NEWARK, N.J., Sept. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company today announced the introduction of the new Panasonic RP-HGS10 Open Ear Headphones which are ideal for active users who want to listen to music while still being aware of what is going on around them. The RP-HGS10 Headphones are now available on http://www.shop.panasonic.com.
The Panasonic RP-HGS10 Open Ear Headphones sit directly in front of a user's ear to provide sound transmission via advanced bone conduction technology, where vibrations move through the bone directly into the auditory nerve, producing clear sound without blocking the ear canal. The simple, streamlined design of the RP-HGS10 Open Ear Headphones is lightweight, allowing them to comfortably sit outside a user's ear and wrap around the backside of the head to securely stay in place. They have also been designed with soft cushioning material to absorb vertical vibration above the ear while a user is running or jogging and, a sweat and water-resistant design make the headphones perfect for workouts. The RP-HGS10 Open Ear Headphones are available in a variety of color options including green/black, purple/pink and white/black, each featuring a colored refection sheet for additional safety for nighttime outdoor use.
The RP-HGS10 Open Ear Headphones join Panasonic's line of Adventure-style headphone models, including the recently introduced RP-BTGS10 Wireless Open Ear Headphones and the RP-HS34 ear-bud style Sport Clip Headphones. Sports Fans Power Up Tailgate Experience with Briggs & Stratton PowerSmart Series P3000 Inverter Generator
Lightweight portable generator provides tailgaters with quiet power for ultimate fan experience
MILWAUKEE, Aug. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- For many sports fans, it's "that" time of the year. College and professional football season equate to prime time tailgating season. Fans seem to be tailgating more than ever as Tailgater Magazine estimates that 50 million people tailgate annually in North America.
Each year, tailgaters seem to try to compete for the biggest and best tailgates. Besides radios, blenders, and hot plates, it's not uncommon to find big screen TVs, gaming systems, stereos, and of course, cell phone chargers at a typical tailgate this fall. All of this electronic equipment requires portable power to keep it running. Briggs & Stratton's PowerSmart Series((TM)) P3000 inverter generator takes tailgating to a whole new level for sports fans that require a quiet, lightweight, and fuel efficient portable generator to power all of their big game tailgating essentials.
"This fall sports fans can transform their part of the parking lot into a tailgating haven with the quiet, affordable power provided by the new Briggs & Stratton PowerSmart Series P3000 inverter," said Eric Loferski, director of marketing for Briggs & Stratton Portable Power & Cleaning Systems. "Along with its ability to provide super quiet power, the P3000 inverter is also lightweight, easy to transport and maneuver, has great run time and offers more power than the common 2000 watt generator."
The PowerSmart Series P3000 inverter generator delivers consistent power to run everything from the most basic tailgate essentials to higher-wattage items including*:
-- Crock-pots (240 watts) and hot plates (1200 watts)
-- Food processors (500 watts), small refrigerators (550 watts) and
microwaves (1000 watts)
-- Blenders (1200 watts) and coffee makers (1300 watts)
-- Big-screen and projector televisions (200-1000 watts), CD/DVD players
(100 watts) and radios (10 watts)
-- Electric griddles (1500 watts) or an 8-inch electric stove (2100 watts)
-- Light bulbs (60-75 watts/each) and outdoor light strings (250 watts)
-- X-Box, Game-Cube or Playstation (40 watts)
-- Cell phone, iPhone, iPod and iPhone battery chargers (5-25 watts)
For tailgaters who need even more power, the P3000 is the first and only inverter unit from Briggs & Stratton (NYSE:BGG) to offer parallel capabilities, enabling tailgaters to connect two P3000 units together for nearly double the power, yet still operating at very quiet levels. With the P3000, RV enthusiasts can also power most RV's HVAC units, while simultaneously keeping the lights on, charging cell phones, or using some smaller portable appliances.
