A few simple mouse clicks enable the user to arrange windows quickly into a variety of useful configurations, perfect for the professional who needs to view multiple programs at once. Adding even more versatility, a connectivity feature called Dual-Link Up allows the monitor to connect to two source devices (e.g., smartphones, PCs, cameras, Blu-ray players or gaming systems) and display each on a single screen simultaneously.
By adding a gentle curve to a 21:9 aspect ratio monitor, LG has created a unique product that delivers a more immersive experience. The monitor also features MAXXAUDIO® and 7W stereo speaker system guaranteed to deliver peak audio performance across all frequencies.
LG's 34UC97 will be available nationwide in October at online and regional retailers including Amazon, Tiger Direct, Newegg, Fry's B&H and Adorama for $1,299. For more information please visit, http://www.lg.com/us/ultrawide-monitors.

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ruckus Wireless, Inc. (NYSE: RKUS) announced today the expansion of its line of Smart 802.11ac ZoneFlex(TM) access points (APs) with the launch of four new models. The expanded lineup includes the new Ruckus ZoneFlex R500 (2x2:2) and ZoneFlex R600 (3x3:3) indoor dual-band (2.4/5 GHz) mid-range models, and two new Ruckus ZoneFlex T300 Series outdoor 802.11ac APs, the ZoneFlex T300e omnidirectional model, which includes support for optional external 5 GHz antennas, and the ZoneFlex T301s 120 degree sectorized beam model with a sector adaptive antenna.
These new Smart Wi-Fi access points are the only concurrent, dual-band indoor and outdoor 802.11ac APs on the market to integrate patented Ruckus BeamFlex+(TM) technology for optimal performance and interference mitigation in challenging RF environments, as well as ChannelFly(TM) dynamic channel management technology for predictive channel selection based on real-time capacity analysis of all RF channels. The new outdoor ZoneFlex T300 Series APs also feature the industry's smallest and lightest form factors.
"Our latest ZoneFlex T300 Series outdoor APs provide even more options and flexibility for customers desiring carrier-class, high-capacity, high-density outdoor 11ac Smart Wi-Fi radio technology, including industry-leading lightweight and compact form factors," said Greg Beach, vice president of Product Management, Ruckus Wireless. "Our new indoor, mid-range APs are exceptional, high-performance options for deployments in small to mid-size retail businesses, branch offices of large enterprises, hotel common areas, classrooms and libraries, delivering best-in-class performance and reliability at competitive prices."
New Ruckus ZoneFlex Indoor APs R Smart Wi-Fi for 802.11ac
The Ruckus ZoneFlex R500 dual-band (2.4/5 GHz) 2x2:2 802.11ac access point is designed to deliver high quality wireless connectivity in medium density wireless networks in sites such as mid-size enterprises, hotels, and warehouses. The ZoneFlex R500 is also a great AP for deployment in retail stores to provide inconspicuous, reliable wireless connectivity for video, wireless IP phones and data access for handheld point-of-sale (POS) bar code scanners.
The Ruckus ZoneFlex R600 dual-band (2.4/5 GHz) 3x3:3 802.11ac access point delivers even higher performance with an additional MIMO spatial stream. It is ideal for medium to high client density deployments such as enterprises, branch offices, and retail locations, especially those serving three-spatial stream clients. Both the new ZoneFlex R500 and R600 APs are able to operate with full functionality when powered by a standard Power over Ethernet (PoE) 802.3af switch, eliminating the need for costly switch upgrades. Their sleek, elegant designs are easily concealed and support a variety of mounting options. Additional features include: dual-band support that allows for concurrent Internet and IP-based video services; wired ports that enable easy connections to laptops, VoIP phones, cash registers, printers, and other business devices, and; multiple SSIDs for differentiated user services (e.g., guest Wi-Fi, POS, voice).
Ruckus ZoneFlex 802.11ac APs Continue to Fit Outdoor Environments to a T
Like the Ruckus ZoneFlex T300 omnidirectional and ZoneFlex T301n 30 degree narrow beam models, the new ZoneFlex T300e and T301s APs are incredibly lightweight and feature ultra compact form factors. At just 2 and 2.1 pounds (0.9 kg and 1 kg), respectively, including built-in BeamFlex antennas, the ZoneFlex T300e and T301s are significantly lighter than other outdoor 802.11ac APs. With total dimensions, including their internal antennas, of 5.9"w x 7"d x 3.4"h (15cm x 18cm x 8.6cm) for the ZoneFlex T300e, and 7.6"w x 9.4"d x 4.3"h (19.5cm x 23.9cm x 11cm) for the ZoneFlex T301s, these are among the smallest outdoor 802.11ac APs on the market. Form factor is a critical requirement for many outdoor Wi-Fi applications where aesthetic considerations or minimal visual impact is required. The lightweight feature of the ZoneFlex T300 Series outdoor APs dramatically eases installation and reduces deployment time and labor costs.
