Sony Electronics Announces Roll Out Of 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector
Laser Projector Offering an Entirely New In-Home Viewing Experience Marks Beginning of Sony's "Life Space UX" Vision
SAN DIEGO, Sept. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Electronics today announced that it will begin offering its sleek, state-of-the-art 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector to consumers within the New York City metropolitan area in late September. The introduction of the projector is the first step in realizing Sony's "Life Space UX" vision, a new user experience that enables people to enjoy entertainment content more freely, beyond preconceived ideas of living space.
"The 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector provides a completely new and innovative life space experience that only Sony can deliver," said Michael Fasulo, Sony Electronics President and COO. "We believe there is a healthy appetite in the luxury entertainment marketplace for state-of-the-art design and technological advancement, and we are excited to see how consumers respond to what we believe is a very special and transformative product."
Placed inches from an open wall, the projector's laser light source has the ability to cast a 4K Ultra High-Definition image up to 147-inches, creating a wall-sized canvas and transforming living spaces into evolving environments. Blank walls become high-definition "entertainment windows" -- cinema-like movie screens, gallery walls to display favorite art, or even virtual windows into far-away places -- offering uniquely immersive entertainment experiences. With the 147" image, your favorite movies and sports appear on a grand scale. And, the projector uses Laser Light Source to create an image with stunning brightness and color accuracy. The Laser Light Source reaches peak brightness quicker than conventional projector lamps, and lasts up to ten times longer.
The 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector's stylish, furniture-like design, featuring lavish use of aluminum, harmonizes with existing living spaces. The refined aluminum finish makes any living room look more luxurious. When it's off, the all-in-one design looks like an elegant piece of furniture. The speaker units eliminate exposed cables and the cabinet units accommodate other home electronics for neat storage.
Easy to install and operate, it's simply set next to an open wall and plugged in to begin experiencing large screen, 4K Ultra HD images. Consumers can enjoy current video content services from IP, satellite or cable providers as well as 4K content sources, including Video Unlimited 4K, Netflix and 4K content shot on Sony's expanding range of 4K Handycam® camcorders.
The 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector will retail for $50,000 and can be ordered by calling Sony Electronics at 866-294-7669 or online here. Coverage is initially available throughout most of the New York metropolitan area and will be gradually expanded to other areas. Legendary Audio Brand Technics Returns With A Mission To Help Listeners 'Rediscover Music'
Reference-Class R1 Series and Premium-Class C700 Series Expected to Arrive in US in 2015
NEWARK, N.J., Sept. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Panasonic today announced the return of the iconic 'Technics' audio brand at the 2014 IFA Consumer Electronics Unlimited Show in Berlin, Germany. The first new Technics Hi-fi products in six years will debut in Europe in December expanding to other regions across the globe, including the US market, in 2015.
The announcement was made by Michiko Ogawa, director of the Technics project. Ogawa, a former Technics audio engineer herself and also a popular, well known jazz pianist in Japan, explained that the new products are based on a concept called the 'Technics Definitive Sound' which builds upon decades of audio technology development and knowhow. The concept is comprised of three major technical elements:
'Accurate Digital Technology': which ensures signal transmission with precise phase and gain characteristics, and ideal power conversion,
'Noiseless Signal Technology': which thoroughly reduces noise to realize equipment ideal for digital audio,
'Emotive Acoustic Technology': which realizes a clear sound image and spacious soundstage with an ultra-wide bandwidth and high dynamic range.
Furthermore, according to Ogawa, the most important mission of the new Technics is to deliver emotionally-engaging musical experiences which are unique to each of us.
"We grow up repeatedly discovering and being moved by new types of music. However as we get older we get distracted by all the things going on in our lives and perhaps misplace the pure love of music. Through the new Technics products we are striving to offer listeners the feeling of 'rediscovering music', by helping them to have such uniquely emotionally-engaging experiences - ones that we seem to have lost", said Ogawa explaining the meaning behind the new slogan of 'Rediscover Music'.
Two New Hi-Fi Audio System Series
Technics will initially launch two series of products: the R1 reference-class system, and the premium-class C700 system.
The Reference-Class R1 Series consists of three hi-fi audio components designed to deliver superlative musical experiences.

