsoft Office applications the employees already know and use, ensuring uninterrupted productivity and reducing long-term training and support costs.
"Apart from the obvious commercial aspect, a compelling draw with BPOS was that we were able to preserve a majority of the look and feel, in terms of what our employees were used to seeing on their desktops," said Peter Whatnell, chief information officer at Sunoco. "Since BPOS enables close integration between e-mail and Microsoft Office products, we could ensure a smooth transition without incurring abrupt changes for our user community."
Reduced Costs, Increased Agility
Spotless Group, an Australia-based international provider of contract management and retail supply chain solutions, migrated to BPOS in order to support its global work force while lowering total cost of ownership. Before the migration, with more than 37,000 employees and 4,500 contractors spread across geographic regions, it was challenging for remote employees to access the corporate network and for Spotless to disseminate information globally through e-mail or the company intranet.
"BPOS was the logical choice to upgrade our e-mail and collaboration solutions and deliver a highly scalable, supported communications environment without making a considerable investment in datacenter infrastructure and software licensing," said Anthony Stevens, chief information officer at Spotless. "While we briefly reviewed other competitive options, including Google, we quickly realized that BPOS would pose the least impact to our users since most of our server operating environments and desktops are already running on Microsoft platforms."
Spotless is nearing completion of the Business BPOS deployment process, creating a companywide, scalable collaboration environment that will increase information flow, build employee relationships and increase agility to serve new customers.
Microsoft today also announced a number of new Microsoft Live@edu customers, including Aston University in the U.K., San Francisco State University, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and California State University at Long Beach.

More than 70 Years of Mopar
When Chrysler bought Dodge in 1928, the need for a dedicated parts manufacturer, supplier and distribution system to support the growing enterprise led to the formation of the Chrysler Motor Parts Corporation (CMPC) in 1929.
Mopar (a simple contraction of the words Motor and PARts) was trademarked for a line of antifreeze products in 1937. It also was widely used as a moniker for the CMPC. The Mopar brand made its mark in the 1960s - the muscle-car era. The Chrysler Corporation built race-ready Dodge and Plymouth "package cars" equipped with special high-performance parts. Mopar carried a line of "special parts" for super-stock drag racers and developed its racing parts division called Mopar Performance Parts to enhance speed and handling for both road and racing use.

DVDFab HD Decrypter Helps Users Backup Encrypted DVD/Blu-ray to Hard Drive for Free
BEIJING, Oct. 4 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Fengtao Software, a professional multimedia software provider, promotes its new products to the market -- DVDFab HD Decrypter, which enables users to backup encrypted DVD/Blu-ray to hard drive for free.
We all know that most publishers of music and films in digital form have turned to encryption to make copying more difficult, which is really frustrating for DVD/Blu-ray lovers to backup their favorite and protected disc content to hard drives on their computers.
CSS, which is used on DVDs, is a famous example of this. It is a form of copy protection that uses 40-bit encryption. Copies will not be playable without a key which is not writable on DVD-R or DVD-RW discs. With this technique, the work is encrypted using a key only included in the firmware of "authorized" players, which allows only "legitimate" uses of the work. Later, more DVDs attempted to augment CSS with additional protection schemes like ARccOS Protection, which was made by Sony and deliberately creates corrupted sectors on the DVD so as to cause copying software to produce errors. There are lots of other copy protections for DVDs. Of course, many protections are also used on Blu-ray, and we won't talk about them one by one.
What if one wants to copy protected DVD/BD content to hard drive for backup or later editing? Is there any powerful tool designed for this purpose and costs not even a penny? Then DVDFab HD Decrypter is here.
Produced by Fengtao Software, a professional multimedia software provider, DVDFab HD Decrypter can remove all DVD protections such as CSS, CPRM, CPPM, RC, RCE, APS, UOPs, ARccOS, RipGuard, FluxDVD, CORE X2, etc., and part of AACS, BD+, RC, UOPS and BD-Live Blu-ray protections, then helps users to copy these unprotected contents to PC. It is flexible and empowers users to copy either full disc or main movie, specify their favorite subtitles and audio track, preview title in real time, set auto shutdown, etc. In addition, it's extremely easy to operate for both beginners and professionals.