The ZoneFlex T300e is equally well suited for high-density outdoor deployments. It includes all of the features of the T300 model, plus offers the ability to attach a wide variety of external 5 GHz antennas for great deployment flexibility. It's ideal for mounting on poles, street corners, and rooftops, and in situations where the AP is remote from antennas or where the AP requires custom engineered RF coverage.
"The Ruckus ZoneFlex T300 access point is exactly what we needed for a cutting-edge, high-density installation we're deploying in New York City to provide coverage over a wide outdoor area," said Alan Rothenstreich, director of Business Development for Pacific Telemanagement Services (PTS), a national public communications company and Ruckus Big Dog partner headquartered in San Ramon, CA.
"The T300 also provides crucial interference mitigation, and it's significantly lighter and smaller than other outdoor 802.11ac APs, which is equally important, since form factor is another key requirement for this combined, integrated indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi network, because we need to address aesthetic and minimal visual impact challenges. Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi is simply unparalleled when it comes to carrier-class, high-capacity, high-density outdoor 11ac technology--all in a great package, and the T300 is enabling us to deliver a reliable, high-performance Wi-Fi network."
The ZoneFlex T301s is similar in features to the T301n model, and has a sector adaptive antenna that is designed specifically for providing the best coverage and capacity at wider 120 degree sectors. The T301s AP is well suited for mounting on poles and ideal for mounting on exterior walls.
Both models are rugged outdoor APs purpose-built to withstand harsh environments, with IP-67 water and dust proof plastic enclosures, operating temperatures of from -4 up to 131 degrees Fahrenheit (from -20 up to 55 degrees Celsius), and wind survivability of up to 165 mph. Both models are easy to install, and support co-location operation with distributed antenna systems (DAS) and small cell radios.
All four of these new Ruckus APs also feature 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE), support up to 500 clients each, and can operate as a standalone AP, or be centrally managed by a Ruckus ZoneDirector(TM) controller, or Ruckus SmartCell(TM) Gateway (SCG) 200 or virtual SmartCell Gateway (vSCG) for maximum scalability.
Better, Smarter Wi-Fi With BeamFlex+
The ZoneFlex R500 and R600 indoor APs and ZoneFlex T300e and T301s outdoor APs all feature Ruckus BeamFlex+ technology, which provides a stronger device signal by adapting to a mobile device's orientation and location. BeamFlex+ can enhance the user experience by helping to ensure a consistent wireless signal. Without it, changing client device orientation can cause up to a 2.5x performance difference. For example, this can mean a change from 25 Mbps to 10 Mbps. BeamFlex+ eliminates this variability and is designed to ensure optimum performance for any client device orientation, making Ruckus ZoneFlex 802.11ac APs perfectly suited for serving the latest mobile devices, like the iPhone 6.
Cloud-enabled Technology
All of these new Ruckus ZoneFlex APs also support Ruckus Smart Wireless Services for maximum deployment flexibility and management options. These Cloud-based Smart Wi-Fi technologies include: the award-winningRuckus Smart Positioning Technology (SPoT(TM)) service, the industry's first Cloud-based Smart positioning location-based service (LBS); the Ruckus Smart Access Management Service (SAMs) for better enabling public Wi-Fi hotspots; and the award-winning Ruckus virtual SmartCell Gateway (vSCG), the industry's first carrier-grade Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) solution for mobile network operators (MNOs), multiple system operators (MSOs), managed service providers (MSPs) and enterprises designed to streamline the creation of highly scalable and resilient cloud-based wireless LAN (WLAN) services.