The P3000 is also the first in its class to offer the combination of a USB charging port, perfect for charging cell phones, which frees up an outlet to power additional items. The StatStation LCD display provides information on how many watts are currently being used and provides maintenance reminders. The unit's luggage-style, lift-assist transportation system allows for easy maneuverability by one person with its telescoping handle and a twin-handle for two-person lifting.
The P3000 is the newest addition to the PowerSmart Series, joining the P2000, a 2 kW inverter generator, which launched in 2010. The Briggs & Stratton PowerSmart P3000 Inverter is the next generation of quiet, affordable power. To learn more, visit http://www.briggsandstratton.com.

Imagine Communications Introduces Magellan SDN Orchestrator for Managing Hybrid Baseband and IP Facilities
Provides crucial software control layer for transparent hybrid network operations and managed migration to IP
DALLAS, Aug. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Imagine Communications, a market leader of media software and video infrastructure solutions serving the global broadcast, multichannel video programming distributor and enterprise markets, today introduced the Magellan(TM) SDN Orchestrator, a software control system for managing hybrid baseband and IP facilities. An anchor component of Imagine Communications' Software-Defined Networking (SDN) portfolio, the Magellan SDN Orchestrator enables seamless integration of baseband and IP networks, protecting customers' existing technology investments while providing a clear path to an open, interoperable and IP-based future.
"Our announcement today is a major milestone for media companies, signaling that we have overcome one of their most critical challenges," said Charlie Vogt, CEO of Imagine Communications. "The decision to build a baseband or all-IP facility is no longer a difficult one since the Magellan SDN Orchestrator enables operational transparency between legacy and IP networks. This is the assurance that media companies need to move forward with their IP investment strategies, continuing to operate with today's staff and workflow processes -- yet migrating to IP at their own pace without disruption."
The Magellan SDN Orchestrator is one more example of Imagine Communications' focus on cutting edge innovation, taking full advantage of the flexibility, scalability and efficiency that next-generation IP-based architectures can offer while dramatically improving the way video is managed through broadcast facilities. It utilizes dynamic signal-flow connections, managing signal mappings, addressing, and translations between legacy protocols and IP. Due to this tight alignment across protocols and signals, the Magellan SDN Orchestrator understands the available resources, whether legacy or IP, and turns the "sea of equipment" into a set of defined, managed workflows that support the concurrent coexistence of IP streams, files, and baseband signals.
Media companies can now maximize their investments in high-quality video processing done in baseband/SDI/ASI technologies using familiar controls, while also managing on-ramps and off-ramps for baseband over IP via the software control layer. The Magellan SDN Orchestrator instantiates pre-defined workflows through commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) IP switches, providing professional broadcast performance for all connections. By leveraging the continued evolution of data center-grade COTS switching technology, the Magellan SDN Orchestrator enables media companies to use the latest generations of IP switches to ride the ever-improving cost/performance curve of the IT industry.
"Our unique, hybrid approach to SDN allows the entire bit flow to be software-defined, which significantly improves the way video is managed throughout broadcast facilities," said Steve Copeland, Director of Product Management for Imagine Communications. "Regardless of what equipment is underneath, the Magellan SDN Orchestrator provides an overarching management layer that makes everything look like a 'simple router.' It integrates the elements into one system with commonly used controls, and provides the necessary transparency and visibility required for our customers who need to support hybrid operations."
To find out more about the Magellan SDN Orchestrator, visit http://www.imaginecommunications.com, and come see Imagine Communications at IBC2014 in Amsterdam at Stand 7.G20.

Imagine Communications Unveils Industry's First Integrated "Playout in the Cloud" Solution, VersioCloud, at IBC2014
Cloud-based playout platform defines next paradigm for broadcast operations
DALLAS, Aug. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Imagine Communications, a market leader of media software and video infrastructure solutions serving the global broadcast, multichannel video programming distributor and enterprise markets, today introduced VersioCloud(TM), the industry's first IP-enabled, integrated cloud playout platform, at IBC2014. This pioneering solution allows media companies to manage video operations and channel playout from the cloud, enabling them to accelerate new channel launches and extend their brands and content with more freedom, visibility, and control than ever before.
