LG Electronics Introduces Dual Engine Full HD 3D Projector for Custom Installers
3D Projector ideal for high-end home theater applications
ATLANTA, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Providing the ultimate 3D home theater experience for custom installers and their clients, LG Electronics today introduced a versatile Full HD 3D single lens type projector that throws a stunning 100-inch image.
Showcased at the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association Expo this week (booth #2335), LG's CF3D is a Full HD Dual Engine Single Lens Type 3D Projector featuring an amazing brightness ratio of 2,500 ANSI-lumens for 2D viewing and 1,250 ANSI-lumens for 3D content. The projector features a high contrast ratio of 7,000:1 and features TruMotion 120Hz for smoother images - a technology previously only seen on flat panel HDTVs. Mounted about 10 feet from the screen, the CF3D projects an image of 100-inches diagonal.
"As home theater enthusiasts embrace 3D, LG's CF3D projector gives custom installers and integrators a flexible platform for delivering stunning 2D and 3D HD content," said Rick Calacci, vice president, regional sales, LG Electronics USA. "With theater-like performance for either home installation or business use, this projector is a treat for audiences from boardrooms to block parties."
Other 3D projection systems use two separate projectors - one for each eye. The CF3D has two engines build into one unit, thereby reducing the space and size required to provide 3D content from one projector. Thanks to the LCOS system, this projector's two images are polarized within the unit and projected simultaneously ensuring maximum brightness. The CF3D projector addresses ghosting with improved and more rapid polarization, so the image is converted into a single 3D image before its transmitted.
LG's Full HD CF3D projector offers superior 3D picture quality for a multitude of commercial applications. With dual engine single lens technology, picture brightness is maintained at high levels while TruMotion 120Hz provides clearer, smoother high definition images. From 3D CAD rendering to compelling corporate presentations to engaging and immersive videos for the classroom, the CF3D projector can deliver a new level of entertainment and educational content.
The CF3D comes with six pairs of polarized 3D glasses (additional glasses sold separately). To view 3D content, a 3D Blu-ray Disc player (or other 3D program source) and silver screen are required and sold separately. LG's CF3D is available now with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $14,999.99.

The Tecca mobile app is available today via the Apple iTunes App Store and the Google Android Market, with mobile web, PC, and tablet versions set to launch later this fall.
"The speed at which technology evolves affects everyone; we repeatedly hear that constant innovation is overwhelming for consumers, who struggle to keep pace," said Ross Levinsohn, chairman, Tecca, and managing director, Fuse Capital. - Version 8.3 Upgrade Expands Support for Screening, Variable Data and
Updates Platform Support
New features for pre-press have been added to the latest release of the
Harlequin(R) PLUS Server RIP
(http://www.globalgraphics.com/products/harlequin_rip/) announced today by
Global Graphics Software (http://www.globalgraphics.com/). Version 8.3,
available via Global Graphics' network of Harlequin RIP OEMs, introduces
extended support for hybrid and digitally modulated screens and expands the
number of devices across which PDF retained raster can be deployed, a feature
that speeds up variable data processing. Platform support is updated to
include Windows 7 and Mac Snow Leopard.
Martin Bailey, Global Graphics' chief technology officer, says, "Our
development roadmap for the Harlequin RIP is focussed on introducing
incremental benefits that will have an immediate impact on the productivity
of print shops. So in this release we build on the performance enhancements
we introduced last year.
"For example, in response to the increase in demand to process variable
data today's launch increases the number of devices that can run PDF retained
raster. This feature speeds up the processing of variable data in PDF files
even if they weren't created using specific variable data tools by only
RIPping new content on multi-page jobs so that the same areas are not
processed repeatedly. When it comes to screening, this new version of the RIP
extends support for Harlequin Cross-Modulated Screening (HXM) that addresses
the issue of printing on lower quality papers while meeting higher customer
expectations."
Harlequin Cross Modulated Screening, or HXM, is a combination of AM and
FM screening that allows higher screen rulings than is provided by AM screens
alone. It results in smoother flesh tones, flat tints and gradients. With
Version 8.3 of the Harlequin RIP the range of screen sets increases to
include 1270 dpi and 2540 dpi for easy use on a wider range of CTP solutions.
Third party screening solutions such as Auraia from Hamillroad Software can
also be used with the Harlequin RIP.