Mentor Graphics Embedded Linux Technology Powers Network Functions Virtualization Solution on AMD 64-bit ARM SoC
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ARM TECH CON -- Mentor Graphics Corporation (NASDAQ: MENT) today announced the embedded industry's first technical implementation of a network functions virtualization (NFV) solution on a 64-bit ARM® processor with AMD. AMD provides the underlying processor hardware for telecommunications and networking infrastructure solutions, and recognizes the importance of an efficient NFV solution. Thus, AMD engaged Mentor Graphics for its Linux and tools expertise, and Aricent for their networking software solution, to build a platform for today's most demanding networking customers.
The AMD Embedded R-Series 64-bit ARM-based multicore system-on-chip (SoC) codenamed "Hierofalcon," including the Mentor® Embedded Linux® technology and Mentor Graphics® Sourcery(TM) CodeBench tools, and the Aricent network software stack, comprise a NFV platform on the newest high-performance 64-bit ARM architecture. This solution will be demonstrated in the AMD booth #613 at the ARM Tech Con in Santa Clara, California.

New Social Media Platform Qwikword Launches and Begins the One Word Revolution
NEW YORK, Oct. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The unveiling of the new social media app, Qwikword, which is based on one-word immediate reactions to visual stimuli, took place today from the company's corporate offices in New York City.
Qwikword, an instantaneously engaging application that provides users with "sparks," a continuous stream of visual stimuli in the form of pictures, videos and the best of the web, as prompts for one-word immediate reactions. These words, called Qwikwords, become the catalyst for linking the global community.
According to Qwikword CEO/Co-Founder, Italian entrepreneur, Gianmarco Crismale, "Qwikword was born from a simple idea that took over a year of conceptualizing, development, Beta testing, and attention to detail to develop an easy-to-use, ever-changing platform that would connect and open a network of users that wanted the opportunity to move beyond simply hitting a 'like' button. With Qwikword, users can see how other people react to the same spark. During our soft launch we were ecstatic with how users were generating their own sparks and began to immediately build connections and conversations with other users."
Qwikword Vice President/Co-Founder Fulvio Menegozzo added, "The grand vision for Qwikword is to be a global social media application, so we have built many different levels for connecting. Our launch today is focused on the United States and other English-speaking countries. We plan to be available in dozens of other languages, along with incorporating instant translation software, by the middle of 2015. Additionally we continue to improve our algorithm and are developing the app for use in wearable technology including the Apple Watch and Google Glass."
"The ingenuity and overall simplicity of the Qwikword application intrigued me from my initial meeting with the company founders," said Qwikword Attorney and Partner at McDermott, Will & Emery Law Firm, Alan D'Ambrosio. Bloxland Story out now for iOS, Android and Windows Phone
PALMA DE MALLORCA, Spain, October 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
- A puzzle/action game developed in Spain by Talaiot Studio and published by
Bitbox Games
- The game aims to capture the '80s arcade experience in modern devices
Bitbox Games, a Spanish video game publisher, announces that Bloxland Story, from its
partners Talaiot Studio, is now available in Google PlayStore, Apple iTunes and Window
Phone Store, for smartphones and tablets.
Developed over two years, Bloxland Story mixes puzzle strategy and frantic action.
Although the gameplay might look similar to other games from the "match-3" genre, the game
features original mechanics never seen before.
Bloxland Story's art style is strongly inspired by '80s and '90s video games. Catchy
synthesized music combines perfectly with 16-bits pixel-art graphics, reminiscent of the
Arcade Era.
Story Mode, featuring 40 stages through 5 world-zones, puts the player in the shoes of
Kubik and his teleporting machine. Each stage introduces new challenges among different
game conditions: collect blox, against the clock, survival or puzzle resolve. In addition
to Story Mode the game also presents two extra unlockable modes: Survival and (coming
soon) Time Attack.
One of the main attractions of the game resides in the online cross-platform
leaderboards where players can submit their score points and compare them with other
players'.
Bloxland Story was first shown last June at Mallorca Game 2014 (video games event held
in the Balearic Islands) where it was highly acclaimed by the players who were able to
test it. Talaiot Studio developers David Martins and Pablo Beltran describe Bloxland as a

Tabula Revolutionizes Chip and System Design with the Introduction of DesignInsight Technology
News Highlights:
- DesignInsight technology enables a level of design observability never before achieved in the semiconductor industry.
- New technology delivers breakthrough in design verification, diagnostics, and field monitoring, significantly reducing development cost and time to market.
- System designers utilizing the high-performance ABAX² family of 3PLDs will have full visibility of any signal in their design at full speed (up to 2 GHz), whether in the lab or the field without the need to interrupt system operation.
