The company today announced six new offerings that will help organizations manage the increasing volume, velocity, variety and longevity of data in today's rapidly evolving data center. In addition to maintaining its longstanding leadership in storage devices, the new offerings demonstrate HGST's commitment to transform the data center and itself through hardware and software solutions that elevate the value it provides to partners and customers. By creating innovative solutions that shape the emerging categories of Flash fabric solutions and active archive solutions, HGST is driving the data center evolution by helping organizations readily extract the information, knowledge and wisdom that lies within their data.
Data Transforms the Storage Industry: Long Live Data(TM)
Data is the currency of the new economy. In today's digital world, the use of data has transformed from simply recording transactions to using data to gain understanding, drive predictions, make real time decisions and offer new insights - giving businesses the ultimate competitive edge. As this change in use and consumption continues to accelerate, data centers must be optimized to capture or connect to larger amounts of data from new sources, and maintain accessibility to that data over longer periods of time. With the amount of data being created and replicated doubling every two years, storing, retaining, accessing and transforming massive volumes of data has placed storage at the heart of the data center. Storage must be faster, more elastic, more accessible and more affordable, and HGST is delivering those solutions that help the world harness the power of data.
HGST Extracts Value through "Device Affinity"
Building on its deep expertise in storage devices and technologies, HGST has developed innovative methods to extract increased efficiencies, performance and reliability through advanced software and firmware that provides tight, end-to-end integration of underlying device capabilities with higher level functions at the subsystem, system and application level. By leveraging this device affinity, solutions can be created with significantly higher value over standalone devices.

Setting New Standards in Capacity, TCO: All Future HGST Enterprise Capacity HDDs Will Utilize the HelioSeal Platform
HGST's high-volume air-based platform has been delivering on the promise of high-capacity, high-reliability and performance for decades. However, as the industry continues to push device capacities higher and higher, a transition to helium sealed HDD technology will become essential to achieving these increases while also maintaining reliability. HGST's HelioSeal platform represents proven innovation in high capacity HDD technology and reliability. Already widely adopted by top OEMs and the largest search, social and cloud service providers, the HelioSeal platform will be used for all future HGST capacity enterprise HDDs. As the first and only company to ship hermetically sealed, helium-filled HDDs, HGST provides with its helium platform a long-term path for delivering the highest capacities, while significantly lowering power consumption and cooling, and providing the reliability demanded by data center operators.
-- 8TB HDD Now Shipping, Delivering 33 Percent More Capacity and 23 Percent
Lower Power(*) - HGST's 8TB Ultrastar He8 is the company's
second-generation helium-filled HDD. The 8TB Ultrastar He8 extends
HGST's leadership in delivering technology and innovation that advances
the TCO value proposition for cloud data centers, enterprises, OEMs and
system integrators. Outstripping what any HDD vendor can do using air,
the Ultrastar He8 enables more efficient data center designs and
operations by reducing the physical and carbon footprint of the overall
storage systems. Addressing the largest data center challenges, the
sealed, helium-filled hard drives enable lower power consumption and
higher density storage systems, requiring less rack space. Additionally,
the helium-sealed hard drives require less cooling and can be used more
reliably in wider operating environments such as ambient data centers.
Based on mainstream perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) technology,
the Ultrastar He8 can be deployed into any application or environment
without tradeoffs in performance or device compatibility. The Ultrastar
He8 comes in both 8TB and 6TB capacities. The drives are currently being
qualified by leading companies such as Netflix, Huawei, Inspur and
Promise Technology as well as other top OEMs and cloud customers around
the world.