-- Network Audio Control Player SU-R1
-- Speaker System SB-R1
The Premium-Class C700 Series consists of four hi-fi components designed to deliver emotionally-engaging music with a refined style with no compromise in sound quality by adopting the essence of the technologies employed in the R1 Reference-Class.

Brazil's Digital Payments Giant Now Offers Full-Coverage Local Payment - Options for Online Games in Mexico
SÃO PAULO, September 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
UOL BoaCompra [http://www.boacompra.com/shop ], the leader in emerging markets and
digital goods payments throughout Latin America, today announced its launch into Mexico,
considered one the forerunners in the emerging market games space. The company now offers
10 new additional local payment methods including the company's own currency, BoaCompra
GOLD, enabling international game companies to access a rapidly growing online population
in Mexico.
Valued at more than $1.2 Billion USD, the Mexican video game market is now the most
important component of the entertainment industry, with sales greater than movies and
music combined. Additionally, Mexico's internet penetration rate has grown to 45 percent
of the total population; demonstrating remarkable improvement and room for further growth
in e-commerce. However, a staggering 87 percent of those online do not have access to
international credit cards to make purchases online, as Mexico is still a cash-based
market.
"Mexico is a fascinating market right now. With a 30 percent growth rate on average
and the highest consumption per capita in Latin America, it is largely untapped and not
targeted by the giants of the game industry," said Fernando Estevez Vazquez, former PayPal
employee and Head of International Payments & Strategy at UOL BoaCompra.
UOL BoaCompra's portfolio of localized payment options, including the most widely used
cash-based methods such as Todito Cash and OXXO, will allow gamers to use their preferred
payment method with the greatest accessibility and ease.
"The vast potential of Mexico's current video game market provides compelling evidence
for bringing foreign games to Mexico. This is a great opportunity for our partners to
leverage our local expertise and start investing in this huge market, and for gamers in
Mexico to finally be able to make purchases using the local payment methods available in
their country," said Marden Silveira Neubert, Executive Director at UOL BoaCompra.
UOL BoaCompra currently works with more than 170 game developers and publishers to
monetize their games throughout emerging markets in Latin America, southern Europe and
Turkey. The company's latest full-service payments launch into Mexico comes off the heels
of the company's expansion into Colombia and Peru - part of a greater development to
provide the first Latin American e-wallet for gamers, and a complete solution for game
developers and publishers looking to bring their titles to the region.
ABOUT UOL BOACOMPRA
Founded in 2004, UOL BoaCompra specializes in monetizing online games while offering

views per month and the company offers its own currency in more than 120,000 POS across
LATAM. Several of the largest gaming companies including Valve, EA, Ubisoft, Axeso5,

emerging markets. For more information, please visit http://www.boacompra.com and keep

