National Instruments Introduces PXI Express Module for High-Channel-Count Dynamic Signal Acquisition
New PXI Express Module Features AC/DC Coupling for Multiple Types of Physical Measurements
AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 4, 2011/PRNewswire/ -- National Instruments (Nasdaq: NATI) today announced the NI PXIe-449x devices, the most flexible high-channel-count dynamic signal acquisition (DSA) modules NI has to offer. The modules provide AC/DC coupling both for sensor measurements with a microphone or accelerometer and voltage measurements from a tachometer or device under test, making it possible for engineers to use a single device for all their sound and vibration acquisition needs.
"We need scalable data acquisition hardware and software that yields accurate data efficiently," said Michael James, vice president at Blue Ridge Research and Consulting. "Leveraging LabVIEW with the NI PXIe-449x DSA module fulfilled our needs by enabling us to customize our applications and perform real-time monitoring."
The NI PXIe-449x modules feature a choice of 8 or 16 channels with 24-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) per channel and 113 dB dynamic range. The large dynamic range minimizes the noise floor, making it easy to detect even the smallest vibration and acoustic signals. The NI PXIe-449x modules also provide software-selectable gains that help engineers configure gain on each channel for the best signal-to-noise ratio possible.
With the NI PXIe-449x modules, engineers can easily synchronize physical measurements of any type and correlate real-time events. The modules sync effortlessly with the NI SC Express family of data acquisition modules, which provide signal conditioning and connectivity ideal for temperature, strain and high-voltage acquisition. The ability to combine the modules makes the PXI platform ideal for structural test, design validation and other dynamic tests.
The NI PXIe-449x devices are also compatible with the NI Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite, an interactive software for quickly acquiring, analyzing and logging acoustic and vibration measurements. The suite includes the NI Sound and Vibration Assistant and NI LabVIEW analysis VIs. High-level, ready-to-run applications for performing nondestructive tests are included.

Somfy Launches TaHomA® Comprehensive Home Automation Solution
TaHomA Gives Consumers Simple and Economical Solution for Automating the Control of Window Coverings, Lighting, and Thermostats
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Somfy Systems, Inc., the world's largest manufacturer of radio-controlled motors (Radio Technology Somfy - RTS) for interior and exterior window coverings, is pleased to announce the launch of TaHomA®, a home automation solution that enables consumers to easily and efficiently control their homes' "energy triangle."
TaHomA begins with an innovative, affordable and easy-to-use Z-Wave home automation solution that allows consumers to control, schedule and supervise their Z-wave enabled window coverings, lighting, and thermostats. Accessible from a computer, iPad or iPhone within or outside the home, TaHomA's user-friendly Web-based interface guides consumers with intuitive graphics and step-by-step prompts as they personalize their home energy functions. TaHomA is a robust yet low-maintenance system that allows users to easily choose their level of involvement--as needed, when needed.
TaHomA will grow with the needs of the home environment and provide a Total Home Automation solution for a broad range of lifestyles.
"With the launch of TaHomA, we offer a unique and affordable tool that will help consumers achieve greater energy efficiency while enjoying the ease and luxury of home automation," said Somfy North America CEO and President Michael Lee. "TaHomA presents a practical and strategic extension of our current business, as it seamlessly integrates Somfy's existing collection of trusted products that have been used in homes around the world for decades."
With TaHomA, users can efficiently manage their homes' energy triangle, or optimize the interaction of natural and artificial lighting, heating and cooling according to their personal preferences.
Through the following short series of steps, consumers will quickly and easily begin enjoying the TaHomA technology:
-- A certified Somfy TaHomA Expert dealer installs and tailors the
operation of the TaHomA gateway controller and each Z-Wave and RTS
wireless controlled device according to the consumer's life at home and
when away.
-- When plugged into a home's network router, TaHomA automatically connects
and configures to the home network and Somfy's remote support server
allowing TaHomA to locate all of the Z-Wave and RTS wireless controlled
devices.
-- Scenes are created with a blend of various devices with personalized
settings and pre-scheduled hours of automatic operation for each day of
the week.
-- Once the specifications and schedule have been determined for each of
the Z-Wave and RTS wireless controlled devices in the house, TaHomA will
automatically control these devices 24/7, 365 days a year.
Creating and scheduling "scenes" helps consumers simplify and optimize their home's natural and artificial lighting, heating, and cooling needs. For example, a common scene might call for window shades drawn to 50 percent, lights in the kitchen to be automatically turned off, and the thermostat set to energy savings mode every day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. when the house in unoccupied. Then, at 4 p.m., window shades will be closed, lights will automatically turn on to 75 percent, and the thermostat will be set to a comfortable temperature, as household members arrive and become active in the home.
The TaHomA controller operates with Z-Wave enabled light switches and dimmers, thermostats, motion sensors and Somfy RTS controlled motorized window coverings such as blinds, shades and awnings. Z-Wave is a wireless ecosystem that uses simple and reliable low-power radio waves, with Radio Technology Somfy® (RTS), the company's proprietary wireless radio technology embedded in millions of motorized window coverings around the world. The TaHomA solution optimizes the best of both technologies and establishes a reliable network. The options for customization are vast, as consumers can choose to control individual devices, single rooms or regions, or the entire home.
Somfy brings TaHomA to market with the support of its superior customer service capabilities, and extensive network of Somfy Expert dealers across the country. TaHomA will be available for purchase in the first half of 2011. Systems will be affordably priced and can be purchased from Somfy TaHomA Expert Dealers throughout the United States.
To learn more about TaHomA or to see a full product demonstration, please visit the Somfy booth (#21266 South Hall) at CES.