System Requirements:
-- Windows7/Vista/XP/2000 (32-bit/64-bit)
-- Pentium II 500 MHz
-- 512 MB of RAM
-- 10 GB of Free Hard Disk Space
-- A DVD Drive
Fengtao Software is a powerful and professional multimedia software provider which takes care of all your needs on DVD/Blu-ray copy/ripping/decryption, video conversion and file transfer, with its DVDFab products such as HD Decrypter (free), DVD Copy, Blu-ray Copy, DVD Ripper, Blu-ray Ripper, Video Converter, File Transfer, Passkey, and Virtual Drive (free), etc. For more information, please visit http://www.dvdfab.com.

CA Technologies Drives Revolutionary Approach to Cloud Computing with CA 3Tera AppLogic 2.9
Turnkey Platform Facilitates Rapid Delivery of Application-Centric Clouds for Enterprises and Managed Service Providers
ISLANDIA, N.Y., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Enterprises and managed service providers (MSPs) are facing a major shift in IT as cloud computing innovation drives quicker and more efficient delivery of business services. To help companies get to the cloud fast, CA Technologies (Nasdaq: CA) offers a unique, revolutionary, application-centric approach with CA 3Tera® AppLogic®, its turnkey cloud computing platform. CA 3Tera AppLogic helps organizations increase business agility, reduce risks associated with cloud deployments, and enter new markets more quickly than previously possible. Version 2.9 of CA 3Tera AppLogic will be available this month.
"With cloud computing reshaping the way IT delivers services to business users, the perception of IT as a cost center is giving way to an appreciation of IT's true role as a powerful growth engine for the business," said Adam Famularo, general manager, Cloud Computing, CA Technologies. "Our customers are rolling out business services in a completely new way with CA 3Tera AppLogic and the click of a mouse - and as a result, they are gaining a competitive edge, attracting new customers, and improving IT economics and responsiveness."
CA 3Tera AppLogic Platform Improves How IT Delivers Business Services
CA 3Tera AppLogic is designed to empower customers to build cloud infrastructure in as little as four hours, and then pull from a catalog of reusable applications to rapidly compose, deploy and manage complex, online applications, significantly reducing time-to-market for new business services. Instead of provisioning expensive hardware infrastructure and relying on error-prone and time-consuming manual tasks, customers can create new applications by simply "dragging and dropping" components, without making a physical trip to the data center.
"CA 3Tera AppLogic has literally changed the way we do business - not just reducing the rote manual work, but also improving our flexibility, helping us create new services and control the cost of service for our customers," commented Jonathan Davis, CTO of DNS Europe. "Very quickly we have been able to ramp up new revenue streams and win new customers with even higher expectations and more complex needs."
More than 80 companies are using this technology today, running over 400 public and private clouds on four continents. Several customers, including Cirrhus9, Contegix, DNS Europe, Kualo, Layered Tech and Radix Technologies, are now offering new on-demand services relying on CA 3Tera AppLogic for differentiated Infrastructure, Platform and Software as a Service (IaaS, PaaS and SaaS) and virtual private data center offerings.
The CA 3Tera AppLogic platform uses commodity hardware to combine compute resources, storage, networking, high availability, security and policy management into a single system that is managed through one intuitive interface, something well understood in the mainframe world, but relatively unique to the way distributed systems operate today.
With CA 3Tera AppLogic, enterprises can more easily move applications and their supporting infrastructure from development and test environments to full production, by dragging-and-dropping from one environment to another, eliminating the need to replicate configurations manually. Customers also gain flexibility to better manage spikes in demand for existing applications by easily adding capacity or compute resources as needed, and they can quickly provision a private cloud environment from scratch.