The Harlequin RIP processes PostScript(R), PDF and XPS natively in one
RIP engine. Harlequin RIP users have never needed to flatten transparent
artwork because all Harlequin RIPs since Version 6.0 have automatically
recognised when PDF files contain live transparency and generated the correct
result. Recent releases of the Harlequin RIP have seen notable accelerations
in performance, with, for example, the introduction of multi-threaded
rendering taking full advantage of Duo and Quad core technologies.
Print shops should check availability of Version 8.3 with their supplier.

Bailey, are available on request to jill.taylor@globalgraphics.com

STAPLES Center Unveils LIVE 4HD Scoreboard System by Panasonic
Panasonic-Created Center-Hung HD Scoreboard and Video Display System Establishes New Standard for Arena Scoreboards
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The Lakers, Clippers and Kings are not the only L.A. LIVE residents who upgraded their rosters over the summer. STAPLES Center's LIVE 4HD, set to debut on Thursday night, September 23rd, when the Los Angeles Kings take to the ice to play against their NHL rivals, the Phoenix Coyotes, will be just the latest in a series of STAPLES Center additions to enhance fans' enjoyment. The brand new, state-of-the-art, eight-sided, center-hung Panasonic scoreboard and video system will be able to display all the panoramic action taking place on the ice in pristine 720p High Definition.
Designed exclusively for STAPLES Center by Panasonic, one of the arena's Founding Partners and an acknowledged worldwide leader in digital video systems, the one-of-a-kind comprehensive arena scoreboard and broadcast control room will include what is believed to be the largest indoor center-hung High Definition scoreboard video screen installation in the world. The scoreboard system is expected to serve as a prototype for future venue displays now being developed by Panasonic.
Showing crisp High Definition Video in 16:9 letterbox format on the four Panasonic 22' x 14'-3" LED displays, which are composed of fine pitch 6 mm video elements using black SMD 3 in 1 package for additional contrast, the scoreboard and display system will display live HD video action, features and special production pieces in HD quality that will rival home theater screens. With horizontal and vertical viewing angles of 140 degrees/140 degrees, a contrast ratio of 8000:1, and a brightness level for all boards reaching 2000 nits, STAPLES Center's video screens truly set the new industry standard.
The unique element for this display is the 4 additional 6 mm LED Displays on the underside of the LED Board to allow special viewing for fans with courtside seats who have previously been unable to view replays on the center hung LED. The sideline displays are nearly 8' x 14' and are capable of displaying both in-game, promotional and special content and features during the game.
Four other Panasonic LED video boards composed of 10mm pitch video elements and measuring 13'-9" x 14'-3" will keep fans up-to-date with the latest information on team stats, scores, game clock status and more. The boards are also video-capable, allowing them to be integrated so that programming can appear seamlessly across all eight screens.
"We are incredibly excited to unveil the world's first-ever LIVE 4HD Scoreboard," said Lee Zeidman, Sr. Vice President & General Manager, STAPLES Center. "It is amazing how far technology has come since we opened STAPLES Center in 1999 and the scoreboard that our partners at Panasonic have designed has created the best arena installation anywhere, which undoubtedly will enhance every fan's experience when they come watch a sporting event at STAPLES Center."
The final two elements of the center-hung display are two 16mm LED "Halos," encircling both the top and bottom of the scoreboard with the ability to display graphics and integrate the effects being shown on the other screens. STAPLES Center's existing two fascia boards, encircling the entire arena between Suite Levels A & B and B & C, each measure 475' wide and 3' tall, will continue to display a full series of graphic and video messages, promotions, game information, fan entertainment and interactive elements.
"Panasonic is proud of our efforts to bring this spectacular new scoreboard to STAPLES Center," said James Doyle, President, Panasonic Enterprise Solutions Company. "This amazing example of technology and engineering is a true reflection of our partnership with AEG and STAPLES Center as we work to meet their objectives in bringing innovative concepts to life, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the fan experience. Panasonic worked closely with AEG to design and install an end-to-end system from the control room to the video boards that creates a truly seamless experience. This system adds to the overall STAPLES Center and LA Live experience already powered by Panasonic's broad range of advanced technology solutions."
Panasonic was able to deliver a unique high-quality solution implemented in a short timeline. Technically the offering comprised of 14 separate LED products within the center hung display alone is believed to be one of the most technically sophisticated in the world.