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Tabula Inc., today announced the DesignInsight(TM) technology, a revolutionary solution for the design verification and debug of high-performance systems. The result of a multi-year research and development project, this new technology is available today, at no charge to customers, as a part of version 3.0 of Tabula's Stylus(®) software, supporting the ABAX(®)² P?Series of 3D programmable logic devices. This breakthrough technology delivers unprecedented levels of device observability and will have a profound effect on the economics and time to market of next-generation communications systems. Tabula delivers the DesignInsight compiler bundled with pre-compiled views as part of their 100G solutions for high-performance packet processing applications.
As chip design complexity continues to increase, reducing the development time and subsequent costs associated with verification, validation and debug is a pressing industry challenge. Tabula addresses this complex problem with DesignInsight technology by enabling ABAX(2) customers unprecedented real-time observability into the inner workings of their design, coupled with a seamless verification methodology spanning from RTL simulation to systems deployed in the field. ABAX(2) users can observe signals in a production design operating at full speed (up to 2 GHz) without the need for recompilation or pre-declaration of target signals. Furthermore, there is no need to interrupt the operation of the system in order to change views (collections of signals to be monitored) from one set of signals to another. For Tabula customers, this new technology reduces development costs, accelerates the time to market, increases system uptime/reliability, lowers maintenance costs, and allows for in-depth diagnostics for their end customers.
"With smaller process geometries, the cost of designing chips has skyrocketed, exceeding $90M at 22nm. Verification and validation have become the dominant portion of that cost -- as much as 60% -- and the dominant contributor to development time," said Handel Jones, President of IBS. "Tabula's DesignInsight technology clearly addresses what has become the largest hurdle for leading-edge chip development."
"Being able to unobtrusively observe a design in the field as if it were running in the lab is a game-changer for our customers," said Alain Bismuth, Sr. Vice President and CMO of Tabula. "This capability is unprecedented and creates exciting business opportunities for our customers, especially as it relates to increased system uptime/reliability, lower maintenance costs, and the provision of in-depth diagnostics for their end customers."
More on DesignInsight Technology:
DesignInsight technology consists of three key components, all unique to Tabula:
-- Any register declared in user RTL can be observed or used as a trigger.
-- Any signal can be observed at full speed - up to 2 GHz.
-- No recompilation of the design is required to select signals to observe
or to change which signals are observed.
-- No interruption of the device operations occurs when changing signals or
modifying triggers.
-- New assertions written in SystemVerilog can be created and compiled in
minutes and applied to the design transparently during normal device
operation, even in systems deployed in the field.
-- Signals can be viewed as waveforms using industry-standard viewers or
downloaded as a spreadsheet in CSV format.
The built-in hardware support for the DesignInsight technology in the ABAX2P1 includes:
-- Configurable 1.3 Mb trace buffer
-- Reconstruction unit enabling on-the-fly reconstructions of all signals
including those optimized away during synthesis
-- Programmable 128-bit trigger unit, enabling implementation of functions
such as stateful triggering
-- USB connectivity
Commands for the DesignInsight compiler are written as a Tcl script or SystemVerilog assertions and compiled into views, which are then loaded in to the device while it is running. As a result, for the first time, designers can extend their use of assertions into hardware, whether in the lab or the field, providing a common design verification and debug methodology throughout the product life cycle.
Availability
DesignInsight technology is available immediately at no charge, as part of the Stylus 3.0 release and with any of Tabula's development boards. In addition, pre-compiled DesignInsight views are delivered with all of Tabula's 100G pre-engineered solutions, providing users with examples of how this breakthrough technology can provide visibility into key elements of these solutions.

Casio Encourages Digital Learning With Introduction Of C-Assist
New Mobile Application Offers Comprehensive Feature-Set for Easy Classroom Integration
DOVER, N.J., Sept. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Technology is becoming more mainstream in the classroom and educators are always seeking new ideas and tools to seamlessly integrate it into their lessons. With budget cuts on the rise, the best education technologies enable educators to do more with fewer resources. Casio America, Inc. introduced a new, free mobile application called C-Assist. C-Assist offers educators a suite of tools that work wirelessly in conjunction with Casio's portfolio of projectors, including the Ultra Short Throw XJ-UT310WN.