"Today's video consumer has an increasing array of alternatives from linear TV and Over-the-Top sources, pressuring media companies to take aggressive action to maintain market share and keep viewers engaged with their content," said Charlie Vogt, CEO of Imagine Communications. "VersioCloud's disruptive new technology is the ultimate competitive advantage because it simplifies the creation and management of channels, advancing the monetization of content into new demographic or geographic markets. While other offerings are burdened by hardware CODECs or GPUs, VersioCloud is the industry's only solution that is 100% software running on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) IT platforms."
With VersioCloud, all of the traditional integrated channel playout functions are now cloud-enabled, including branding, graphics, automation, and server capabilities. Also available as part of the cloud playout solution, Imagine Communications' newly announced Magellan(TM) SDN Orchestrator software control system and Selenio(TM) processing and compression solutions allow the transparent management of hybrid SDI, ASI, and IP content, providing a seamless on-ramp and off-ramp between IP and legacy baseband transport to advance the transition to IP.
Playout in the Cloud, enabled by VersioCloud, profoundly improves the interactions between content providers, distributors and networks, affiliates, and video consumers by redefining the technology required to originate, store, deliver and monetize video content. The combination of cloud-based playout and hybrid transport enhances all parts of the broadcast business including improved visibility to optimize advertising playout, efficient methods of disaster recovery, fast channel creation to accommodate seasonal or one-time events, the expansion of brands and content into new markets and new geographies without requiring expensive brick-and-mortar facilities, and a pay-as-you-go Platform as a Service (PaaS) model to greatly lower the cost and time barrier to traditional methods of establishing linear and OTT channels. By integrating VersioCloud with Imagine Communications' Zenium(TM) workflow manager, media companies can easily design Playout in the Cloud workflows to suit their particular needs.
"Versio is an established leader in software-centric integrated channel playout, and VersioCloud represents the collective future of broadcasting because it unshackles media companies from the bonds of hardware-centric networks," Tim Mendoza, VP of Product Development for Imagine Communications. "This industry-first solution is evidence of our significant focus on best-in-class innovations using the latest IP-enabled, cloud and software-defined frameworks to drive the industry into a new era of unprecedented flexibility, scalability and control."

Toshiba Debuts Photovoltaic Couplers in Small-Size SO6 Packages
New Applications Addressed with Increased Operating Temperature Ranges and Isolation Voltages
IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC)*, a committed leader that collaborates with technology companies to create breakthrough designs, today announced the launch of two new photovoltaic couplers housed in small-size SO6 packages: the TLP3905 and TLP3906. The new photocouplers are designed for use in measuring instruments or as MOSFET gate drivers for the replacement of mechanical relays.
Photovoltaic couplers can be used to create a MOSFET gate driver without using an external secondary-side power supply. The structure of a photovoltaic coupler is a photorelay without a MOSFET chip. Users can create an isolated relay by combining the photovoltaic coupler with an external MOSFET of their choice. This combination makes it possible to realize larger voltages and currents for solutions that are not covered under the existing photorelay line-up. The new photocouplers consist of an infrared light emitting diode optically coupled to a photodiode array. The photodiodes are connected in series, making the TLP3905 and TLP3906 suitable for MOS gate drive applications.
While maintaining the fundamental performance of Toshiba's existing photovoltaic couplers (TLP190B and TLP191B), the TLP3905 and TLP3906 expand application possibilities by increasing the maximum operating temperature to 125°C (max) and increasing the isolation voltage by 50 percent to 3750Vrms (min).
The TLP3906 integrates a control circuit for releasing the MOSFET gate charge, providing a turn-off speed of 0.3ms - approximately one third of TLP3905. TLP3906 also offers a minimum LED trigger current IFT (max) of 3mA to provide low power dissipation of LED current.