-- World's First 10TB HDD with the Lowest $/TB and Watt/TB - HGST announces
the world's first data center-class 10TB HDD for cloud and cold storage
applications. This drive sets unprecedented capacity leadership at the
lowest $/TB and watt/TB by harnessing two complementary technologies:
HelioSeal technology and Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR). The additive
nature of these two technologies enables the future design platform for
HDDs in delivering higher capacity points at accelerated time-to-market
entry. It also provides the foundation for all future scaling
technologies, putting HGST on an accelerated path to delivering high
capacities into existing and future form factor designs. HGST is

HGST Targets New Greenfield Storage Category: Active Archive
While deep archiving remains a "write once" and hope to "read never" practice, high growth applications and use cases are driving the emergence of new forms of long term data storage. Social media, regulatory compliance and analytics, which demand ongoing random access to historical or long-tail data, are driving new requirements for high capacity data center storage. In addition to massive scalability, these environments require extremely low cost and high efficiency. Traditionally, tape has offered a low cost method for high capacity storage, but fails to provide fast access to random data sets. Mainstream disk-based storage can meet the performance requirements, but has not been able to meet the cost requirements for petabyte scale storage environments.
To address the growing market requirements for active archive solutions, HGST is driving new vectors of innovation to create active archive platforms that satisfy the demands in cost, performance, efficiency and reliability. This new category of data center storage solution aims to provide a 10x increase in storage density and power efficiency compared to traditional enterprise data center solutions and a 5x increase in storage density and power efficiency compared to commonly used scale out cloud data center solutions. Targeting capacities of over 10 petabytes in a single data center rack, HGST's active archive platform leverages industry leading device capacities along with additional points of device affinity that enable enhanced density, performance, efficiency and reliability. By doing so, the company aims to offer the lowest $/TB and Watts/TB in the highest capacity per rack available. Active archive platforms can be configured for a complete range of storage architectures including scale out object storage solutions for public and private cloud data centers.
HGST has begun sample delivery of the active archive platform to strategic partners. Complete details and specifications will be available in early 2015.
"At every step, we are innovating with purpose and pace to exceed the expectations of our customers by offering the broadest portfolio of SSDs, HDDs, software and solutions in the industry," said Mike Cordano, president of HGST. "By providing complete solutions for both performance and capacity centric environments, we're enabling our data center customers and partners to focus on developing new services and capabilities that drive competitive differentiation and profitability for their businesses. The products and solutions announced today ensure that HGST sustains its heritage as the most trusted provider of innovative data storage offerings to maintain market leadership."

Audio Precision Sets New Performance Standard With APx555 Audio Analyzer
BEAVERTON, Ore., Sept. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Audio Precision, the recognized standard in audio test, announces the availability of the finest audio analyzer to date, the APx555. A culmination of 30 years of experience, the APx555 is the most powerful and capable audio test instrument ever developed.
The APx555 outperforms the legendary Audio Precision SYS-2700 series, the previous leader in analog audio performance. Leveraging the modular architecture and powerful software of the APx family, the APx555 delivers improved measurement accuracy, speed, flexibility, automation and ease-of-use for developers of audio components, equipment and systems.
Unmatched analog performance With a typical residual THD+N of -120 dB (conservatively specified at -117 dB), the two analog channels of the APx555 boast the lowest noise and distortion of any audio analyzer ever made, allowing the most sensitive measurements to be made with assurance. This extraordinary performance is coupled with 1 MHz bandwidth (mono) and an industry-leading FFT resolution of 1.2 million points. The generator is capable of producing low distortion sine wave signals up to 204 kHz, at high-level amplitudes up to 26 Vrms.
The APx555 offers audio developers previously unachievable insight into the behavior of their designs, unimpaired by noise or artifacts from the test system.
"The APx555 represents a lifetime of work in audio test," says AP co-founder and Chief Analog Designer,Bruce Hofer. "It pushes analog circuit design to the edge of understanding and accounts for many previously unseen anomalies, achieving real, measurable performance that exceeds any other."
Flexible operation, broad digital I/O support In conjunction with the APx555 introduction, Audio Precision is releasing the new APx500 v4.0 software, which provides a multi-mode user interface for the entire APx family of analyzers. Developed with system flexibility in mind, the software allows easy switching between Sequence Mode â the fast and efficient menu of measurements with which APx users worldwide are familiar â and Bench Mode, a SYS-2700 series-inspired approach that delivers real-time feedback of any selected parameters, including waveform scope, FFT spectrum, levels, frequency, THD+N, and more. Engineers may choose the mode that best suits their needs with a click of a mouse button.