"Having Panasonic's incredible, new technology and scoreboard on display in STAPLES Center is not only an example of AEG looking for ways to improve the fan experience in our venues but also our collaborative approach to create opportunities for our partners to display their innovative products that our guests can interact with when they visit our arenas or our districts like L.A. LIVE where so many of Panasonic's products are displayed," said Shervin Mirhashemi, COO, AEG Global Partnerships.
The completely redesigned HD control room, located above the Upper Concourse within the Bob Miller Press Box on the West side of the arena, includes a vast array of best-of-breed technologies. At the core of the control room are Panasonic's professional broadcast products combined with a combination of best-of-breed third party products from Ross and other premier partners.
Together, all of the video components and hardware weigh a combined total of 47,000 lbs and require 5.2 million LED lights to create the incredible High Definition video displays.

SwiftKey Touchscreen Typing app Uses AI to Write for you
LONDON, September 23, 2010/PRNewswire/ -- SwiftKey(TM), a new keyboard app for Google Android smartphones that uses
breakthrough artificial intelligence (AI) technology, launched Thursday after
receiving more than 250,000 downloads during its public beta. The app's AI
learns a user's writing style to complete words and sentences for them,
offering an unrivalled touchscreen typing experience.
SwiftKey accurately predicts about a third of words before a user chooses
a single letter and the majority of remaining words only require one or two
key-presses to type, speeding up SMS or email composition by up to 50%.
London-based developers TouchType Ltd launched the app following the
popular beta, which saw SwiftKey become the most downloaded keyboard on the
Android Market, amid hundreds of positive reviews. Tech blog Gizmodo wrote,
"The star feature of SwiftKey is its predictive text -- it literally learns
the way you type." Engadget said the app has "an uncanny ability" to guess
your next word. "It's like a psychic, only for less money," wrote Mobile
Crunch.
The key is TouchType's Fluency(TM) prediction engine, which uses new
techniques to analyze billions of sentences of background text to understand
how words combine. The technology can also learn from users' message archives
and their typing over time to provide eerily accurate personalization.
"We were overwhelmed by the success of SwiftKey's beta launch and the
positive response from our users," TouchType's CEO Jon Reynolds said.
"SwiftKey is already one of the most popular keyboards on Android. We
hope to continue that trend now with our enhanced full version."
The new app supports voice dictation and multi-touch, has a new keyboard
layout including a numpad and arrow keys, and can make simultaneous
predictions in two languages. To celebrate the launch, TouchType is giving
SwiftKey away for just $0.99 for the next week on the Android Market, a
three-dollar discount. A free trial version will become available next week.
Dr Ben Medlock, TouchType's CTO, said, "SwiftKey isn't just the first
keyboard to harness Fluency's incredible prediction power; it's now the first
keyboard to offer multiple-language prediction -- an amazing breakthrough for
bilingual smartphone users."
Medlock said these innovations are just the beginning. "We're developing
new techniques based on machine learning that will blow away today's keyboard
technology. Watch this space."
SwiftKey predicts in US/UK English, Spanish, German, French, Italian,
Portuguese, Dutch and Swedish, with many new languages coming shortly. See

New CyberSource Development Lets Merchants Screen eCommerce Transactions for Fraud Without Exposure to Sensitive Card Info
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Caught between dual threats of online fraudsters and payment data breaches, eCommerce merchants face a dilemma. They want to screen orders for fraud, but to do that means handling payment data -- the same data they'd like to eliminate from their networks in case of a breach. A new development from CyberSource, a Visa company (NYSE: V) ("Visa"), fully links payment security with fraud management, meaning merchants can screen orders and keep payment data out of their systems, simultaneously.
When consumers order online from organizations employing CyberSource's payment security and fraud management technologies, sensitive payment data (credit card number, security code, etc.) is captured through fields that are hosted by CyberSource, concurrent with the collection of necessary fraud detection data. Payment data is placed directly onto the CyberSource Level 1 PCI DSS-validated payment network, without coming into contact with merchant systems. The merchant never sees, stores, or transmits the payment data. Immediately upon capture, the transaction can be run through the fully linked fraud system featuring 200+ merchant-designated tests and detectors that assess the risk of fraud. All of this takes place in approximately two seconds. A secure payment token representing the transaction is returned to the merchant for post-sale payment support, such as credits or refunds.