"Classroom technology should empower and enhance a teacher's performance, in addition to encourage a higher level of engagement among students," said Matt Mustachio, General Manager of Casio's Business Projector Division. "With C-Assist, teachers will have a full set of tools at their disposal which are tailored to increase efficiency and dynamically transform the classroom."
C-Assist Mobile Application
C-Assist is compatible with both Apple(®) and Android(®) platforms and enables educators to display and annotate content and presentations directly from a mobile device. One additional function is remote PC access which allows users to remotely access and display content on a PC connected to the projector. Real-time projection of photos can be enabled by activating the device camera with the dedicated app. This also allows educators to use a mobile device as a hand-held document camera, which proves helpful for projecting 3D objects in real-life circumstances. In addition, there is also an image capture function using the mobile device's camera to snap an image and send it directly to a Casio projector. While using C-Assist, educators can also access the Web and project online content on a large screen.
Mirroring with Casio's Calculators
As an added bonus, educators can display content directly from Casio's graphing calculators, including the color fx-CG10/PRIZM and ClassPad400. Mirroring content in real-time from the calculators offers educators the chance to solve mathematical problems step-by-step, and display graphs and content that would have otherwise needed additional software or hardware. Simply plug the calculators' USB cable into the projector and you are ready to go.

Keep Your Music And The Party Going With SOL REPUBLIC x Motorola's DECK ULTRA Bluetooth Speaker
DECK ULTRA offers shocking loudness, all-day battery life and extended wireless range and makes music social again with Heist Mode(TM)
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sharing a commitment to enhance music experiences, SOL REPUBLIC and Motorola announce the DECK ULTRA wireless Bluetooth speaker. Thunderously loud and feature-packed, this portable speaker brings every party to life. DECK ULTRA doubled-down by taking all the amazing features of its predecessor, DECK, and made them even better with 2x the loudness, 2x the battery life and another 100 feet of wireless range. The 450-foot wireless range lets anyone within a football-field radius share their music, while an impressive 22-hour battery life keeps the party going all night, with enough juice left over to get you through cleanup the next day. Your cell will need a recharge before DECK ULTRA ever does. Accompanying these enhancements is fan-favorite feature Heist Mode(TM), which allows five friends to sync to DECK ULTRA at the same time so they can take turns being the DJ.
"Sometimes more is better. DECK ULTRA is all about excessive loudness, insane range and a battery life you don't have to worry about," said Kevin Lee, CEO and co-founder, SOL REPUBLIC. "We packed big speaker sound into a portable powerhouse so music fans can crank it up, whether they're at home or on the go."
DECK ULTRA is one of the only speakers on the market that has big, 360-degree sound without the big form factor. It is small enough to fit into any bag so you can bring loud with you. Twice as loud as the original DECK, or any other speaker on the market, DECK ULTRA also has a giant bass port to deliver SOL REPUBLIC's signature sound with bass so powerful that you can feel it. And when you need a Bluetooth speaker that's loud enough for a tailgate, the beach or a skate park, DECK ULTRA delivers thanks to its proprietary Outdoor Boost, which optimizes sound to make your music dominant even in loud, outdoor environments.
No one wants to interrupt an epic night because you lost your Bluetooth connection or cut it short because the battery died. DECK ULTRA's Super Power Wireless(TM) capability uses the most powerful and reliable Bluetooth technology available and it lets you play music up to an astonishing 450 feet away from your device. The time has come for a wireless speaker that doesn't need your phone right next to it to play. With Super Power Wireless, DECK ULTRA allows anyone, anywhere to be the DJ.
Increased Bluetooth range and extended battery life? Check. But what really makes DECK ULTRA different is SOL REPUBLIC's signature Heist Mode technology, which lets up to five friends simultaneously sync and take turns controlling the music. Gone are the days where the party goes on pause while you wait for your friend to unpair his phone or, worse, the party comes to a halt while you're stuck suffering through someone's tired playlist. Simply sync alongside your friends and heist those mood-killing slow jams with a fresh beat to take your event to the next level. Seamlessly switch between songs, playlists and even DJs via NFC or your iPhone's Bluetooth function. Game-changing Heist Mode, only found in SOL REPUBLIC Bluetooth speakers, provides music lovers the ideal shared music experience. After all, five DJs are better than one.