"Bench Mode offers more visibility into real-time behaviors," says Eric Cline, Engineering Technician at Analog Devices. "Being able to see everything at once is a huge deal - distortion, noise, and signal level on meters is incredibly important. It definitely answers my requests, offering the best of both of worlds. You have the APx ease-of-use, but can still have all the measurements, all on one screen, when you need it."
Regarding digital I/O, AES3 and S/PDIF are standard to the APx555, with the instrument also supporting the entire range of APx options, allowing native connectivity and analysis of audio via Bluetooth, HDMI, Digital Serial (I2S, TDM) and PDM (1-bit oversampled) formats. Â The APx555 provides a full range of AES3 and S/PDIF digital output impairments, including jitter generation and analysis. A new Advanced Master Clock handles input and output clock signals to synchronize the APx555 with external equipment.
The evolution of audio test The APx series uses a modular architecture that supports a wide range of digital I/O, ensuring that as formats change APx options will be ready to support the audio industry. APx500 measurement software is under constant development, keeping pace with new standards and methods in audio test.
"We are incredibly proud of the APx555 and APx500 v4.0 software," adds AP PresidentDavid Schmoldt. "The APx family covers every audio test need from high-speed production to the most refined and demanding research and development, and it is ready for whatever changes the industry may bring. Only AP could deliver such an uncompromising package of world-class performance, flexibility, speed and ease-of-use for the audio professionals we serve."

New ITAS version for magnetic and adhesive installation adds even more versatility to Hirschmann's plug-and-play Iridium smart antenna.
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Sept. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its ongoing efforts to pioneer innovations in satellite communication technology, Hirschmann Solutions, a leading supplier of antenna and transceiver systems for M2M (machine to machine) and automotive communications, introduces its newest addition in solutions for fleet and asset management, the magnetic and adhesive mount Iridium Transceiver Antenna System (ITAS-m/a).
Adding versatility to the ITAS, the first available and highest-performing Iridium smart-antenna in the market, Hirschmann is now releasing the magnetic and adhesive mount version. Engineered for tracking and telemetry systems, the ITAS solution has the ability to communicate outside of traditional cellular networks (or terrestrial communication networks) by utilizing Iridium's 66 Low Earth Orbiting satellites to provide impeccable service around the globe. The new magnetic and adhesive mount plug-and-play unit provides customers an accelerated time-to-market for their satellite communication needs making the ITAS even more versatile and easier to integrate than before.
"The ITAS provides a unique solution for the development and deployment of modern, satellite based communication systems," said Frank Homann, president of Hirschmann USA. "Today's mobile resource management activities call for maximum flexibility and reliability in equipment deployment - requiring a highly experienced system partner to provide communication technology that adapts to all scenarios within and outside of terrestrial communication networks."
In a single housing, the ITAS contains a high-performance antenna, Iridium 9602 SBD modem, power regulation and serial communication interface in order to effortlessly integrate global Short Burst Data (SBD) communication for the best possible service.
In addition to non-fused protection against electrical transients (ESD, load dump, etc. per SAE J1113/11/12/13), the ITAS family of products features fused over-current protection allowing for use with unregulated power supplies of 8-32VDC. ITAS' automotive grade M12-8 pin connector assembly terminates and grounds the cable-shield making the ITAS perfectly suited for use in electrically noisy environments. These are distinct advantages for problem-free use in the widest variety of applications. The system also offers various options of available extension cables with waterproof connectors.
ITAS provides reliable data transmission for all asset management and safety-related applications, including tracking and telemetry for the heavy machinery market, on- and off-highway vehicles traveling to remote locations or assets that require close monitoring outside of the cellular infrastructure. It also allows existing systems to expand by simply connecting additional communication services through a defined interface, providing the ultimate design flexibility for pre-existing telematic solutions.
Hirschmann's communication products are available from Hirschmann directly or through Hirschmann's distribution partners. Tailored product packages including Iridium airtime are available in cooperation with Hirschmann's partners.

InformationWeek Is Hands-On With HTC's One (M8) Smartphone
This week, InformationWeek is offering readers a hands-on review of the new HTC One smartphone that uses Microsoft's Windows 8.1 mobile OS.