AT&T Noted as a Leader in Cloud and Web Hosting Magic Quadrant by Top Analyst Firm
DALLAS, Jan. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T* today announced its position as a leader in Gartner's Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Web Hosting Magic Quadrant.(1)
The Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud IaaS and Web Hosting is a representation of the marketplace during a specific time period. It depicts Gartner's analysis of how certain vendors measure against criteria for that marketplace, as defined by Gartner. This Magic Quadrant assessed the "completeness of vision" and "ability to execute" of 20 cloud infrastructure and web hosting providers.
"I'm pleased to see Gartner recognize AT&T as a leader in complex managed hosting, application hosting, and cloud infrastructure services. We believe our skills in engineering and operations are key contributors to AT&T's placement in the Leaders quadrant," said Steve Caniano, Vice President of Hosting and Cloud Services, AT&T Business Solutions.
As cloud computing and web hosting have evolved during the past several years, AT&T has refocused its strategy to develop and expand upon these emerging services. AT&T believes that Gartner's evaluation captures AT&T's success in growing its cloud portfolio, while also highlighting its long track record of leadership in hosting, ranging from complex managed hosting for large-scale deals to many types of self-managed and lightly managed solutions.
"We feel Gartner's positioning of AT&T as a Leader in this MQ is a market confirmation of AT&T's investment and commitment to our cloud strategy," said John Potter, Vice President of As a Service Solutions, AT&T Business Solutions. "By combining our mobility solutions with our global IP backbone, we have a clear advantage in the cloud and our clients reap the benefits. And we're continuing to invest in the technology, customer support, and expertise that we need to provide the best possible experience in on-demand infrastructure - as well as services in the cloud."
AT&T offers a variety of cloud-based solutions to its business customers, including Web Hosting, storage as a service, compute as a service, Application Management and content delivery. AT&T's strategy is to deliver network, computing and application services to any device (fixed or mobile), and to transform the way those services are used by customers - whether they're tracking inventory, recording patients' vital signs or participating in multimedia conferences across the globe.

TheLadders.com Launches New TV Commercials to Highlight How Its Services Make Professionals More Attractive to Recruiters
NEW YORK, Jan. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- TheLadders.com, the leading marketplace for professional jobs ($100K+), today announced the launch of a new television commercial campaign that celebrates how TheLadders makes professional candidates more attractive to employers and recruiters. The new More Attractive spots were created by Fallon Minneapolis and will air nationally on broadcast and cable television networks.
"TheLadders helps navigate professionals - online and offline - through a successful job search," said Alex Douzet, President and co-founder of TheLadders. "Starting this January, premium members of TheLadders will be assigned their own Job Search Advisor who will assist them in getting the most out of the site during their job search." Douzet added, "Our deep knowledge and insights about what works best for job seekers and recruiters has created an opportunity for us to deliver a job search and recruiting model that delivers success. We're not only delivering more attractive candidates to recruiters but we're also creating a more attractive hiring process."
TheLadders connects professionals with employers and recruiters who are searching for qualified talent. TheLadders provides the following features to job seekers:
-- One-on-One Guidance - Support from a dedicated Job Search Advisor to
help make the best use of the site and its services.
-- Pre-Screened Jobs - Pre-screened employment opportunities that meet the
requirements of a $100K+ opportunity.
-- Resume Review - Easy-to-understand resume review that assesses its