"Today's announcement marks completion of our two-phased plan to address this dilemma," said Dayna Ford, CyberSource's Director, Product Management. "Now, in addition to our fraud system supporting tokenized payment data, we completely isolate sensitive payment data from merchant systems, while preserving merchants' ability to effectively screen for fraud. Merchants are able to limit their PCI scope, while deploying some of the most effective anti-fraud tools on the market, including device fingerprinting with packet signature inspection, IP geolocation, and multi-merchant velocity checks. Merchants can now be fraud-protected and payment security-enabled without compromise."
Price and availability
CyberSource hosted payment acceptance services are available today at no additional charge to customers using CyberSource payment tokenization and Decision Manager services.

Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America's Debuts HC4000 HD Home Theater Projector at CEDIA 2010 in Atlanta
IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America's Presentation Products Division, known for award-winning, high-quality, high-definition presentation and display products, today exhibits its new HC4000 high-definition home theater projector at the CEDIA show in Atlanta, September 23-27, 2010. The new HC4000 has a wealth of high-performance features at an entry-level price.
"Mitsubishi has excellent price-performance value for DIY home-theater projectors. We start with a low initial investment and back it with a low total cost of ownership over the life of the projector," said Wayne Kozuki, product marketing manager, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America's Presentation Products Division. "With our new HC4000, we continue the tradition with an abundance of high-level features at a very affordable price. The Mitsubishi HC4000 is definitely a winner in performance and value."
Mitsubishi's new HC4000 projector uses Texas Instruments' latest 1080p DLP® chip, the DarkChip 3 with BrilliantColor(TM). It blasts 1300 lumens and provides up to 750:1 ANSI contrast ratio. ANSI contrast is measured using uniform standards set by American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for fair and equitable comparisons. Users can be sure that the true contrast of the HC4000 shows remarkably high detail and color depth for maximum video display impact. The projector also boasts super-sharp, all-glass lenses for rich, vivid realistic images.
Viewing widescreen 2.35:1 aspect ratio films is easy with the HC4000 projector, thanks to its anamorphic lens support. Users simply position an anamorphic lens in front of the HC4000 lens and select the appropriate Anamorphic Mode 1 or Mode 2, either 2.35:1 or 16:9 aspect ratios, for the corresponding movie format. It's a simple and economical design that saves time and effort while providing the ultimate home theater viewing experience.
Mitsubishi's HC4000 offers low cost of ownership with an estimated 5000-hour lamp life* in low conservation mode. It's filter-free design and advanced semi-sealed construction helps makes the HC4000's optics resistant to dust, dirt and other micro particles within its light path. Periodic maintenance is greatly reduced, making the projector more economical over time, and allowing users to enjoy their home theater longer. The HC4000 also has a convenient and simple top-access lamp design for easy lamp exchanges.
Subdued scenes are easy to hear with the HC4000's quiet engine that has an ultra-hushed noise level rated at 25dBA in low mode. The projector includes a native digital HDMI(TM) input for true high-definition connectivity, and at less than eight pounds can be taken almost anywhere. With its built-in 1.5x-zoom ratio lens as well as a digital keystone correction, set-up is easy and more flexible for various room configurations.
"Mitsubishi is committed to providing the best value in our home-theater and presentation projectors," said James Chan, senior director, product marketing, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America's Presentation Products Division. "We are excited to offer a wide selection designed to meet the needs of first-time home-theater and DIYers, as well as enthusiasts who want the best they can afford without compromising on quality."
Pricing, Availability, Warranty
The estimated price of Mitsubishi's HC4000 is $1495 and is available through popular online resellers and authorized Mitsubishi dealers. The projector comes with Mitsubishi's two-year limited warranty on parts and labor plus a one-year limited warranty on the lamp.

New Diamond 3D High-Definition Home Theater Projector From Mitsubishi Electric Debuts at CEDIA 2010
IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America's Presentation Products Division continues its leadership in bringing the 3D experience to home theaters by introducing its newest Diamond 3D 1080p full HD home theater projector at the CEDIA Home Theater Show in Atlanta, September 23-26, 2010 in Booth #2305.
"We've heard that this is 'the year of 3D,'" said Wayne Kozuki, product manager, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America's Presentation Products Division. "But Mitsubishi has been selling 3D-ready TVs since 2007, so it's the home entertainment industry that is finally catching up to us."
Mitsubishi's new Diamond 3D projector is packed with features that create crisp, vivid, engaging 3D images that can display over 100-inch screens, creating a true theater experience. Powered by an SXRD(TM) cutting-edge reflective liquid-crystal optical engine, Mitsubishi adds its own algorithms and processing technologies to create high-brightness, high-contrast (up to 120,000:1 full on/full off) images that are smooth, dazzling and true to the original content.