NEW YORK, Sept. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- When it comes to the smartphone market, Microsoft's Windows Phone operating system is hemmed in by Apple and its iPhone and iOS combo on one side, and by Google's ubiquitous Android OS on the other. However, can the new HTC One (M8) with Windows Phone 8.1 break the mold?
On InformationWeek, Associate Editor Michael Endler goes hands-on with the new HTC One (M8) to see if Microsoft has the ability to make itself a third force in the smartphone operating system market.
One aspect that stands out in Endler's review is that HTC gives the Windows Phone operating system an extra dimension to compete against all those Android devices. He explains: "Previously, if you wanted a flagship Windows Phone, you were basically stuck with bright-colored, plastic-encased Nokia models. Many of them are fine phones, but compared to the cornucopia of styles available to Android users, the Windows Phone catalogue has lacked variety, especially at the premium end."
For business users, Endler finds that the smartphone can sync easily with other Microsoft accounts, especially Office 365. He also puts Cortana, the Windows Phone virtual assistant, through a number of tests.
Does the HTC One have what it takes to make Microsoft's Windows Phone stand out in the smartphone market? Read the rest of Endler's review at InformationWeek, and then let us know what you think in the comments section.

SHARP Introduces PN-Y Series of Professional LED Displays
New display line offers businesses affordable, professional quality displays, an ideal option for small businesses
MAHWAH, N.J., Sept. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America (SIICA), a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation, is introducing the PN-Y series of professional LED edge-lit displays. Available in 55, 47, 42, or 32 inch class sizes, the PN-Y series of monitors offer businesses a commercial-grade LED display solution at an affordable price. This collection provides an intermediate range of options between consumer AQUOS(®) televisions and the higher-end PN-U series of LED displays, making it ideal for small and mid-sized businesses.
Businesses often opt to use consumer televisions in commercial settings due to their lower price, forfeiting the functionality and engineering designed specifically for commercial use. This latest series of displays provide a high-definition, tech-forward solution while remaining cost-effective for most commercial applications.
Able to display content in both landscape and portrait installations, the PN-Y series is equipped with the standard features of traditional commercial displays including fanless architecture, built-in temperature sensor, and RS-232C control and monitoring. The models also incorporate a thin bezel and are designed to be operated 20 hours a day, 7-days-a-week.
"The PN-Y series allows us to bridge the gap between our AQUOS consumer-grade televisions and our professional-grade displays to provide our customers with an affordable middle option," said Mike Marusic, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Operations, SIICA. "This series is incremental to our product line and gives customers many of the features of these higher-end professional displays plus additional capabilities designed for this target audience."
The PN-Y series also includes features new to this class of displays including a mirror display mode, or daisy chain capability which allows users to have the same onscreen content displayed on a series of PN-Y monitors. Also available in this series is the ability for PC-free playback of content through the inclusion of an integrated USB media player.

New Application is Latest Addition to Family of Self-Service Apps that Enable Mobile Operators and Retailers to Extend Content Transfer Beyond the Point of Sale
LAS VEGAS, September 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Today at Super Mobility Week powered by CTIA [http://www.supermobilityweek.com ],
Cellebrite [http://www.cellebrite.com ], the leading provider of retail mobile data
solutions announced a new, on-device app that gives mobile consumers a powerful
self-service tool to move contacts, pictures, and other content from an old phone to a
newly purchased handset anytime and anywhere. Branded for the mobile retailer,
Cellebrite's Phone-to-Phone (P2P) Transfer App can be employed without the use of
hardware, instead using the phones' WiFi capabilities to establish a secure,
phone-to-phone connection between the source and target devices. The application allows
mobile operators and retailers to extend high-value new phone support to their online
customers while gaining greater flexibility in managing service delivery in the store.
"Today's mobile operators and retailers have diverse customer bases with varying
technological aptitudes and preferences for how and where they buy and eventually seek
support. The only constant is the expectation that their needs will be met," said Amir
Lehr, VP of Cellular Products and Business Development at Cellebrite.