delivers instant updates about new employment opportunities from the
recruiters you've chosen to follow.
-- Career Advice - Stay on track with career advice about every step of the
job search process, from resume writing and branding, to interview
preparation and salary negotiation.
The More Attractive advertising campaign highlights the benefit professionals receive through TheLadders' unique set of tools and resources, and presents it through a tongue-in-cheek parody of the high-fashion world. "Members of TheLadders are extraordinary in so many ways, it seemed the right imagery to bring that out," said Darren Spiller, Fallon Chief Creative Officer. "While a job search is certainly a serious process, members of TheLadders have the great feeling that comes from knowing they're well prepared and able to present themselves at their very best. That positive energy is what TheLadders, and this campaign, delivers."
Actual members of TheLadders are featured in the advertising, and were selected from nearly 700 members who applied to be included. "The user testimonial tends to lack credibility," said David Sigel, Fallon Director of Account Management, "but we wanted to give the members a chance to show their stuff, and get across the confidence they feel as a result of working with TheLadders. Judging by their performances, some of these members may have found a new career already!"
TheLadders has received numerous industry awards and accolades, including Most Valuable Startup New York City (2010, BusinessInsider), Best Employment Website (2009, Webby Awards), Best Companies to Work for in New York (2009), Sales Department of the Year for Computer Services (2009, Stevie Awards), Top 25 Most Valuable Digital Start Ups (2009, Silicon Alley Insider), among others. INRIX powers Toyota Entune on select audio headunits by combining real-time, crowd sourced traffic information from more than 3 million GPS-enabled vehicles and mobile devices with insight from hundreds of public and private sources to recommend the best routes as well as provide reliable travel times and ETAs. Covering major highways, interstates, arterials and city streets in 20 countries across Europe and North America, INRIX also provides to Entune users up-to-the-minute traffic road condition updates -- including construction, accidents, road closures and other incidents.

Iomega Saves the Day for iPhone Users with Exciting New Iomega SuperHero Backup and Charger for iPhone!

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Iomega, an EMC company (NYSE: EMC) and a leading innovator in digital storage and content management solutions, today announced the company is here to save the day for millions of iPhone® users who have experienced the panic and despair of losing their contacts and photos on their iPhone: the new Iomega® SuperHero(TM) Backup and Charger for iPhone.

Available now worldwide, Iomega is unveiling the new Iomega SuperHero Backup and Charger for iPhone this week, January 6-9, 2011, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Iomega's tradeshow booth is located in the South Hall 3 (booth # 31553).
How the Iomega SuperHero Backup and Charger for iPhone Works
Iomega's new SuperHero Backup and Charger for iPhone is a compact docking station device that sits on your counter, desktop or nightstand and plugs directly into a wall outlet. Ideal for travel, too, the SuperHero Backup and Charger comes complete with a 4GB* SD card that provides the storage in the docking station for iPhone contacts and camera roll pictures. (The SD card is upgradeable if users need more capacity to backup one or more iPhones.) Users simply download free of charge the SuperHero iPhone app from the Apple Store and their iPhone is ready for charging and backing up with the Super Hero Backup and Charger.
When an iPhone loaded with the SuperHero app is placed in the SuperHero dock, the app launches automatically, giving the option of backing up the contacts and photos while it charges the phone. Users can name their iPhones with the SuperHero app so that multiple iPhones can be charged and their contacts and photos backed up with the same SuperHero Backup and Charger. A progress bar lets you know when your backup is complete. After the initial backup of an iPhone's contacts and photos**, future backups only include incremental contacts and photos. If a user loses or damages their iPhone, they can restore their contacts and photos to a new iPhone by docking the new iPhone in the SuperHero dock and selecting the "restore" button.

** Initial backup of camera roll photos on an iPhone will take substantially more time than the shorter incremental backups of new photos. Contacts are typically a small file that will backup much quicker than photos. Iomega recommends allowing ample time for an initial backup of an iPhone's photos. (For example, multiple nightly backup sessions are recommended to complete the initial backup.)