"Cloud computing enables customers to share infrastructure resources and dynamically match IT costs to business requirements. In order to reap all of the benefits that cloud computing offers, IT professionals need to standardize, simplify and automate how they provision and manage end-to-end business services," said Mary Johnston Turner, research director at IDC. "CA 3Tera AppLogic addresses this set of requirements by helping organizations to reduce operational complexity by automating rapid deployment of complex applications and associated infrastructure."
Key Features of CA 3Tera AppLogic
CA 3Tera AppLogic is designed to help MSPs and enterprises streamline the application configuration and deployment process with the creation of composite business services. Each service contains the tools needed for the application to run, including infrastructure, configurations, software, code and data. From a user-friendly interface, customers can then easily manage composite services as one object to start, stop, replicate, copy, backup, or even migrate the entire business service to a different data center for business continuity.
New features planned in CA 3Tera AppLogic 2.9 include high availability for networking, increased IP flexibility and security, improved storage health monitoring, increased support for database replication, and full compatibility with previous versions of the platform.
This release is intended to be the next step in delivering on CA Technologies' vision for the Cloud-Connected Management Suite announced earlier this year. CA 3Tera AppLogic 2.9 product details are available here.
Additional features include:
-- Ability to Create Composite Business Services - Designed to manage the
application and the associated infrastructure needed to deploy the
application as a single unit - called a composite business service. It
quickly and repeatedly implements composite business services as needed,
and optimizes the underlying storage, hardware, network configuration
and resource allocation on behalf of the service.
-- Rapid Implementation - Initial cloud installations can be achieved in as
little as four hours, and new production services can be up and running
in less than 30 days. Once installed on two or more x86 servers,
customers have a private cloud environment to run new or existing
applications.
-- Comprehensive High Availability - Provides high availability for the
cloud system and all of the applications that run on it, including
storage mirroring across multiple servers to help ensure that a server
failure never results in data loss; high availability for networking
(planned for 2.9) and the cloud controller; and replication features
built into the catalog appliances. Users can run two identical instances
of an application on the same environment, or in different data centers,
providing a standby that is available to take on the user load, should
the primary instance fail.
-- Network Security - Designed with a zero-trust security model, users
visually define the network connections between all application
components for each service. The system is designed to enforce complete
network traffic inspection, packet by packet on every connection,
ensuring that if a network connection is not identified in the service
definition, the packets are dropped.
-- Virtual SAN - As part of the cloud fabric, CA 3Tera AppLogic creates and
manages a virtual IP SAN using the directly attached storage on the
available servers. It manages redundancy and failover without the
complexity and cost to implement a traditional SAN. This allows
application volumes to move with a workload around the cloud, or between
clouds, automatically and securely.
-- Reusable Library of Services - Users can build a composite business
service, configure it, and save it as a single entity in the expandable
CA 3Tera AppLogic catalog for easy reuse later. Customers can build
applications once, and in mere seconds deploy a new copy. This "build
once, reuse many times" approach for standard, often-repeated
deployments reduces redundancy and helps improve efficiency, giving
customers more time to focus on strategic projects.
-- Cost Efficiency - Designed to be a cost-effective solution for
enterprises and MSPs, enabling open source and standards. Customers can
reduce expenses on managing traditional hardware infrastructure and
bring existing online applications to the cloud without code
modifications.

Echoworx Launches Self-Provisioning Feature for Encrypted Mail Gateway
Hands-free approach to policy-based encryption brings added value to leading security software and telecommunications partners
TORONTO, Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Echoworx Corporation, (http://www.echoworx.com) the leading provider of managed encryption services for complete enterprise email and data protection today launched self-provisioning for their Encrypted Mail Gateway product.
"Our partners can now take a hands-free approach to policy-based encryption allowing their resellers and customers to self-manage, self-brand and even create their own policy-based rules without our partners having to do any of the set up work," says Michael Ginsberg, President and CEO of Echoworx. "With more stringent regulatory requirements, more organizations are looking to implement encryption fast and what better way than for them to set up and manage their own accounts with little involvement from their suppliers."