A key element in projector performance is its lens, and Mitsubishi has incorporated extra-low dispersion glass into its six-piece, 17-cluster structure for higher functionality that minimizes chromatic aberration. The result is colors and details that are impeccably crystal clear.
With its auto-iris function, Mitsubishi's Diamond 3D home theater projector automatically sets the optimal aperture according to each scene, and its 120Hz refresh rate produces ultra-smooth transitions and amazing and life-like images. An independent management function allows adjustment to color characteristics such as hue, intensity and brightness individually (red, green, cyan, magenta and yellow), without affecting the other colors.
With a wide range of powered lens shift (100% vertical and 45% horizontal), this new Mitsubishi Diamond 3D projector is easy to install, even in a complicated room configuration. In some cases there may not be a need to turn the projector upside down in a ceiling mount, and its 1.8x powered-zoom range also gives installers additional installation flexibility.
At only 19dBa, this Diamond 3D projector is extremely quiet, so viewers can easily hear the movie, even in whisper-soft scenes, instead of an annoying projector hum. Two HDMI(TM) version 1.4 inputs support 3D signals, as well as provide easy set-up options for multiple video inputs, and its RS232 support offers plug-and-play connectivity with third-party remote operations.
Mitsubishi's new Diamond 3D projector also offers low cost of ownership with an estimated 4000-hour lamp life* in low conservation mode. It also has a convenient and simple rear-access lamp design for easy lamp exchanges and a one-year limited warranty on the lamp, one of the best lamp warranties in the industry.
"3D is a large screen, immersive experience, and we're proud to showcase our new 3D Diamond Projector at this year's CEDIA," said James Chan, senior director, marketing, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America. "We continue to bring the best projection technology with a broad range of products to our home theater partners."

Kozio Introduces Free Trial of kDiagnostics for Users of the BeagleBoard
Run Powerful Diagnostics That Delivers Repeatable Fault Isolation within Minutes
LONGMONT, Colo., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Kozio, Inc. (http://www.kozio.com) the developer of In-System Diagnostics (ISD), today announced that it has made available a 30-day free trial of their kDiagnostics® Suite, for users of the BeagleBoard development platform. The 30-day trial gives users an interactive guided tour of Texas Instruments' (TI) OMAP3530 and the BeagleBoard, along with access to a full validation solution. The free trial is available now and can be downloaded directly from the Kozio website (http://kozio.com/eval).
"Kozio has worked closely with TI for over two years to develop a standard, supported validation solution for their OMAP(TM) technology," stated Clint Ostrander, President & CEO, Kozio, Inc. "We are happy to be extending that support to the BeagleBoard community, providing them unmatched design verification and hardware validation."
The BeagleBoard processor boots directly from a Secure Digital (SD) card containing kDiagnostics. Users have the power to explore and understand their BeagleBoard, verify proper performance, and have full access and control of both low-level hardware and high-level functionality in real-time. Unlike other diagnostic and test solutions, kDiagnostics initializes devices, configures memory, isolates and easily reproduces faults within minutes, and provides other features beyond the boundaries of traditional verification or validation approaches.
Users can browse and run Kozio's library of tests through the click of a mouse. Devices can be programmed easily and quickly, including NOR and NAND flash memories, and SD cards. Users can read and write memory, peek and poke hardware registers, control GPIO lines, access I2C devices, and configure power resources. Custom commands can be scripted using any text editor. These scripts can perform complex flow control, such as looping and conditional branching using the programming constructs available through the Kozio scripting language.
About Kozio Technology
In-System Diagnostics (ISD) is a powerful and proven new technology for comprehensive verification and validation of electronic products. Unlike other verification and validation tools, it runs on actual hardware and replaces customized test procedures with a standardized extensible solution that significantly accelerates hardware test time. The core of ISD consists of an embedded binary, plus interpreter, that isolates and functionally evaluates device performance at-speed, against engineering design specifications, and over an extended operating range. It installs on bare silicon, is not an OS, and verifies hardware designs without scheduler interrupts or other OS-induced perturbations that may influence hardware performance and/or obscure the source of faults.
Availability
Kozio's kDiagnostics 30-day free trial for the BeagleBoard, based on the OMAP3530 processor featuring ARM® Cortex(TM)-A8 processor support, is immediately available. A 30-day trial for the BeagleBoard-xM will be available in October 2010.