Great Images and Instant Gratification With Eye-Fi's Direct Mode - The Mobile Solution
New Card Technology and Eye-Fi App Enable Consumers to Get the Best of their Digital Cameras and Mobile Devices; Further Expands Eye-Fi's Connected Ecosystem
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Eye-Fi Inc. (http://www.eye.fi), makers of the world's first wireless memory card, today announced Direct Mode at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Leveraging a combination of new technology in Eye-Fi cards and new Eye-Fi mobile apps, Direct Mode enables consumers to bring together the imaging quality of a digital camera and the connectivity of a smartphone or tablet in an unprecedented way. This innovative solution wirelessly connects the camera to the mobile device to provide a seamless experience between the moment a memory is captured and when consumers want to browse, edit, save and share their memories.
"For anyone who has ever had to choose between taking great images with their digital camera and the instant gratification of sharing with a smartphone, Direct Mode is the answer," said Jef Holove, CEO of Eye-Fi. "New technology in the card combined with a free Eye-Fi app on a mobile device means consumers no longer have to compromise between rich, lifelike memories and saving or sharing those memories from anywhere."
With Direct Mode, photos taken with your digital camera can immediately be sent to your smartphone or tablet. They can be viewed, used with myriad apps on the device, or uploaded and shared.
In addition, photos and videos can automatically and wirelessly be backed up and organized in the consumer's private Eye-Fi View account. From there, they are accessible for viewing and sharing from any Internet connected device - regardless of which camera they were taken with.
"We have a diversity of devices we use for different purposes," continued Holove. "Digital cameras are just plain better at taking photos and videos, especially when lighting, action, or zoom distance affect the shot. But, there's no doubt that the apps, touch interface and always-connected nature of mobile devices are compelling. With this new technology, we are bridging the gap between the camera and mobile, bringing the best of all the devices that we own to the capture and sharing of memories."
Eye-Fi also extends the browsing and sharing experience by providing a seamless connected imaging experience through its own ecosystem of partners - from leading digital camera makers like Canon, Nikon and Sony to 45 popular photo sharing sites like Facebook, Flickr and Picasa. The result is millions of photos and videos being effortlessly shared from cameras each month.
Direct Mode will be available as a free upgrade to all Eye-Fi X2 cards later in 2011.
To see more, Eye-Fi will be demonstrating this new capability at CES at booth #3615 in the "Living in Digital Times" section of the North Hall.
Founded in 2005, Eye-Fi is dedicated to building products and services that help consumers manage, nurture and share their visual memories. Eye-Fi's patented and patent-pending technology wirelessly and automatically uploads photos and videos from digital imaging devices, including digital cameras and the iPhone, to online, in-home and retail destinations. Headquartered in Mountain View, Calif., the company's investors include LMS Capital, Opus Capital, Shasta Ventures and TransLink Capital. More information is available at http://www.eye.fi.
Eye-Fi memory cards work like a regular SDHC memory card and are compatible with most compact and DSLR cameras. Users can also select which photos and videos are uploaded, and where they're shared - choosing from 45 partner sites, including Flickr, Facebook, Picasa and more. Never run out of space with Endless Memory.
Eye-Fi products and services are now available at Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, Office Depot and Apple stores nationwide and online. For more information about Eye-Fi, please visit http://www.eye.fi.

Green Onions Supply iVeil Hybrid Keyboard Protectors
SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Green Onions Supply has just released a brand-new line of keyboard skins: iVeil Hybrid Keyboard Protectors! This new generation of keyboard protectors will be on display at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Green Onions Supply has been in the keyboard cover business for many years, which has provided a wealth of experience in protector materials and construction. The focus of this experience is creating keyboard protectors that keep out dust and spills, but never get in the way of typing. We aim to create an inconspicuous, unobtrusive, and invisible keyboard protector.
iVeil Hybrid Keyboard Protectors are designed to surpass their predecessor's limitations. These top-quality keyboard covers combine ultra-thin, custom-molded silicone with an enhanced surfacing material: this results in properties that surpass those of normal silicone or polyurethane keyboards skins.
The upper side has a smooth surface coat, which allows for more comfortable typing, while the underside retains the excellent anchoring and durability of silicone.
Even with this multi-layer design, we have managed to maintain extremely thin construction. At 0.25 mm thick, you'll never feel like the protector is getting in the way of normal typing.
Four models of the iVeil Hybrid Keyboard Protector will be available from retailers:
1. MacBook Pro (13, 15 and 17 inch aluminum unibody models) and MacBook Air (13-inch, released Fall 2010)
2. 11-inch MacBook Air (released Fall 2010