With the current model, an Echoworx partner would license the product, sell it to their reseller or customer and then they would have to work with Echoworx directly to set up the customer account, manage the account and even develop the branding. With the new model the reseller has the option of doing all the work or handing it off to their customer. Either way, the Echoworx partner's involvement in the set up is minimal.
"The response to this new feature from our partners has been very positive as they believe that with self-provisioning in their tool belt they can now easily work with hundreds if not thousands of resellers who will in turn sell encryption to their customers," said Ginsberg.
With self-provisioning, resellers and/or customers will self-brand their interface by browsing their desktop for company logos and graphics, and easily add themes and corporate colors using the drop down color wheel.
Managing customer accounts for the resellers can now all be done from one screen. The reseller has their customer list in one drop down menu and can easily access these accounts to manage or brand the account.
The administrator will set the policies by creating matching conditions that will trigger policy actions. They will also manage their own account by:
-- Choosing the number of email notifications they would like to receive
based on incoming messages and expiring messages
-- Selecting the language preferences from more than 14 languages
-- Determining if notifications should be digitally signed
-- Determining how many times a password may be attempted before the user
is locked out of the system
-- Review a variety of reports including usage, access levels, etc
Self-provisioning takes policy-based encryption to a new level for Echoworx partners, and the hands-free approach allows them to exponentially increase the number of resellers and customers they work with on a daily basis. Learn more about self-provisioning by calling: 1.888.697.3246 or visit http://www.echoworx.com.

IBM Launches First Smarter Planet Game to Tackle City Challenges
ARMONK, N.Y., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ --IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced the availability of CityOne, the world's first Smarter Planet interactive simulation designed to help business and civic leaders discover how to make their cities and industries smarter by solving real-world business, environmental, and logistical problems.
CityOne presents a unique opportunity for business leaders, city planners and government agencies to develop and budget improvements that address the challenges facing today's global cities. Delivered as a simulation game, players have the opportunity to explore more than 100 real-world scenarios to transform cities through technologies that reduce traffic congestion, save water, streamline supply chains and tap alternative energy sources through a series of crisis scenarios.
In all of the missions, players must determine the best way to balance the city's financial, environmental and sociological interests. They are challenged with improving the city by attaining revenue and profit goals, increasing customer satisfaction, and making the environment greener with a limited budget. In parallel, players will learn how to embrace technologies such as business process management, service reuse, cloud computing and collaborative technologies to help make organizations in city systems more intelligent.
As urban populations continue to grow, civic and business leaders face an unprecedented set of problems. With an estimated one million people around the world moving into cities each week, experts predict the population in the world's cities will double by 2050. Today, these cities consume an estimated 75 percent of the world's energy, emit more than 80 percent of the greenhouse gases, and lose as much as 20 percent of their water supply due to infrastructure leaks. Within these cities, retailers will see global supply chains bloat with $1.2 trillion in excess merchandise, and bankers will see their trading systems subjected to extreme stress, handling more than 25 billion market data messages each day.
City infrastructures that deliver vital services such as transportation, energy and water must rely on a wealth of new information and technologies that will allow them to sense and respond intelligently to the needs of their growing populations and businesses within the cities must learn how to integrate with these new technologies.
For these reasons, IBM's mission is to help cities become more intelligent. CityOne offers a virtual environment that will help tomorrow's leaders learn how to apply advances in technology and better understand how these systems work.
Examples of the game scenarios include:
-- Water Crisis Management: A city is struggling with water usage increases
twice as fast as the population, supplies are becoming strained and
possibly polluted, and the municipality is losing almost half of its
water through leaky pipes. On top of all that, energy costs continue to
rise. To complete the mission, players must come up with a way to
deliver the highest water quality at the lowest cost in real-time.