Tintag Takes on Tile & TrackR Bravo with the First Rechargeable Item Tracker
CLUJ-NAPOCA, Romania, Sept. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- For all of us busy-minded people that sometimes (several times... a day) lose sight of our important stuff, here's the newest, technology-improved gadget for lost items: Tintag. The best thing about it? You simply recharge it with its Home Base companion and it's ready to go for another 4 months. No need to replace its batteries or buy new devices when batteries run out, like other tracking devices (Tile or TrackR bravo) oblige.
The basic story is somehow the same: Tintag helps you locate at all times any object you've lost, big or small, near or far. The app on your phone allows you to easily determine the whereabouts of any items that have a Tintag attached, it works on iPhone AND Android phones.
BUT beyond the basic story, Tintag solves a few important problems that the others have missed, at least until now.
The first rechargeable item tracking device
Battery use was until now perhaps the biggest complaint of item trackers users. Tile makes you buy another device, TrackR bravo or Duet makes you replace batteries.
"Making it work was quite a technical challenge since there were several parts we had to build ourselves from scratch. But we made it and Tintag never leaves you dry. It recharges wirelessly and after 6 hours it's ready to go for up to 4 months," says Andrei Vig, Tintag's Co-Founder.
How do I find my stuff?
Unlike other tracking devices, Tintag offers two ways to locate your items: with the beep of the buzzer or quietly with a flicker of lights. Just check the app on you phone and activate one or another. Neither rings a bell? Check on your phone the history of locations where your item was last seen and you can easily remember where you've left it.
One can connect the same Tintag to multiple phones
If for instance, both you and your spouse want to simultaneously locate your kid or your dog you would have a hard time using traditional item trackers that won't be able to connect to more than one phone. Meanwhile, one can connect the same Tintag to multiple phones even if we're talking connecting the same tracker to an iPhone and an Android phone.
Item out of sight? Find it through a network of hotspots and Lost & Found Community.
The Home Base charger can also work as a hotspot that scans 24x7 for Tintag devices, so with the help of the network of hotspots you can track down your lost items even from afar. And when someone finds your lost item and enters your Tintag's unique id on found.tint.ag, a notification will be immediately sent to you, with the location of your item.
Since the backers of earlier campaigned item trackers had to wait even 12 months to get their hands on their devices, Tintag's plan is to ship the first 500 functional prototypes as soon as November 2014. "Although we're talking prototypes and not the fully functional product (that will come in April 2015) our users will quickly get a taste of Tintag," says Alex Chis, Co-Founder.
Aggressive promotional offers
To strengthen their competitive edge its Co-Founders will price one Tintag plus its home base charger at $19 during the crowdfunding campaign about to start on the 8th of September. People who sign up to their email list until then will receive an extra Tintag for free during the campaign.

VIZIO's 2014 E-Series Full-Array LED Smart TV collection, recipient of an "Excellent" rating from CNET(3), is ideal for consumers looking for the latest technology, great picture quality and popular features like Smart TV connectivity and streaming apps. Unlike most competitive models in its class, the VIZIO E-Series includes Full-Array LED backlighting and advanced local dimming technology, with up to 18 Active LED Zones, delivering better light uniformity for a more vibrant, beautiful picture. Technology like Active LED Zones represents a significant step forward in picture quality for consumers. Pure black levels with higher contrast are created by dynamic adjustment of the LED backlight in each Active LED Zone, based on the content displayed on the screen. More zones mean more discrete control of the LED backlight resulting in improved contrast and more impressive picture quality.
For consumers interested in a step up to cutting-edge picture quality, VIZIO's 2014 M-Series Full-Array LED Smart TV collection, which recently received the coveted "Top Pick" rating from Sound & Vision(4) and a "Highly Recommended" rating from HDTV Solutions(4), is the answer. Using advanced Full-Array LED backlighting technology, the 2014 VIZIO M-Series models provide premium picture performance. With up to 36 Active LED Zones, consumers can enjoy additional zones of local dimming for more balanced distribution of backlighting across the entire screen, enhancing deep, accurate black levels and brighter, more vivid details. In addition, Active Pixel Tuning delivers intelligent pixel level luminance adjustments to further increase contrast and picture detail accuracy. The M-Series line-up features a two-sided smart remote with backlit QWERTY keyboard, further enhancing the VIZIO Smart TV experience with simple, one-touch access to favorite apps and entertainment.
All VIZIO Smart TVs launching into Canada feature the VIZIO Internet Apps Plus® platform, bringing apps such as Netflix, YouTube, Yahoo! News, Flickr, Crackle and more, right into the consumer's living room, bedroom or den. An app dock overlays the bottom of the screen giving consumers quick, at-a-glance access to seven of their favorite apps, without interrupting on-screen content. With the selected app in center focus of the display, users can easily view the previous three and next three apps in the carousel for faster navigation.
VIZIO's audio solutions serve as the perfect complement for today's slim HDTVs and bring superior surround sound and new convenience features to any room in the house. From the VIZIO 54" 5.1 Home Theater Sound Bar System with Wireless Subwoofer designed for consumers with HDTVs 55" and larger, to the VIZIO 2.1 Sound Stand which offers room-filling audio in a compact form factor, VIZIO brings a variety of options to consumers looking to upgrade their audio experience or create a personal home theater. In addition to its television and audio products, VIZIO's North America-based customer support has also expanded service to the Canadian market, offering the same level of quality and responsiveness American consumers have come to appreciate.