Mobile operators and retailers will benefit from the following key features:
- Wireless connectivity enables easy download from application stores and
online retailer's websites and fast transfer of personal content data
- Phone-to-phone data transfer allows consumers to transfer phonebooks,
pictures, videos, audio files and SMS text messages from all smartphone memory and SIM
cards
- Cross-platform functionality supports transfer of content between Android, iOS
and Blackberry operating systems
- Content transfer flexibility allows users to select content to be transferred
by category. The storage size for each category displays to aid the user in this
selection
- Secure data transfer ensures that content is moved directly from a user's old
phone to the new device, without storing data in the cloud or within the app
Cellebrite's P2P Transfer Application complements the company's existing Self-Care
Diagnostics App
[http://www.cellebrite.com/mobile-retail/solutions/diagnostics-and-repair-avoidance ] -
putting a powerful combination of sales and service capabilities at the smartphone owner's
fingertips. While the transfer app addresses customers' needs at the point of purchase or
upgrade, Self-Care covers the most important post-sale service need: detecting and
correcting phone problems quickly and accurately to avoid loss of use and expensive repair
bookings.
"It's critical that mobile retailers adapt their service model to meet the evolving
needs of their customers - that includes online shoppers who may never step into a store,"
said Lehr. "The combination of Cellebrite's in-store, call center, and on-device solutions
give retailers the tools they need to drive high customer satisfaction with consistent,
convenient and effective experiences across every channel."
Visit booth #1665 during Super Mobility Week, from Sept. 9 - 11 to demo Cellebrite's

MBX Delivers New Turnkey Solutions for Digital Security Vendors
Simplifies Access Control & Video Surveillance Deployments with Fully Integrated, Built-to-Order Hardware/Software Systems
LIBERTYVILLE, Ill., Sept. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- MBX Systems today announced an expansion of its turnkey hardware/software services for digital security vendors with the addition of access control platforms to its existing video surveillance offerings. Providers in both markets can now simplify deployment at end user sites by utilizing MBX to engineer, build, brand, inventory and ship custom servers pre-loaded and pre-tested with the vendor's software, configured to match the end customer's environment where required, and kitted with the required accessories - all at a significantly lower total cost of ownership than managing these tasks internally.
With nearly two decades of building hardware appliances for dozens of industries, MBX entered the video security and management systems market several years ago with customers such as point-of-sale video auditing pioneer Agilence, Inc. MBX designs and builds customized Agilence-branded systems, holds the finished base units in stock, and configures them on demand for each retail store, saving at least four hours of build time per unit over Agilence's previous strategy of handling each build in-house using off-the-shelf servers. MBX also drop-ships each order; packages it with a keyboard, mouse, monitor, cables, UPS and surge protectors; and manages returns and RMAs.
Now physical access control vendors can use the same MBX capabilities to deliver a fully integrated hardware/software package without assuming any integration, inventorying or shipping responsibilities and related costs. Vendors reap the benefits of:
-- A plug-and-play product offering that eliminates the need for end
customers to install, configure and fine-tune software setup on
commercial hardware.
-- Optimized application performance achieved through MBX's ability to
customize hardware componentry to meet specific software operating
requirements.
-- MBX partnerships with Tier One suppliers like HP, Seagate and Intel,
ensuring the use of top brand-name OEM chassis and components.
-- Final assembly for end customers who need different hard drives, video
cards or other variations based on their own technology infrastructure.
-- Speed to market with simultaneous imaging of up to 400 units and
warehousing of base units for custom configuration as orders are
received.
-- Protection against component changes that can affect application
performance when using off-the-shelf servers because of compatibility
issues.
-- 'Solution in a box' packaging, with MBX sourcing, stocking and bundling
accessories such as cables and cameras in the shipping box to further
simplify installation.
-- Global logistics, warranty and support, including RMA repair programs
performed in the US, EU and APAC with expedited cross-shipping.
All of these features help minimize technical support costs associated with helping customers deploy standalone software. They also provide significant cost advantages over internally managed hardware programs through savings on engineering, prototyping, testing, assembly, component sourcing, warehouse space, returns management, economies of scale, and more.