About Kozio, Inc.

LTC Financial Partners Teams With eWomenNetwork to Provide Free Long Term Care Information
A New Website Addresses Women's Special Needs
KIRKLAND, Wash., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Women have special long term care needs -- but not just because they often come down with longer-lasting illnesses and disabilities. When there's no long term care insurance for a couple or family members, women typically end up as the default, unpaid caregivers. "Lack of LTC insurance not only hurts women when they themselves need care," says Denise Gott, Chairman of the Board of LTC Financial Partners LLC (LTCFP). "More often, it hurts them when they have to drop everything to care for another uninsured loved one."
The problem is, most women don't know this or fail to think seriously about it, Gott asserts. To address this issue LTCFP has teamed up with the eWomenNetwork to drive the message home. A special eWomenNetwork/LTCFP website, linked to the eWomenNetwork home site, has been set up at http://www.ltcfp.biz/ewomennetwork/. It provides free information from a number of U.S. agencies and authoritative private organizations. For example, according to studies summarized on the site --
-- 80% percent of working caregivers reported emotional strain.
-- 50% percent reported financial strain.
-- 40% percent missed work on a regular basis due to the health needs of an
elderly loved one.
-- 41% of women interviewed who had been caretakers had been forced to quit
their jobs or take a leave of absence.
-- 37% said they cut back their working hours and gave up space in their
own homes to accommodate loved ones needing care.
The site also gives information on the financial, physical and lifestyle impact on women who are not working, and offers guidelines on --
-- Whether long term care insurance is appropriate for a woman's specific
circumstances.
-- Options for securing affordable LTC insurance when appropriate.
-- Multiple-policy options, with cost and other benefits, for women who run
businesses.
The site also includes a video presentation by Gott; and visitors may download a free special report, "Women and Long Term Care -- A Decade of Reports." It's available from a link at the bottom of a scrolling field on a "Facts" page.
LTCFP, based in Kirkland, Washington, is one of America's largest and most experienced long term care insurance agencies. For three years in a row, the company has been named one of America's 5000 fastest-growing companies by Inc. Magazine.
Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, eWomenNetwork, Inc. is the fastest growing membership-based professional women's networking organization in North America.

SafetyBook.org(TM) Provides Private Recall Monitoring Service to Help Protect Families From Dangerous Products
CHICAGO, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Consumer awareness of 2010's firestorm of product recalls can literally mean life or death. However, thanks to a patent-pending new web-service called SafetyBook.org(TM), American families can now have a comprehensive online tool that tracks and alerts them directly about recalled products they own.
September is National Baby Safety Month, and SafetyBook allows members to privately register their child products and other items on the company's website (http://www.safetybook.org). The service then actively monitors recall alerts from federal agencies, and alerts members directly when one of their registered products is recalled.
According to SafetyBook, the CPSC has already recalled nearly 45 million products this year, and 32 million of those products are a child-safety threat. A low-cost recall monitoring service is a long overdue solution.
"We're starting a product-safety revolution. For years, I've watched manufacturers, government agencies and consumers alike struggle with the difficulties of tracking and managing product recalls," says SafetyBook Founder and CEO Dan Verakis. "In today's wired world, there's no reason we can't provide parents with peace of mind by more effectively protecting children and families from the millions of unaccounted faulty products recalled every year."
SafetyBook is a consumer advocate. All member information is kept private and isn't shared with third parties.
"There's a never-ending barrage of product recalls, and it's a hassle trying to lookout for things that might threaten my children," says Kelly Hill, a mother of three near Pittsburgh. "I'm glad I can now track everything in one place."
How does SafetyBook work?
1. Privately register your products at http://www.safetybook.org.
2. Easily add children's products, appliances, vehicles and other products
to your "My SafetyBook(TM)" account page.
3. SafetyBook checks those items against past recalls issued by the CPSC and
NHTSA.
4. The web-service then actively monitors your registered products and sends
you a Direct-Alert(TM) message when your item(s) is recalled.
5. The SafetyBook Registration Chain(TM), lets you transfer registration of
products you sell or give away. Simply submit the new owner's email
address.
6. Membership is $24 per year ($2 per month). The introductory price is
$19.95 during SafetyBook's official launch.