Microsemi Strengthens its Timing Products Leadership with New Any-to-any Frequency Clock Multiplier and Jitter Attenuator Clock Management Products
Delivering Industry-leading 250fs Jitter in an Ultra-small 5x5 mm Footprint, Devices are Ideal for a Variety of Communications Applications
ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Sept. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --Microsemi Corporation (Nasdaq: MSCC), a leading provider of semiconductor solutions differentiated by power, security, reliability and performance, today announced its new ZL30252 and ZL30253 any-to-any frequency clock multiplier and jitter attenuator integrated circuits (ICs). With best-in-class jitter performance as a clock multiplier (160fs in the 12kHz-20MHz band) and as a jitter attenuator (250fs in the 12kHz-20MHz band) all in an ultra-small 5x5 mm package, these devices target new applications with tough jitter budgets and tight board real estate restrictions.
The new devices provide communication equipment customers with a timing solution that meets industry-leading jitter performance imposed by new 100Gbps PHY devices. According to market research firm Databeans, the clock generation IC market will grow to approximately $1 billion in 2017 from $700 million in 2013.
"Microsemi's new any-to-any frequency clock multiplier and jitter attenuator products complement our comprehensive timing and synchronization solutions, as well as many of our other leading-edge products that are designed for the growing communications market," said Roger Holliday, senior vice president and general manager, Microsemi's communications group. "We are expanding our overall timing product portfolio and system solutions to address many new and leading-edge applications in the growing clock generation IC market."
The ZL30252 and ZL30253 devices also reduce the overall bill of materials (BOM) cost and simplify design with precise frequency conversion from any input frequency 1kHz to 1.25GHz to any output frequency 1Hz to 1.035GHz and jitter attenuation bandwidths from 14Hz to 500Hz. When combined with Microsemi's ZL402xx series fan-out buffers, the new ZL30252 and ZL30253 provide complete timing solutions for complex systems such as wireless base stations, wireless backhaul, wired infrastructure, SONET/ SDH, GE, 10G/40G/100G Ethernet, optical, storage and broadcast video applications.
"The drive by developers for universal physical layer interfaces employing pluggable optics created the need for flexible clock multipliers such as the ZL30252 and ZL30253," said Maamoun Seido, vice president and business unit manager of Microsemi's timing products. "Furthermore, new physical layer SERDES and mappers are driving the need for the superior jitter performance provided by the ZL30252 and ZL30253 to support the higher data rates."
About the ZL30252 and ZL30253
The ZL30252 and ZL30253 have highly configurable output clocks and offer automatic self-configuration at power-up. This supports up to four different configurations easily selected using two device pins. Key features include:
-- Any-to-any frequency conversion with 0 ppm error (inputs: 1kHz-1.25GHz,
outputs: 1Hz-1GHz)
-- Digital PLL with programmable bandwidth from 14Hz to 500Hz
-- Input clock monitoring and automatic or manual input switching
-- Three universal clock inputs connect to any signal format at any voltage
and up to three differential outputs or six CMOS outputs
-- Operate as numerically controlled oscillator (NCO)
-- Configurable output signal format and voltage for direct interface
without additional components
The ZL30252 and ZL30253 offers NCO mode in which output frequencies can be controlled with very high resolution by system software. This capability allows the devices to replace solutions using large, expensive, fixed-frequency voltage-controlled oscillators (VCXOs) with a small, low-cost and any output clock solution.
The ZL30252 and ZL30253 are also flexible building-blocks that system designers can use in various parts of their design. For example, they can be used as a master clock jitter attenuator and multiplier for other Microsemi timing ICs. This allows customers to reuse previously-qualified TCXOs or OCXOs regardless of frequency or jitter. When deployed on a line card, the ZL30252 or ZL30253 simplify system design and reduce the cost of backplane connectors by accepting low frequency clocks from the backplane and performing rate conversion and jitter attenuation on the line card.
Microsemi's Complementary Products
Microsemi's high performance clock buffers complements the latest any-to-any frequency clock multiplier and jitter attenuator devices by providing additional fan-out capability and the industry's best-in-class power supply noise rejection performance. This preserves signal integrity by adding ultra-low jitter and filtering noise from power supplies, resulting in better performance while simplifying engineering board design efforts. The family of buffers supports clock rates of up to 750MHz. It has a flexible I/O structure, inputs are compatible with LVPECL, LVDS, CML, HCSL, LVCMOS, HSTL and SSTL and outputs support LVPECL and LVDS signals.