Slim and portable, throw DECK ULTRA in your bag so you have it anytime you want to blast your music louder and longer. DECK ULTRA also features Line-In and Line-Out ports that let you connect, via 3.5mm cable, to non-Bluetooth devices or use DECK ULTRA as a Bluetooth hub for your home or car stereo for the ultimate wireless control. And don't think your impromptu party means your phone is out of commission. Incoming calls are crystal clear when DECK ULTRA doubles as a powerful speakerphone for when you get a call. Music is immediately paused and, once you hang up, DECK ULTRA picks up right where it left off getting you back to your music.
DECK ULTRA is available now in Gunmetal and Horizon Blue for $149.99 at Best Buy, SOLREPUBLIC.com and other leading nationwide retailers.

compelling game elements with a proven gambling mechanic. Players take

alien fleet. Players must be strategic or suffer destruction. The game
includes a 5 reel 3 line slot machine with a double or nothing bonus
game that inserts essential digital virtual goods to continue gameplay.
-- Lucky Words: A turn-based multiplayer word game that challenges players
to generate the most points. Think carefully! Each letter/word placement
on the board has consequences. Featuring a themed gambling mechanic that
spells out words to win money, players can also win game credits to buy
power ups.
-- Police Pooches: A fun take on one of today's most popular game genres. A

player game offers two ways to win: winning the game and how many gems
are collected. When a player claims a jewel a real-time wager begins to
determine where the money goes!
Partner Developed Games:
-- Hatching Dragons (Gamiker): A match-3 style game where players swap and
match colored eggs. When matching 4 or more eggs, baby dragons hatch
which have various egg-clearing powers. When golden eggs appear, players
can use them as a wildcard in any match, triggering a themed wager event
where a baby dragon sneezes fire at wooden knights.
-- Spinnr (Double Coconut Studio): A word puzzle game where players choose
a category, spin a wheel for points and guess letters with the goal of
solving the puzzle. When players select correct letters, a wager occurs
and a real-money prize wheel spins. Spinner offers both a single player
mode with 3 lives and multiplayer round-based gameplay with random
players and friends.
-- Epic Slots Saga (NS Studios): An RPG slot machine where users play a
slot machine to gain experience and level up through 6 zones. Players
encounter powerful monsters and battle through a card mini-game,
unlocking an arsenal of weapons and selection of avatars. As the
character levels, players can upgrade their stats to challenge even
stronger monsters.
-- Flex Slots (Flexball): An RPG that enables players to journey through
exciting worlds as an avatar taking chances on slot machines as they
explore. The game also includes two mini games, a gamble and a bonus
which can appear while playing.

Best-selling author puts Paris Vacation Apartments in the palm of your hand with a 1st of its kind ebook
The Paris Vacation Apartment Guide: Rent with Confidence - Learn Where to Stay Without Getting Overwhelmed, Ripped-Off or Scammed!
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- NY state native Robyn Webb, has written 17 cookbooks, sold nearly a million, travelled the world... and wrote this first of its kind ebook, The Paris Vacation Apartment Guide: Rent with Confidence -- Learn Where to Stay Without Getting Overwhelmed, Ripped-Off or Scammed! (Amazon).
Long title but great premise: after many trips to Paris, Robyn wanted to try staying at a vacation apartment but was overwhelmed by all the choices with listing services and scared of being ripped-off by an agency. There were no books to guide her so she wrote one!
This is award-winning author Robyn Webb's very personal guide to a side of Paris rarely seen from the confines of a hotel room. This fun and informative ebook eliminates the fear-factor of renting in a foreign country and is written for all travelers including families on a budget, girlfriends on a getaway, and jaded tourists.
The book covers the why, where, and when of apartment hunting in Paris, along with cautionary tales, warnings and the what ifs. After months of research, Robyn narrows the search for reliable rental agencies to her top choices based on her very strict criteria for a hassle-free and memorable holiday; she filled the book with hyperlinked maps of the city, photos of stylish apartments, the best streets to rent on in each area -- all just one click away!
Robyn turned her back on hotel room service, non-stop tipping and the chatter of tourists: "I was scared but curious about renting a Paris vacation apartment, and outside of a few articles, I had nowhere and no one to turn to for advice. I really wrote this book for me and I am so pleased to share it with other Parisophiles!"
Robyn grew-up in the hotel business, literally; both her parents worked for a legendary New York hotel and her family lived on-site. Fine food, celebrities and bell stand were all part of her daily life. "Hotels have always been a home away from home for me... so I was surprised how much I loved renting a vacation apartment," she admits.