Features:
-- Open voltage: 7 V (min)
-- Short current: 12 A (min)
-- Isolation voltage: 3750 Vrms (min)
-- Safety standards: UL (approved), cUL (approved)
Pricing and Availability
Toshiba's new photovoltaic couplers are available now. Budgetary pricing is $0.78 for the TLP3905 in sample size volume and $0.82 for the TLP3906 in sample size volume. Please contact your local Toshiba Sales Office for samples.

TI's focus on optimizing its MSP430FR69x MCUs for ultra-low-power and high integration yields MCUs with the lowest active, standby and peripheral power in the industry. Unbeatable write speeds of MSP430FR69x FRAM MCUs and 10 billion times more write-erase cycles than flash solutions results in memory that can reduce power, increase data accuracy over time, and even extend product lifetime. FRAM offers unmatched memory flexibility, does not require pre-erasure of segments and can be accessed at the bit-level, enabling constant on-the-fly data logging and faster, simpler wireless firmware updates.
Leveraging MSP430FR69x FRAM MCUs for the smart grid
The integrated ESI module, differential ADC and LCD controller make MSP430FR69x MCUs ideal for smart flow metering designs for water, gas and heat. Adding TI's complementary SimpleLink(TM) Sub-1 GHz CC1120 transceiver, SimpleLink Wi-Fi CC3100 wireless network processor or Wireless M-Bus connectivity solutions can easily connect a new MSP430FR69x-based flow meter design to the grid. Power-conscious developers can also include TI's TPS61220 boost converter to optimize battery-powered systems. TI's new FlowESI GUI eases sensor setup in software and EnergyTrace++(TM) technology enables developers to debug power consumption at a function- and peripheral-level like never before. These resources help developers optimize their metering designs and speed time-to-market. Get flow metering designs started quicker with three comprehensive TI Designs based on MSP430FR69x MCUs that leverage the integrated extended scan interface module. These complete reference designs for water meters using inductive-capacitive (LC), giant magneto-resistive (GMR) or optical sensors include complete block diagrams, user guides, bill of materials (BOM), design files and test reports.
Features and benefits of TI's ultra-low-power MSP430FR69x MCUs:
-- Ease development with pin-to-pin compatibility and a scalable portfolio
from 64 KB to 128 KB FRAM and more features within TI's FRAM MCU
platform.
-- Experience the security advantages, including a 256-bit AES accelerator
and an IP encapsulation module to protect data transmissions and IP, on

The Original Inventor of the "Smartwatch" Celebrates Timepiece Milestones in 2014
DOVER, N.J., Aug. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The wearable technology industry is here to stay with smartwatches and fitness trackers migrating from geek to chic. In the midst of this market shift, one company has remained focused on its mission to deliver innovative and stylish timepieces that provide smart functionality. With a product portfolio consisting of more than 4 models of Bluetooth-enabled timepieces, Casio America Inc. provides consumers with the most options in smartwatch technology. Consistently at the forefront of the timepiece industry, this year Casio will also celebrate anniversaries for three of the company's flagship timepiece models.
Category leadership and elevating the timepiece industry to new standards is not new for Casio. This year, Casio is celebrating the 40(th) anniversary of the Casiotron, the world's first wristwatch with an automatic calendar function. The Casiotron's introduction helped modernize the wristwatch industry during a time when timepieces were undergoing a revolution from mechanical to quartz mechanisms. The company recognized an opportunity to leverage its calculator expertise and apply it to the new quartz digital chronometers, which resulted in a watch that not only showed the hours, minutes, and seconds on a liquid crystal display, but also had a unique function that could automatically determine the number of days in a month, thus raising the bar and setting a new industry standard.
This year is also the 30(th) anniversary of the CD-40/401, a databank phone number storage wristwatch and the 25(th) anniversary of the BM-100WJ, a digital watch with a sensor for forecasting weather trends.