"Delivering a complete hardware/software package that doesn't require integration and testing at the end customer site can be a strong competitive advantage, but trying to manage a hardware program in-house is complex, time-consuming and expensive," said Jeff Luckett, MBX Director of Engineering. "Application developers that use our services avoid unnecessary hardware-related overhead while also leveraging MBX's engineering expertise to ensure the best out-of-the-box experience for their customers."
MBX will be showcasing its expanded capabilities for digital security vendors at Booth #4258 at the ASIS International conference that opens September 29 in Atlanta. To learn more and request a hardware review specific to your needs, visit http://www.mbx.com/digital-security-box/

WD® Introduces Cold-Data-Storage HDDs Optimized For The Modern Datacenter
Progressive-Capacity, Energy-Efficient WD Ae Drives Enable Archive Tier of Storage Optimized for Web-scale, Cold-data Infrastructures
SAN FRANCISCO and IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Moscone Center (IDF Booth #363), WD(®), a Western Digital (NASDAQ: WDC) company and world leader in storage deployed for modern datacenters, today announced its innovative WD Ae(TM) line of hard drives designed for the unique operating characteristics of the emerging archive tier within web-scale datacenters. Built on a platform to achieve optimal total cost of ownership (TCO), WD Ae hard drives utilize the lowest possible power consumption and a Progressive Capacity(TM) model to enable a new tier of storage for large-scale cloud infrastructures.
"Modern datacenter customers came to us with a need for an HDD solution designed specifically for ever-expanding cold-data repositories," said Matt Rutledge, senior vice president and general manager, storage technology, WD. "Now in our third generation with over 700 petabytes deployed, WD is bringing the WD Ae drive to the broader market, representing another vital component of WD's capacity storage portfolio, which delivers features and product attributes optimized for the rapidly evolving storage market."
The expanding scale of data creation and the corresponding need to retain, preserve and extract value from that data creates a new and unique challenge for large-scale datacenter entities. Reliable, long-term data management for massive-scale data storage is becoming ever more critical. The conventional tools and technologies for cost-effective storage are not effective in massive-scale datacenters, so entirely new approaches to storage architectures and associated component technology are emerging.
"Cloud service providers have rapidly growing volumes of generally inactive data to store and manage, while at the same providing customers with access to the data at almost any time," according to John Rydning, IDC's vice president for hard disk drive research. "WD's new WD Ae line of HDDs is aimed directly at these storage use cases, and is helping to define a new, active archive enterprise storage sub-segment, thus opening new HDD storage opportunities for the HDD industry."
Focusing on the unique attributes of cold data, WD has led the cold/archive market with multiple generations of archive storage, actively evolving a product formula to deliver the optimal combination of cost-effectiveness, power efficiency, storage density and application intensity. WD Ae drives are purpose-built archive HDDs with extreme areal density on a high volume mechanical platform that offers increased power efficiency and a Progressive Capacity model.
Part of the unique attributes of the WD Ae hard drive family includes: a dense five-platter platform, which renders an optimal mix of power, performance, capacity and cost; capacities greater than 6 TB; SATA 6 Gb/s interface; and a workload and reliability rating of 60 TB/yr workload and 500 Khrs Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF).
WD Ae Progressive Capacity
As technology and manufacturing processes mature over time, incremental capacity increases are realized. WD's innovative Progressive Capacity model allows distribution of these incrementally higher capacity models to take advantage of their fullest available capacity: 6.1 TB, 6.2 TB, or 6.3 TB, for instance. These more granular capacity increments result in far greater capacity attainment through the life of a product platform. At the massive scale of modern applications, the availability of incremental capacity each quarter renders exceptional value to datacenters who can realize improvements in capacity-per-drive, capacity-per-volumetric space and reduced infrastructure overhead.
Hot vs. Cold Data Storage - the Data Storage Temperature Continuum
While approximately 20-30 percent of data on most networks is active, commonly referred to as "hot," the majority of data, 70-80 percent is inactive or "cold," meaning it is unchanging and infrequently accessed. Given the challenges of storing petabyte- or exabyte-scale data, public cloud and private cloud ecosystems are focused on creating entirely new tiers of storage to deal with the varying degrees of "data temperature." The cold data tier is emerging in a manner very similar to the way the "Tier 0" emerged over the past decade to deal with critical performance requirements. Now the industry is adding a new tier on the opposite end of the data temperature spectrum, often referred to as "Tier 3" storage.