New Fluke 830 Laser Shaft Alignment Tool shortens motor shaft evaluation and correction to three simple steps
Precision shaft alignment is an essential part of any comprehensive maintenance program
EVERETT, Wash., Sept. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Shaft misalignment in rotating machinery has the potential to cost companies thousands of dollars a year in replacement bearing cost, repairs, extra power consumption, and unplanned downtime. In three simple steps, the Fluke(®) 830 Laser Shaft Alignment Tool delivers precise shaft condition measurements and actionable results that, along with vibration testing, infrared thermography, and other predictive maintenance measurements, enable plant maintenance teams to increase machine life and keep plants running at maximum efficiency.
Shaft misalignments as small 0.06 mm can cause failures of seals, couplings, and bearings as well as increase motor vibration and heat. Traditional alignment methods, like straightedges/feeler gauges, are too imprecise to measure small yet significant shaft offsets. Dial indicators provide higher resolution, but are complex, time consuming, and require highly skilled technicians.
In three simple steps, the single laser measurement technology of the rugged Fluke 830 delivers a high level of precision and repeatability in evaluating shaft alignment:
1. Setup - determines a machine's dimensions;
2. Measure Â- actively takes readings from three sectors as the laser is rotated around a shaft;
3. Diagnose - provides actual correction numbers along with a four-level, color-coded severity scale indicating whether the machine is in or out of alignment tolerances.
The intuitive guided user interface of the 830 provides easy to understand results that do not require extensive alignment knowledge. Its all-in-one results screen shows both coupling results and feet corrections (vertical and horizontal) in real terms making it easy for maintenance technicians to take corrective action.
Fluke offers a complete line of predictive maintenance tools designed to help keep plants up and running, including vibration testers to diagnose fault and severity, and infrared cameras to evaluate machine health. Fluke predictive maintenance tools deliver the measurements needed to reduce unplanned downtime and decrease repair costs.