Casio continued its category leadership into the new millennium and since 2011, the company has provided consumers with Bluetooth-enabled timepieces that sync to a smartphone to get email/call alerts, control music, and set alarms. In 2014 alone, Casio has announced 4 new Bluetooth-enabled timepieces across its core and G-SHOCK lines. This includes the new CasioOmniSync STB-1000, a Bluetooth-enabled timepiece that syncs with popular fitness apps to help keep consumers on track during their workout routines.
"As a watch manufacturer first, our timepieces have always been 'smart' because they've delivered what consumers wanted - reliable, trusted timepieces that keep time and provide much-needed functionality," said Shigenori Itoh, CEO of Casio America Inc. "What the industry views today as 'smart' was simply the next evolution for Casio nearly three years ago when we began offering Bluetooth-enabled devices. As a result of this foresight, Casio is the leading provider of connected timepieces."
To Casio, a smartwatch is more than something that can connect to another device. It must keep accurate time, provide two-way operation of a watch and smartphone, be water resistant, weather the elements, and have a substantial battery life. Casio has been known for its innovative time-keeping technologies for decades, and its line of Bluetooth-enabled timepieces is no different. They deliver smart functionality in addition to all of the time-keeping features and benefits that fans have come to expect from Casio over the years. In particular, by leveraging Bluetooth technology, these timepieces open the door to any number of smart possibilities that allow consumers to create customizable devices for their wrists.

Sensorstream Aims "To Put a Computer on Every Wrist"
USPTO grants allowance to Sensorstream for its circular smart watch case design, commercially dubbed "Pi"; Founder Tom Rapko believes smart watch adoption rate will rival all previous consumer electronics, aims "to put a computer on every wrist."
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sensorstream is pleased to announce the successful allowance of its smart watch case design featuring a circular display from the USPTO and its subsequent release for purchase. Commercially dubbed "Pi," this buttonless smart watch case combines an eponymous circular design with interior threading to support an upgradable modular electronics package.
"This a major coup for our company," commented Sensorstream's founder Tom Rapko. "Securing the design patent for a smart watch featuring a circular display from the USPTO gives us the opportunity to empower the world in a meaningful way. Our goal is nothing short of putting a computer on every wrist."
How can a small piece of metal really empower the world? According to Sensorstream, smart watches will drive disruptive innovations in social networking, entertainment, and commerce. Furthermore, the company believes that these advances will also lead to solutions in both software and hardware, spur mobile payment technology, and even alter the way electricity is distributed via wireless charging. At the heart of this tech push, Sensorstream argues, is the smart watch case itself.
In stark contrast to traditional watch cases, Sensorstream eliminated all external buttons to markedly increase protection from the elements. They threaded the case's interior to help ensure future upgradability with modular electronics and also designed the ergonomic contours of the smart watch to hug the wearer's wrist for enhanced stability.
Sensorstream maintains that the impetus for this robust design was born out of necessity; the challenge was to simultaneously address the complexity of a global market with widely disparate incomes, yet similar consumer needs. The company answered this challenge by developing an aspirational consumer product that would appeal across a wide demographic spectrum. The result is a sleek, tough smart watch case ready to connect the world.
"Smart watches have the potential to rival the adoption rate of any other consumer electronics product ever released," Tom commented. "Form will help shape consumer adoption of smart watches. Aesthetically, we feel a circular display is superior to the dreary square. Frankly, the end game is fusing the look and feel of a Swiss luxury watch with the core functionality of a smart phone."
Physical prototypes of the Pi smart watch case fabricated by Sensorstream's rapid-prototyping partner 3D Systems are available via the company's website priced at $49.95 each in anodized black aluminum. Custom-cut circular Gorilla Glass and heavy-duty watch bands are also available on the website for $19.95 and $14.95 respectively.
Sensorstream and Pi are registered trademarks. Sensorstream is a struggling start-up based in California trying to make a dent in the universe with disruptive wearable technology. All images and content copyright Sensorstream 2010-2014.
