Enjoy Unlimited Smartphone Experience With OPPO's VOOC Flash Charge Technology
NEW DELHI, March 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
- Charges OPPO R5's Battery From Zero to 75% in Only 30 Minutes
- Fully Charged Smartphone at All Times of the Day
OPPO India, a leading global technology brand with presence in North America, Europe
and Asia, has designed and crafted the unique, fast-charging technology 'VOOC Flash
Charge', which has already been introduced in India last year. This technology is designed
specifically for the needs of the customers of today who are increasingly using
smartphones for a number of functions like work, email, entertainment, social media etc.
The OPPO VOOC Flash Charge is capable of charging the phone's battery from zero to 75% in
only 30 minutes. Useful accessories such as VOOC car charger and VOOC powerbank make the
smartphone ready and charged at all times of the day.
VOOC is a thoroughly, independently developed fast charging technology. OPPO has
applied for 16 patents regarding its design and construction. While it takes a regular 1A
or 1.2A battery charger on an average of three hours to reach a full charge of 3,000mAh
even in a best-case scenario, VOOC Flash Charge will boost the OPPO device's battery life
to 75% in only 30 minutes. In addition to having increased the charging speed by four
times, VOOC also boasts of an intelligent five-layer protection system and is arguably the
fastest and safest mobile charging technology in the world. Presently, OPPO offers VOOC
Flash Charge technology in Find 7, Find 7a and R5 handsets in India.
As the proud new-generation flagship of the R series, the strong ultra-thin R5 at just
4.85mm is also equipped with VOOC Flash Charge. What's more, the OPPO R5 boasts of
high-grade specifications such as a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core processor and a
5.2-inch AMOLED screen with a 1080p resolution to deliver seamlessly vibrant performance.
It also features OPPO's unique PureImage 2.0+ and can take 50MP high-definition photos.
OPPO currently has 12 phones including flagship models such as the N3, R5 and Find 7,
bringing its total number of 4G phones to 3 in India. Besides the OPPO N1, the brand's
current India portfolio includes the OPPO R1, OPPO Find 5 Mini, OPPO Neo, OPPO Yoyo, OPPO
Joy, OPPO Find 7 and its lower-end variant Find 7A, R5 Mirror3 and N3.

The NFC chips simplify tag design by integrating RF, signal-conditioning and host interface circuitry, as well as non-volatile 4Kbit FeRAM memory, in a compact surface-mount package. The device connects directly to an external antenna, and supports RF, serial and tunnel communication modes to manage data exchanges between host, reader, and tag.
The development tools also now available from RS include a selection of NFC tag boards containing the IC, antenna and a host connector, as well as evaluation kits that comprise the NFC tag board and a generic microcontroller board. Using either approach helps relieve wireless-design challenges and allows engineers to quickly configure a prototype and begin testing their application using an NFC-enabled mobile handset or dedicated reader/writer. Embedded NFC tags designed using these tools allow innovative ways of communicating with smart posters, home appliances, wearable devices, or office equipment such as printers. NFC also simplifies pairing of Bluetooth® or Wi-Fi® devices.
RS is currently stocking four types of NFC tag ICs. The MN63Y1210 IC <http://th.rs-online.com/web/p/radio-frequency-development-kits/8245523/> is for NFC Forum Type-3 communication, and theMN63Y1208 <http://th.rs-online.com/web/p/radio-frequency-development-kits/8245529/>, MN63Y1212 and MN63Y1213 are capable of supporting Type-3/Type-4 communication. RF interfaces are compliant with JIS X 6319-4 (FeliCa) and ISO/IEC 14443 13.56MHz standards. The host interface can be a 38.4kbps UART or 1Mbps serial port when using the MN63Y1210. The MN63Y1208 and MN63Y1213 have an I2C host interface capable of supporting AES128-encrypted communication.