Cold storage is the practice of creating a new tier of important information not frequently accessed for long periods of time, and can include structured, unstructured, or semi-structured data that has timeless value, and of which the exact schedule of retrieval is uncertain. As a result, data retrieval times can be relaxed, compared to the speed at which hot data needs be retrieved.
Ultimately, with purpose-built and cost-optimized cold data storage infrastructure and devices, IT departments can deliver vastly improved time-to-archive and time-to-retrieve cold/archive data that outstrips capabilities of monolithic tape libraries, while utilizing standard hard-drive based storage solutions that are abundantly used and understood to realize optimal application value and significant storage cost savings.
Availability
WD Ae hard drives will be sold in box quantities of 20 and available to select distributors and integrators starting late 2014. WD Ae drives are covered by a three-year limited warranty. More information about WD's Ae datacenter hard drives can be found on the company website at http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=1340. WD Ae hard drives will also be showcased in several key partner booths (Supermicro - booth # 700) at the Intel Developer's Forum (IDF) at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, Calif.

Bell Mobility Deploys First 4x4 MIMO in Canada with Ceragon's FibeAir IP-20C
PARAMUS, New Jersey, September 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Ceragon Networks Ltd. [http://www.ceragon.com ] (NASDAQ: CRNT), the #1 wireless
hauling specialist, today announced that together with Bell Mobility, the wireless
services division of Bell Canada, it has successfully deployed the first commercial 4x4
MIMO in Canada. Based on Ceragon's compact, multi-core FibeAir IP-20C solution, the live
link provides 1.6 Gbps of capacity over a single 40MHz channel. By selecting Ceragon's
advanced microwave solutions, Bell Mobility aims to more than double the capacity of their
wireless backhaul network.
Approximately 30% of all Bell Mobility cell sites are connected to the network via
microwave. The reason for this is that fiber is not always available or cost-effective,
especially in rural parts of the country. As new mobile technologies gain support and
popularity, there is a clear need for an increase in backhaul capacity over microwave.
The use of a single frequency channel to achieve ultra-high capacities is extremely
important for mobile operators as there is a finite amount of the spectrum available.
While competing solutions claim to achieve Gigabit bandwidth through the use of multiple
frequencies, it is not always possible for operators to license multiple frequencies where
and when the additional bandwidth is required.
"Bell Mobility is taking big steps toward preparing their network to haul LTE Advanced
and even 5G future services," said Ira Palti, president and CEO of Ceragon. "Our compact
FibeAir IP-20C solution is the only system today capable of delivering multi gigabit
capacities over a single licensed frequency channel. As such FibeAir IP-20C provides the
flexibility that mobile carriers need in order to meet diverse deployment scenarios in
both urban and rural settings."
About Bell Mobility
Bell Mobility is a division of Bell Canada (Bell). Bell offers consumer and business
customers across Canada blazing fast speeds, high quality coast-to-coast coverage and
global roaming to more than 200 countries on a full range of wireless voice and data
communications products.
Those services are delivered across the most extensive wireless networks in the
Canadian industry. Bell's 4G High-speed Packet Access (HSPA+) network is as good as any in
the world, with a footprint that covers 97% of the population. We continue to improve it
with HSPA+ Dual Cell technology which doubles the network's data transfer speed up to 42
Mbps. Dual cell is available to 70% of the HSPA+ footprint. An established leader of
Canadian wireless, Bell continues to innovate, most recently with the launch of an even
faster network - 4G LTE (Long-Term Evolution) - which will eventually support speeds
approaching 150 Mbps. Bell Mobility Inc. provides wireless communications services across
Canada under the Bell Mobility and Solo Mobile brands. Bell also owns 100% of Virgin
Mobile Canada and offers wireless services under the Virgin brand nationally. http://www.bce.ca/aboutbce/bellcanada/wireless