-- Smarter Retail: The player represents the owner of an electronics store
that requires a redesign and expansion. In order to increase sales,
players must streamline and increase the visibility of their supply
chain process to better track items in real time and react to problems
and delays.
IBM has also linked content from CityOne with cloud-delivered business process management capabilities that allow real-time communication with other players and with IBM industry experts. As a result, a player can have conversations about how the process models from the game relate to real world implementations.
Since plans for the game were announced in May, more than 8,000 people have pre-registered to play CityOne. Additionally, key organizations have worked with IBM to enhance the design of the game. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) provided content and resources to the CityOne.
"Creating greater awareness and educating the public about protecting human health and the environment is an EPA priority, and serious games can be useful tools for users to learn about processes and systems reflective of the real world," said Andy Miller, PE, Chief, Atmospheric Protection Branch, EPA Research and Development. "By cooperating with IBM CityOne developers, EPA is helping users by allowing them to more thoroughly investigate environmental issues and better understand complex energy and water interactions presented in the game. EPA's collaboration in this project will help increase awareness and understanding of how different choices that are made in the various game scenarios affect environmental outcomes."
IBM is not new to the serious games space. Over the years, IBM has released a number of games such as INNOV8, RoboCode and PowerUp that are used by schools, businesses, museums and conferences. In fact, the INNOV8 series is now being used by 1000 universities and organizations worldwide and is offered for free to schools through IBM's Academic Initiative.
Historically, simulation gaming has been used extensively in the military, by athletes and by scientists to discover effective new strategies and techniques and develop the skills needed to implement them. Businesses have realized the value of this and are deploying their own games to create life-like simulations of real markets, customers and business situations that they deal with every day.
One of the businesses that piloted INNOV8 is the Farmer's Insurance Group. The company's national training facility, The University of Farmers, offers training to tens of thousands of Farmer's employees and used INNOV8 with their call center agents.
"We see serious gaming as an ideal delivery system for a number of learning opportunities," said Mike Cuffe, VP of Learning at University of Farmers. "Since my team redesigned Farmers Claims' curriculum to give it a learn-by-doing focus, our employees now achieve competence more quickly, serve our customers more effectively and compassionately, and are better prepared for advancement opportunities."

Qualcomm Announces Availability of Augmented Reality SDK
-- Industry-leading, Vision-based Technology Will Enable Developers to Create New Generation of Augmented Reality Experiences --
SAN DIEGO, Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM) today announced the immediate availability of its Augmented Reality (AR) Software Development Kit (SDK) for Android smartphones. Offered through Qualcomm's online developer network, QDevNet, Qualcomm's SDK will enable a new breed of applications that delivers interactive 3D experiences on everyday objects, such as 3D gaming experiences on tabletops and interactive media experiences on product packaging and promotional items.
"Qualcomm is making it easy for developers to create interactive 3D content for the real world," said Jay Wright, director of business development at Qualcomm. "By making the Qualcomm AR SDK available at no charge, we are encouraging all developers to start building innovative applications and services today."
Qualcomm's AR platform, which includes the AR SDK, uses computer vision technology to align graphics tightly with underlying objects. The approach is an evolution from current AR techniques that use a phone's GPS and compass for mapping applications. Vision-based AR enables a fundamentally different user experience in which graphics appear as if they are anchored to real world objects.
Qualcomm's SDK provides developers with an advanced feature set, allowing for augmentation of everyday images on printed media, as well as simple 3D objects such as boxes used for product packaging. Additionally, it supports the ability for users to interact with AR applications by simply touching real world surfaces.
First announced at Qualcomm's Uplinq developer conference, Qualcomm's AR platform has drawn interest from companies spanning a variety of industries, from traditional mobile developers to consumer product manufacturers and marketers. Mattel, Inc., a worldwide leader of toys and family products, was among the first consumer products companies to embrace Qualcomm's AR platform and developed a concept application to bring Mattel's classic Rock 'Em Sock 'Em® game to life.