Unlike reserving a hotel room, finding an apartment requires due diligence and more decision-making than checking in at a hotel front desk. But the rewards of settling into a home away from home are many: waking up in a sun-drenched apartment; breakfasting with freshly baked croissants from the corner boulangerie; shopping at the local marche; cooking in your own kitchen; this is the Paris Robyn Webb hopes you will discover with The Paris Vacation Apartment Guide: Rent with Confidence -- Learn Where to Stay Without Getting Overwhelmed, Ripped-Off or Scammed!
Robyn Webb:
Robyn Webb is an award-winning cookbook author, nutritionist, culinary instructor, Food Editor of Diabetes Forecast Magazine and recipient of the prestigious President's Council on Fitness' Healthy American Fitness Leader Award.
Robyn grew-up in the hotel business, literally; both her parents worked for the legendary Concord hotel in NY's Catskill Mountains and her family lived on-site. Fine food, celebrities and bell stand were all part of her daily life.
Her father was a comedian and actor, appearing on top American daytime talk shows like Merv Griffin and Mike Douglas, among others. His friends often came to visit, including comedian Rodney Dangerfield, who lived with them for some time, and Tony Award winning dancer and actor Gregory Hines who performed at Robyn's first birthday party.
Combining her love of food with her love of travel, this globetrotter has been to almost every continent (Antarctica is on her to-do list), nearly 70 countries and every state in the union. Her favorite place on earth: Paris, of course, which she hopes you will discover in The Paris Vacation Apartments Guide: Where to Stay Without Getting Overwhelmed, Ripped-Off or Scammed.
Until her next journey, Robyn, a native of Monticello, NY, can be found at her homes in Alexandria, VA and Miami, FL.

Hikvision Brings Award-Winning Surveillance Equipment to Building Information Modeling
CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif., Sept. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Hikvision®, a multiple award-winning innovator of video surveillance products and solutions, now presents a new line of BIM security cameras that can be integrated seamlessly with specifiers' and engineers' Autodesk Revit models. This content is available via Autodesk Seek, a leading web service that allows users to find, preview, and download BIM components from a library of over 66,000 items. The finished design is a marriage of value engineering and aesthetic coordination.
Security system designers using Revit software can include Hikvision cameras as CAD elements. System layout and camera field of view are accurately viewed at the earliest stages of the design process, improving device placement, decreasing incompatibility issues, and boosting efficiency overall. In this way, video surveillance is transformed from an afterthought to an architectural cornerstone - a trend that is especially suited for Hikvision's user-friendly and highly scalable products.
Hikvision's award-winning array of video surveillance solutions, including bullet, dome, box, turret, PTZ, and fisheye cameras, as well as rackmount and standalone DVRs and NVRs, are all available options. With functionality and usability as Hikvision trademarks, the BIM counterparts to the real-life technology follow suit. Users can see exactly where a camera will be placed, what its blind spots might be, and even what the scene will look like through the camera lens. Important details such as product features, model numbers, and physical characteristics are included in the models for a quick reference to designers and can be changed with a click of the mouse.
"The design, visualization, and simulation capabilities of Building Information Modeling make BIM a crucial part of contemporary architectural design," said Christine Mann, solutions executive at Autodesk. "As video surveillance systems become increasingly more prevalent in building infrastructure, Hikvision proves its commitment to security system designers. It provides Revit and Seek users with high-quality content that helps them envision camera operation and aesthetics in the real world."
Vince Lupe, director of business development for Hikvision USA, elaborated on the benefits of Hikvision's integration with Seek. Fluke Networks Delivers World's First Cloud-Connected Cable Certification Tool to Optimize Test Results Management and Maximize Project Profitability
Now with LinkWare(TM) Live, the Versiv(TM) family of certification testers enables cable installers to upload, analyze and manage copper and fiber test results--anytime, anywhere
ANAHEIM, Calif., Sept. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Today at the BICSI Fall Conference & Exhibition, Fluke Networks is unveiling LinkWare(TM) Live, the first cloud-based service that enables contractors, cable installers and project managers using the Versiv(TM) family of certification testers to upload, manage, and analyze certification test results from cabling projects--anytime, anywhere. LinkWare Live works with DSX-5000(TM), OptiFiber® Pro, and CertiFiber® Pro certification testers to optimize project management and safeguard contractor profitability by providing real-time access to testing results, extending support to technicians in the field, and eliminating costly truck rolls simply for tester transport back to the office. LinkWare Live is a free service available to all Versiv customers.