Marvell Raises Technology Bar Again with World's First 1.5 GHz Tri-Core Processor Delivering Dual Stream 1080p 3D Video for Smartphones and Tablets
Game Changer: Ultra-low power, ultra-high performance ARMADA three-core processor first to feature 3D graphics performance with quad unified shaders for 200 million triangles per second delivered on mobile devices
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Marvell (Nasdaq: MRVL), a worldwide leader in integrated silicon solutions, today introduced the world's first 1.5 GHz tri-core application processor, the Marvell® ARMADA(TM) 628. This product incorporates a full System-on-a-Chip design (SoC) with three high performance Marvell-designed, ARM-compliant CPU cores operating as the world's first commercially available heterogeneous, multi-core, applications processor.
"Marvell has once again set the benchmark for the rest of the industry with the world's first 1.5 GHz tri-core processor, delivering dual stream 1080p 3D video and 3D graphics performance with quad unified shaders for 200 million triangles per second delivered on ultra-low-power, long battery life smartphones and tablets," said Weili Dai, Marvell Co-founder and Vice President and General Manager of Marvell Semiconductor's Consumer and Computing Business Unit. "This is important because today's consumers expect robust enterprise and consumer applications delivered to the palm of their hands. Marvell is uniquely equipped to lead this mobile revolution as the semiconductor industry's one-stop shop solution provider. This is an example of Marvell's unique ability to take a diverse cutting edge technology portfolio and integrate into differentiated solutions to give our customers game-changing advantage."
The new ARMADA 628 tri-core processor incorporates a number of advanced processing and power management features. The tri-core design integrates two high performance symmetric multiprocessing cores and a third core optimized for ultra low-power. The third core is designed to support routine user tasks and acts as a system management processor to monitor and dynamically scale power and performance. The tri-core architecture provides superior performance and lower power over dual-core designs while maintaining industry compatibility and leadership -- ensuring a richer, faster and smoother experience than any other ARM-based processor available today.
"Marvell's groundbreaking tri-core architecture is a unique solution to a long-time problem--how to achieve enterprise performance without breaking the limited power budget of smartphones, tablets and other mobile consumer devices," said Linley Gwennap, principal analyst of The Linley Group. "With Marvell's ARMADA 628, consumers can anticipate better visual, dynamic experiences on an array of new mobile devices."
The architecture is analogous to a hybrid muscle car. The ARMADA 628 is intended to perform like a race car engine on demand, while still delivering the frugal gas-mileage of a hybrid automobile. In real world terms, this enables the ARMADA 628 to play more than 10 hours of full 1080p HD video or 140 hours of music on a single charge while still providing 3 GHz of raw computational horsepower.
Marvell's ARMADA 628 tri-core CPU comprises a complete SoC design - a first for the industry. In addition to the tri-core CPU, there are six additional processing engines to support stunning 3D graphics, 1080p video encode/decode, ultra high fidelity audio, advanced cryptography, and digital photo data processing - for a total of nine dedicated core functions.
The ARMADA 628 is also designed to be the first mobile CPU to provide high-speed USB 3.0 connectivity, which offers 10x faster performance than USB 2.0.
About ARMADA 628
The ARMADA 628 is based on a Marvell-designed ARM v7 MP compatible CPU offering 1.5 GHz performance. It offers support to use LP-DDR2 or DDR3 memory up to 533 MHz, a highly flexible display controller capable of driving four simultaneous displays at up t o 2K x 2K resolution, and a highly robust security subsystem that includes a secure execution processor. An integrated 3D engine renders 200 million triangles per second for an immersive game play experience and a multi-format video engine supports dual stream 1080p video for a true 3D visual experience. In addition, the ARMADA 628 supports DirectX, Open GL ES 2.0, and Open VG 1.1 - ensuring complete compatibility with the most hotly anticipated mobile game titles. ARMADA 628 supports RIM OS, Android(TM), Linux, Windows Mobile, and full Adobe Flash.
Marvell has a long history of delivering multi-core technology to customers for use in a broad variety of applications ranging from home networking, gateways, all the way up to computing-intensive enterprise applications. Most recently, Marvell announced the first implementation of quad-core technology for the ARM ecosystem, further demonstrating Marvell's ability to deliver high performance, flexible technology that meets the silicon requirements of numerous tier-one customers, regardless of the end application.

"These powerful, feature-packed projectors demonstrate Epson's commitment to provide dealers with top-of-the-line products that allow them to design customized home entertainment systems for their customers."

Encased in an elegant black design with a copper lens ring and priced in the sub-$7,000 category, the Pro Cinema 61000 is designed for AV elitists looking for top-of-the-line home entertainment quality and performance.