Kaspersky Lab presents a new free Android app, a tool which enables users to protect
the things that are valuable to them - their mobile devices and personal data. Phound! -
derived from the words Phone and Hound - helps find a lost gadget quickly and keep any
valuable information stored on it away from prying eyes.
According to a survey
[https://press.kaspersky.com/files/2014/08/Kaspersky_Lab_Consumer_Security_Risks_Survey_2014_ENG.pdf ]
of Internet users, over a one year period, one in 20 consumers - and as many
as one in six for some countries - have lost their smartphone or tablet as a result of
carelessness or theft. Over one third (38 per cent) of users admit that their devices
contain confidential data that they would definitely not want to fall into the wrong
hands, including financial data (stored by 19 per cent of respondents) and login details
and passwords for accessing email, social networks and other profiles (30 per cent).
Kaspersky Phound! was developed to prevent this happening. Phound! offers gadget
owners the ability to control their devices and the data stored on them remotely, via the
My Kaspersky [https://center.kaspersky.com ] portal. If a device is lost or stolen, users
can quickly block it to prevent unauthorised access, as well as using GPS, GSM or Wi-Fi
networks to find its position on the map. To make searching for the device easier, users
can also take pictures with the front camera or bring up a message on the device's screen.
If the telephone or tablet was lost at home or in the office, it can be found with the
help of the Alarm feature - the device makes a loud sound and continues until the owner
enters a secret code. As a last resort, the owner can use Phound! to remove all personal
data from the device and the SD card remotely, including contacts, messages, photos etc.,
as well as perform a hard reset of the device, if required.
"For many users, mobile devices serve as storage for their most valuable and important
data - contacts of friends and colleagues, personal messages, private photos and many
other things. This means that today's smartphones and tablets need the same security as a
bank vault. However, unlike bank vaults, smartphones are small, portable and easily
misplaced. That is why we created a solution for our users to prevent their mobile 'vault'
from falling into the wrong hands," said Alexey Chikov, Senior Product Manager, Kaspersky
Lab.
Kaspersky Phound! is available in eight languages from Google Play Store, the official
app store for Android. This app complements the Kaspersky Lab portfolio of free and
freemium mobile products for home users, which includes Kaspersky Safe Browser for iOS and
Windows Phone, Kaspersky QR Scan, Kaspersky Threat Scan, Kaspersky Internet Security for
Android and Kaspersky Password Manager for iOS and Android.

Raritan Reinvents the Rack Power Transfer Switch, Again
-- Fast and Intelligent Rack Transfer Switch Now Features Outlet-Level Metering and Switching --
NEW YORK, March 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Raritan, a leading provider of data center infrastructure management (DCIM) and rack power distribution solutions, today announced new power management capabilities for its award-winning Intelligent Rack Transfer Switch that helps data centers keep equipment operating through power failures and provides insights on energy usage and rack-equipment health.
The Intelligent Rack Transfer Switch - which uses a patent-pending hybrid design for fast and reliable load transfers from one power source to another - now offers outlet-level metering and power switching. Ideal for cloud computing infrastructures and data center racks filled with one-power-supply devices, the new switch is one of the fastest in the industry -- twice as fast as standard automatic transfer switches -- and one of the most reliable.
Similar to Raritan's intelligent rack power distribution units, the new transfer switch can monitor power at the outlet-level, as well as the inlet-level, providing more granular energy information useful for capacity planning and managing energy costs. The transfer switch's new secure switching capabilities enable power to a device to be turned on and off remotely - eliminating visits to the data center. For more visibility to the data center rack, many customers use Raritan's DCIM software to analyze and monitor the power information gathered by the transfer switch, as well as the health of the power chain.
"Before Raritan released its first intelligent rack transfer switch model, the choices were limited," says David Wood, Director, Power Business at Raritan. According to Wood, automatic transfer switches (ATS) were inexpensive, but suffered from longer transfer times of 8 to 16ms, and often failed as a result of electrical arcing that welded contacts together. And, static transfer switches offered very fast transfers of 4 to 6ms, but were nearly six times more expensive than ATS, drew more energy, and produced excess heat that consumed additional cooling resources.
"Raritan overcame these limitations with a new hybrid system that uses the best of both electromechanical relay and silicon-controlled rectifier technologies to deliver fast performance and better energy efficiency and reliability," adds Wood. "By introducing outlet-level metering and switching capabilities to our transfer switch today we are providing tools to help customers better manage their infrastructure resources and create intelligent data centers."
The new Intelligent Rack Transfer Switch will be unveiled at the Datacenter Dynamics conference in New York:

EV Group Extends Leadership In High-Vacuum Wafer Bonding Technology
Two new EVG®580 ComBond® system configurations address university / research & development and high-volume manufacturing needs respectively
ST. FLORIAN, Austria, March 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- EV Group (EVG), a leading supplier of wafer bonding and lithography equipment for the MEMS, nanotechnology and semiconductor markets, today introduced two new configurations to its EVG(®)580 ComBond(®) series of automated high-vacuum covalent wafer bonding systems. Addressing the needs of universities and R&D institutes, and high-volume manufacturing (HVM) requirements, respectively, both system configurations achieve electrically conductive and oxide-free bonds of materials with different lattice constants and coefficients of thermal expansion at room temperature.
Applications that demand room-temperature bonding of substrates with very different material properties and that are supported by the EVG580 ComBond series include advanced engineered substrates, power devices, stacked solar cells and emerging technologies such as silicon photonics.
New Configuration Details
The new entry-level EVG580 ComBond system for universities and R&D institutes comes with one cassette station or manual load port as well as a single-arm robot, supporting up to three process modules. The EVG580 ComBond HVM system can be configured with two cassette stations or an equipment front-end module with up to four cassettes for continuous mode operation, as well as comes with a dual-arm robot to support up to six process modules for maximum throughput.
Both new ComBond system configurations, as well as the standard system that can accommodate up to five process modules, are built on a modular platform supporting wafers up to 200 mm in diameter. In addition to one or more bond chambers, the systems feature a dedicated ComBond Activation Module (CAM), which provides advanced surface preparation by directing energized particles to the substrate surface to achieve a contamination-free and oxide-free bond interface. The systems operate in a high-vacuum-process environment with base pressures in the range of 5x10(-8) mbar, which prevents re-oxidation of the treated wafers prior to the bonding step.
"The EVG580 ComBond system with its standard five-module configuration, which was launched last autumn, has already demonstrated its capabilities with multiple R&D partners and customers," stated Dr. Thomas Glinsner, corporate product management director at EV Group. "With the new three-module system, we will now make this breakthrough technology available to universities and smaller R&D institutes, which often are at the forefront of pioneering advanced electronic materials and device research, such as heterogeneous integration of compound semiconductors for silicon photonics and other leading-edge applications. All ComBond systems can be further customized to address specific application development needs, such as with special metrology modules utilizing free ports of the high-vacuum handling."
Note to Editors:
Combining materials with different properties to produce electronic devices can lead to enhanced device performance due to higher carrier mobility as well as open up new capabilities such as the emission of light through silicon, which can enable optical interconnects and routers. However, combining these materials through traditional epitaxial growth processes leads to crystal dislocation defects due to differences in lattice constant and coefficient of thermal expansion, which in turn degrade performance. These issues can be mitigated by growing each semiconductor material separately on optimized growth substrates and then combining them through wafer bonding. Room-temperature covalent bonding is an ideal choice since it eliminates the need for annealing processes, which generate high temperatures that add additional stress due to CTE mismatch. However, a key limitation of room-temperature covalent bonding has been the inability to maintain tight control of the thickness and uniformity of the bond interface layer, including effective removal of particle contaminants and the native oxide layers, which is necessary in order to achieve an interface that has both sufficient bond strength and electrical conductivity between the bonded materials. The EVG580 ComBond addresses these limitations.

Mentor Graphics Corporation (NASDAQ: MENT) today announced its newest version of the HyperLynx® Signal Integrity/Power Integrity (SI/PI) product for high-speed printed circuit board (PCB) designs. The HyperLynx product addresses high-speed systems design problems throughout the design flow--starting at the earliest architectural stages through post-layout verification. With the increased complexity and high-speed performance of today's integrated circuits (ICs), a growing number of PCBs suffer from signal degradation and timing problems which are exacerbated by power delivery issues; this impacts board performance and possibly total failed logic, requiring costly redesign.
The comprehensive HyperLynx SI/PI product provides tools for pre- and post-layout signal integrity, timing, crosstalk and power integrity analysis to quickly generate accurate simulation results to prevent design re-spins. New features in the HyperLynx SI/PI product include power-aware IBIS model support and the DDRx wizard for DDR4/LPDDR4 (next-generation memory for low-power design) validation.
Commentary:
"Socionext is addressing SI/PI issues that get more complicated at higher frequencies. Over 2Gbps, SSN (Simultaneous Switching Noise) must be considered when designing and simulating DDR4 circuits. REKA Health's Solutions Deployed by Britain's Largest ECG Interpretation Service Provider Broomwell-Healthwatch
-- Broomwell-Healthwatch will deploy the REKA E100L (CE Mark) to serve the UK Market
-- REKA's solution was chosen for its intuitiveness and capability to enable immediate analysis and results interpretation
MANCHESTER, England, March 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Britain's largest electrocardiogram interpretation service Broomwell-Healthwatch Ltd ("Broomwell") has deployed Singapore-based REKA Health Pte Ltd's ("REKA") cardiac monitors and solutions to serve the UK National Health Service Primary Care and private market to detect arrhythmia.
Broomwell currently offers mobile ECG recorder units for patients to wear 24-hours a day up to eight days and is expanding its arrhythmia detection offerings to include the E100L Digital Loop Event Monitor by REKA.
Episodes of arrhythmia, a heart condition whereby the heartbeat is irregular, can occur anytime, lasting between a few minutes to hours. The Digital Loop Event Monitor service is a seven-day home monitoring service, offered by Broomwell, to record the ECG of a patient that is experiencing arrhythmia.
The REKA E100L -- whose small size gives mobility allowing users to use it anytime -- can record valuable data before and after an arrhythmia episode. The data is uploaded onto REKA's cloud solution, providing cardiac-physiologists with insights.
Broomwell is deploying REKA's solution to enhance the operational efficiency of its cardiac professionals. Patients can also use a computer or mobile application to upload ECG recordings, which can be immediately interpreted.
Joshua Rowe, Broomwell's Chairman, said, "REKA's solution equips us to expand our services for arrhythmia. The monitoring will be greatly enhanced by the intuitiveness and availability of data via REKA's system. Immediate analysis and interpretation of results by Broomwell's expert cardiac clinicians is now possible."
Tan Kae Yuan, REKA's CEO, said, "With REKA's solution being deployed to serve the UK market, our CE Mark E100L can benefit more heart patients while reducing the healthcare cost burden."