Over more than three decades, Japanese video games have featured some of the most recognizable melodies in the world of global pop culture. Yet most of the people who created these timeless tunes have remained faceless for the longest time. Now a new documentary series released by the Red Bull Music Academy tells the story of the men and women behind Japan's greatest musical export. Over six episodes, Diggin' In The Carts explores the history of Japanese video game music from the 8-bit era until today.
"We want to show that these Japanese men and women had an incredible influence on the global culture and on some of the biggest names in modern music," says Nick Dwyer, the creator of the series.
Examining a new chapter in the evolution of video game music with each episode, the series features exclusive interviews with some of the greatest composers of the genre, including Hirokazu "Hip" Tanaka, who created the music to classic games like Tetris and Metroid,Yuzo Koshiro who was inspired by the Tokyo nightlife of the early '90s when he wrote the soundtrack to Streets of Rage, and Nobuo Uematsu whose scores for the Final Fantasy series have been performed by some of the world's leading orchestras.
To stress the global impact of their work, the interviews with the Japanese composers are juxtaposed with personal statements from some of today's luminaries like Flying Lotus, Dizzee Rascal, Just Blaze, Joker, Fatima Al Qadiri, Kode9, Havoc, J-Rocc and Ikonika, who point out how their own approach to making music has been heavily influenced by video game music.
The series will be launched in advance of the Red Bull Music Academy in Tokyo. From October 12 through November 14, the world-travelling music lab and festival will host five weeks worth of workshops, concerts, club nights, and all-round musical extravaganzas all across the city. Tornado Twins Turn Bible into a Video Game: 'The Game Bible Series'
Kickstarter campaign to help develop best-selling book of all-time into epic entertainment
LAKE FOREST, Calif., Sept. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- With a goal of turning the stories of the Bible into a video game for all ages to enjoy, Ruben and Efraim Meulenberg, internet phenomenon and identical twins known as the "Tornado Twins," have launched a Kickstarter, http://www.TheGameBible.com, to raise funds to develop several episodes about David, including the story of David and Goliath.
"The Game Bible Series" will be an epic 52-episode video game series to be released on multiple platforms and set to cover the entire Bible from Adam to Jesus, allowing the gamer to experience the entire biblical narrative in a side-scroller format.
The Meulenberg brothers have set a goal of $35,000 on Kickstarter, a crowd-funding social media site, to fund the first three episodes of the story of David. The first 10 episodes entitled "David, Rise of a King" will be fully funded at $380,000. Each level of giving will allow a different level of access to "The Game Bible Series" before it is available to the general public.
"The stories of the Bible have everything needed to make an epic game - adventure, deceitful and courageous characters, miracles, giants, armies, war and the list goes on," said Efraim Meulenberg, lead developer.
"The Game Bible Series" will be a family-friendly game, specifically geared toward families with children ages 6-18. In the fashion of the Mario Brothers and Rayman games, "The Game Bible Series" will be void of gore or over-the-top violence, and fun and enjoyable for all ages.
"To ensure a high level of gameplay, several experts who have been involved in the making of 'Assassins' Creed' PSP, 'Stargate' PSP and the Lego games have weighed in on this project," said Ruben Meulenberg, lead writer.
The Meulenberg brothers are versed media artists, programmers, consultants and the creators of FPS Control. As experienced professionals in the media industry, their training materials have trained over 20,000 musicians and 40,000 game and app developers globally, including Disney Mobile.

The Fluke 500 Series is ideal for testing mission critical battery back-up applications in data centers, hospitals, airports, utilities, oil and gas, and railways.

ISF Launch a New Generation of Electric Curtain Tracks, Poles and Motorised Blinds
LONDON, September 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Superior in every respect, ISF's Forest Shuttle system outperforms leading brands by
miles and yet is at least a third cheaper. Made in Holland to strict European engineering
standards, you simply click the remote control to make these 24v DC motors silently draw
curtains of up to 90kg as far as 14 metres effortlessly. And the motors carry a 10 year
warranty - double that of other makes.
This system displaces the notion that electric curtain tracks are prohibitively
expensive and complicated. Just think! No electrician is required to fit our 24V system so
it comes with a lower cost installation at a time to suit you best.
Greg Kostin, ISF's Managing Director, said today: "Get to know Forest Shuttle tracks
and you'll fall in love with their simplicity, reliability, silent running and
connectivity, with every type of building automation and even commands from an app on your
smartphone.
"Setting the stop limits is as easy as pie. Then, if sometime later you can't find the
remote control, you can just tug at the fabric to start the motor and draw the curtains
open or closed. Guests will be gently surprised by this feature! And at least they can't
damage the system: curtains can be drawn by hand even if the power is off."
The beauty of the Forest Shuttle system is that it consists of just one slim belted
track with a choice of 3 interchangeable motors for light, medium and really heavy loads.
It can be operated by remote control, by wire, from a smartphone or through a home
automation circuit.
As if that's not enough, the same system is also available from us embedded into the
only 28mm motorised metal curtain pole range. Really sleek!
And there's more! The latest Wow factor comes with our large motorised curtain poles -
51mm, 63mm and 76mm in diameter and available as modern metal poles, natural wood, painted
wood poles or bright brass - all motorised and with a fantastic range of finials.
Currently ISF are sending introductory data sheets to interior designers, architects
and construction companies to raise awareness. Anyone interested should apply for a free
85-page technical catalogue or invite us for a live demonstration of this great new
product range.