According to recent Fluke Networks surveys of more than 1,000 cable installers (who had collectively installed approximately 1 million links in the previous month), poor test results management creates a significant drag on productivity and profitability:
-- Eighty-three percent reported having one or more test results management
issues in the month prior to the survey
-- The average time contractors spent dealing with test result issues in a
single month was 15.2 hours--nearly two full workdays, not including the
hours required to get the test results back to the office for analyzing
and reporting
-- Half of the respondents said it would be beneficial to access project
status information from any location
Project managers struggle with manual, error-prone results management processes
Collecting certification test results is a significant challenge because they are stored in testers that frequently move from one job site to another. These job sites can be hundreds of miles away from one another, as well as from headquarters. Accidentally erased or failed memory cards can negate several days' worth of work, leading to costly truck rolls, lowered profit margins and delayed payment.
LinkWare Live saves time, reduces rework and improves profitability
By uploading tests to LinkWare Live regularly, project managers can save trips solely to collect results, prevent data loss and continuously track project progress. LinkWare Live also automatically organizes test results by job, eliminating the painstaking task of manually combining files from multiple testers.
Managing test results through a cloud-based service offers significant advantages:
-- Increased productivity by no longer needing to manually transport
testers from the field just to download test results
-- Reduced time spent categorizing and compiling test results by
automatically consolidating them into the correct job
-- Less rework by reducing the likelihood of losing test results when
testers or memory cards are lost, stolen or erased
-- Faster troubleshooting by providing instant access to results from
anywhere
-- Real-time visibility into project status from any location
Using LinkWare Live, contractors can achieve greater project profitability; increase the potential for more project wins; and use its unique analytics and benchmarking to improve installation, certification and troubleshooting efforts out in the field.
Quotes:
"We've been using LinkWare Live with our Versiv testers, and one of the biggest benefits we've seen is the ability to upload test results from the field so we can actually keep our testers in the field, where they are making us money," said Chris Tracy, project manager at Skyline Properties. "We have to provide regular testing reports to show our progress and get paid for the work we've completed. With LinkWare Live and Versiv, we don't have to stop testing to bring the tester back to the office each week, so we not only save valuable time, we can also invoice sooner and get paid more quickly."
"From the introduction of our first cabling certification solution in 1997, we've meticulously designed our products to meet the ever-evolving needs of cabling contractors. One need that hasn't changed is fast, accurate certification results that contractors and their customers can trust. Our primary objective is to increase contractor profitability by helping streamline workflows," said Jason Wilbur, vice president and general manager of the Datacom Installation business unit at Fluke Networks. "LinkWare Live is the next step in the evolution of cable testing and certification, offering the industry's first 'anywhere, anytime' visibility, ensuring every project is done right - the first time, on time."

MAZ Re-Imagines The Future Of Mobile & Tablet Magazines For iOS 8
NEW YORK, Sept. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- MAZ, whose publishing platform powers nearly 1,000 apps for publishers like Conde Nast, Forbes, USA Today, and The Economist, announced a total overhaul of their iOS apps in conjunction with the release of iOS 8 as well as iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Their managed cloud services automatically updated and submitted all apps running on the MAZ platform to Apple without publishers needing to do any additional work.
The updated apps feature a modern, gesture-based storefront redesign that draws inspiration from the physical world. Apps open with a stack of covers like one would find on a coffee table. However, using the power and depth of iOS 8's graphics engine, the apps are distinctly digital in their use of live-frosted colors, minimalist interface, and uniquely placed play buttons that one would normally expect to see in a video or music app.
"It's time to start asking the tough questions," says MAZ CEO, Paul Canetti. "The mobile and tablet world is very different from print, and what I've seen is a lot of the publishing industry just spinning its wheels. We're building a new paradigm that actually makes money for publishers using state-of-the-art technology and impeccable design."
The redesigned apps are specifically geared to drive more revenue for publishers using purposeful design and deep consumer marketing research. Each app now has free content previews with targeted marketing tools aimed at converting more people into paid users.
In addition to improved sales conversion tools, the updated apps now offer new and unique monetization options for publishers by introducing an interactive carousel of dynamic ads that can be sold as prime inventory to advertisers.
The new MAZ updates are now available for all publishers using MAZ. Visit mazdigital.com for more information.