"We received a very positive response to the Rock 'Em Sock 'Em project and as a result, we are moving forward with plans to commercialize the Rock 'Em Sock 'Em game and are now exploring the use of AR in other Mattel brands," said Andrew Cheesman, director of emerging digital technologies at Mattel.
Ogmento, Inc., another early leader and innovator in AR game development, also plans to use Qualcomm's platform to develop commercial titles.
"Qualcomm's AR platform and SDK provides features and performance that are critical to the game experiences we need to deliver," said Ori Inbar, founder and CEO of Ogmento. "We see Qualcomm's technology as a key enabler for high-fidelity gaming that will allow us to bring compelling games to market."
The Qualcomm AR SDK is available immediately as a beta release and can be downloaded at developer.qualcomm.com/ar

Epson Ushers in Future of Computer-to-Plate Printing with Epson DirectPlate Technology
Epson Stylus Pro 7900CTP System Brings Affordable Aluminum Press Plate Solution to Small and Medium-Sized Print Shops
CHICAGO, Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ --Graph Expo, Booth 617 -- Epson is redefining how computer-to-plate (CTP) technology is used by small and medium commercial print shops with a new technology called Epson DirectPlate Aluminum. Taking advantage of a recent breakthrough in chemical engineering and plate coating, this new plate technology enables true aluminum lithographic printing press plates to be created with a standard Epson Stylus® Pro printer and Epson UltraChrome® HDR inks. Once imaged, followed by a quick heat curing process, these unique plates can be used to produce up to 20,000 impressions each with image quality that's superior to polyester solutions available today.
The new Epson Stylus Pro 7900CTP system is the first printer to incorporate DirectPlate Aluminum technology. This complete turn-key system combines an Epson Stylus Pro 7900 printer (24-inch wide format) with a unique plate curing device (PCU), an EFI® Computer-to-Plate RIP software package, and plate guide attachment. Designed for printing press-duplicators and small to medium size printing press businesses, the Epson 7900CTP's output offers better quality prints on press than polyester without having to manage hazardous and messy chemicals. In addition, a lower cost-per-plate, energy efficiency, and the virtual elimination of maintenance costs contribute significantly toward a lower total cost of operation.
"It's amazing to see just how much Epson DirectPlate technology can exceed the final press quality that today's small and medium sized commercial printers are used to seeing," said Reed Hecht, product manager, Epson America. "But even more important than image quality, this technology gives them a true aluminum press plate workflow that's reliable, consistent, more cost-effective than polyester, and less impact on the environment while still being easier to use. We're confident that once customers incorporate this solution into their workflows, it's very likely they'll never want to use polyester plates again."
Epson DirectPlate Aluminum technology contributes to superior press output with up to 175 lpi resolution, better solids, cleaner halftones, and sharper text. In addition, the Epson Stylus Pro 7900 printer's robust engineering and energy-efficient operation offers significant savings in electrical costs as well as ongoing maintenance expenses and service contracts. Once purchased, there's nothing else owners need to buy other than ongoing ink cartridges, plates, and an occasional ink maintenance tank.
The Epson Stylus Pro 7900CTP's unique water-based plate-making system eliminates the messy, time-consuming process of cleaning and handling hazardous chemicals associated with other platesetting solutions. In addition, because no special inks are required, the Epson Stylus Pro 7900CTP can also be used to make high-quality press proofs, imposition proofs, and even high-quality, short-run, posters up to 24-inches wide.
Pricing, Availability and Support
The Epson 7900CTP system will be available in November 2010 for $9,999 (MSRP) through authorized Epson dealers. Unlike other computer-to-plate solutions, the system comes complete, including the Epson Stylus Pro 7900 printer, modified for easy plate loading, the Plate Curing Unit, an EFI® front-end CTP RIP workflow, and a starter set of inks and plates. For more information on Epson's complete line of professional proofing solutions, inks and media, visit http://www.proimaging.epson.com.