The Pro Cinema 31000 and Home Cinema 21000 round out Epson's mid-level offerings in the sub-$4,500 and sub-$3,300 categories, respectively. ElcomSoft Releases an All-in-One Wi-Fi Cracking Solution
MOSCOW, September 23, 2010/PRNewswire/ -- ElcomSoft Co. Ltd. upgrades Wireless Security Auditor, a wireless key
recovery solution for Wi-Fi networks, to being a true all-in-one wireless
cracking solution. Elcomsoft Wireless Security Auditor can automatically
locate wireless networks, intercept data packets, and crack WPA/WPA2 PSK
passwords. Adding the support of AirPCap family Wi-Fi adapters, ElcomSoft
Wi-Fi password recovery tool turns any modern laptop with discrete graphics
into a mobile wireless security audit system, and provides mobile forensic
and law enforcement units with access to protected wireless networks.
Background
The original version of Elcomsoft Wireless Security Auditor enabled
network administrators to perform timed attacks on their wireless networks in
order to determine how secure exactly their networks were. In order to
operate, it required ready-made dumps or wireless traffic. The dumps could be
made with a third-party "sniffer" running under Linux or Windows. The
requirement to use a third-party product limited the capabilities and ease of
use of Elcomsoft Wireless Security Auditor.
Integrated Wi-Fi Sniffer
Today, ElcomSoft is integrating a wireless sniffer into Elcomsoft
Wireless Security Auditor. The integrated sniffer turns Elcomsoft Wireless
Security Auditor into a one-button, all-in-one solution ready to be used by
corporate security officers without specific experience in information
security.
The integrated sniffer is utterly convenient. Displaying all available
wireless networks complete with channel numbers, MAC-addresses, SSID, speed,
load and encryption parameters, the sniffer connects to a selected Wi-Fi
network, and logs wireless traffic complete with "handshake" packets required
to starts the password recovery attack.
Laptop-Based Wireless Security Audit
The new built-in sniffer requires the use of a dedicated Wi-Fi adapter,
and supports AirPcap family of hot-pluggable wireless USB adapters. By
supporting AirPcap wireless USB adapters and including the new sniffer in the
package, ElcomSoft makes it possible to turn any modern laptop (*) into a
high-end wireless security audit system.
(*) Laptops with ATI or NVIDIA discrete graphics are recommended to
enable ElcomSoft GPU acceleration.
About Elcomsoft Wireless Security Auditor
Elcomsoft Wireless Security Auditor helps system administrators and
corporate security officers to audit wireless network security. The suite
attempts to recover the original plain-text password protecting Wi-Fi
communications via WPA/WPA2 PSK protocols for a certain time period, ensuring
or disclaiming network resistibility against the most advanced attacks.
Considering the increased security requirements found in WPA/WPA2
protected networks, Elcomsoft Wireless Security Auditor employs the
highest-performance dictionary-attack with advanced mutations to allow
carrying out a password audit within a limited timeframe.
The wireless cracking tool employs ElcomSoft GPU acceleration
technologies, using the massively parallel GPU units of modern ATI and NVIDIA
graphic accelerators to perform computational-intensive calculations. By
employing GPU acceleration, Elcomsoft Wireless Security Auditor becomes one
of the fastest and most cost-efficient Wi-Fi password recovery and wireless
security audit tools on the market.
About AirPcap Product Family
Manufactured by CACE Technologies Inc., the AirPcap family of
hot-pluggable wireless USB adapters is the first open, affordable and
easy-to-deploy Windows-based packet capture solution for Wi-Fi networks.
Supporting 802.11 a/b/g/n protocols, AirPcap captures full 802.11 data
complete with management and control frames. The use of an AirPcap adapter
provides developers with wireless traffic collection and in-depth analysis
capabilities.

The apps were developed in collaboration with DoApp Inc - currently, the largest provider of mobile news apps in the Apple App Store. DoApp's platform "Mobile Local News" is currently used by more than 200 television news stations, radio stations, and newspapers in more than 80 U.S. markets.
"Our goal is to deliver news and information to consumers when and how they want it - and that includes news about retail products and services such as those provided by Southeast Michigan Ford Dealers. These apps are another example of our commitment to do that," Ellwood said.
The release of these applications is part of Detroit Media Partnership's strategic plan to expand the distribution of content on multiple platforms.