TI introduces the CC2567, the first dual-mode single-chip solution delivering ANT+ and Bluetooth® connectivity
TI builds out its ANT(TM)-based solutions with a new product and two developer kits designed to ease integration of ANT+ interoperability into health and fitness devices
DALLAS, Jan. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) today introduced the CC2567 device, the first wireless, single-chip solution that enables direct short-range communication between ultra low-power, ANT+-enabled devices and commonly used mobile devices relying on Bluetooth® technology such as PCs, Smartphones and tablets. The industry's first dual-mode device, the CC2567 requires 80 percent less board area than a design with two single-mode solutions (one ANT+, one Bluetooth), enables simultaneous operation over a shared antenna with built-in coexistence, and increases the wireless transmission range up to two times the distance of a single-mode ANT+ solution.
The CC2567 device will be available as part of the new ANT+ Bluetooth Health & Fitness Aggregator Kit. As the only supplier of ANT(TM) solutions for both sensor applications and mobile handheld peripherals, TI also announced today availability of a second evaluation kit, the CC257x ANT Network Processor Kit -- building out the company's ANT solution portfolio. Visit the following links to order either development kit:
"TI is uniquely positioned to leverage its short range wireless expertise gained through the development of our wireless combo chips and low power RF portfolios. As a result, we're the first to wirelessly bridge the gap between ANT+ and Bluetooth devices with a single chip, dual-mode solution--the CC2567 device. Whether our customers are building an ANT+-based sensor or an aggregator connecting that sensor to the Smartphone and PC worlds, we have the right solution to meet their needs," said Eran Sandhaus, director of marketing, wireless connectivity solutions, TI.
To date, the established ANT+ interoperable ecosystem offers an install base of more than 11 million devices that, for example, monitor heart rate, weight, speed, or distance data. Consumers then want to interact with that vital data on an endpoint device to develop and monitor health and fitness regimens. With nearly three billion Bluetooth-enabled endpoint devices -- like PCs, tablets or Smartphones -- on the market, direct communication with Bluetooth becomes the optimal wireless communication channel.
"TI's solution offers the best of both worlds: the leader in high speed wireless transport linking to the leader in ULP wireless sensor data collection," stated Rod Morris, Director, ANT Wireless. "This gives the consumer the ubiquitous solution they need to easily make health and fitness a part of daily life."
By incorporating TI's CC2567 solution into their devices, customers delivering monitoring products with ANT+ or endpoint products with Bluetooth can finally leverage the connectivity technologies' market adoption to create a truly wireless, cable-free end user experience. As a result, consumers will be able to engage with their vital data in real time without incurring a huge cost.

Both products are expected to begin volume production and delivery to system integrators and solution providers in the first quarter of 2011, and have already been pre-ordered by several customers to be used in frequent traveler applications in transportation, couponing in retail, and application development in education.
Based on the NFC SecuRead(TM) System-in-Package solution from INSIDE Secure, TazCard and TazBox simplify the deployment of secure contactless communications for a variety of applications in retail services--including payment, coupon and loyalty--home automation, home care, commercial security and other applications. In addition to NFC, both products also feature ZigBee® medium-range wireless communications for use in retail services and home automation applications.
"Secure contactless devices such as our TazCard and TazBox promise to revolutionize a variety of everyday interactions, from enhancing the customer retail shopping experience to expediting the delivery of home care services to providing highly secure access control for sensitive environments such as airports," said Eric Fouchard, CEO of TazTag. "TazCard is an ideal, thin-client mobile platform that can securely store and communicate personal information and provide a graphical touch interface, while TazBox offers the easiest way to deploy NFC hotspots to facilitate communication between TazCard or other mobile NFC devices and back-end services, applications and the Internet."
Essentially a special-purpose, Linux-based tablet computer about the size of a credit card, the TazCard is capable of supporting a variety of identity, healthcare, transportation, loyalty, ticketing, payments, advertising, access control, authentication and other secure NFC-based applications. An autonomous, smart mobile device designed for corporate, campus and consumer environments, the TazCard features a 3.5-inch color touch screen, biometric authentication, audio output, data storage and a tamper-resistant secure element. It offers USB and ZigBee communications in addition to NFC.
The TazBox is a true, autonomous NFC hotspot that provides all the infrastructure necessary to enable secure contactless communications with mobile NFC devices such as TazCard, NFC mobile phones and new-generation loyalty and payment smart cards. TazBox also includes a ZigBee gateway. The TazBox connects to back-end systems through a flexible suite of Wi-Fi, Ethernet and optional 3G interfaces, and can be conveniently placed on any desk or counter top to provide a link between users and service providers.
"TazCard and TazBox are the first products based on our new SecuRead system-in-package NFC solution, which combines a NFC controller, a secure element, a Java Card OS and INSIDE Open NFC(TM) Stack to ease device integration, opening the door to a variety of mobile commerce and other secure applications," said Loic Hamon, vice president of products and marketing for the NFC business line at INSIDE Secure. "Our seasoned support staff has worked closely with TazTag to ensure the smooth, successful integration and validation of our NFC solutions into these products, and we applaud TazTag's innovative efforts to broaden the use of NFC beyond the handset."
Technical staff from INSIDE Secure will also be available in the TazTag booth to discuss SecuRead and other NFC solutions.

VIZIO Announces Full Line Up of New LED LCD HDTVs Including Theater 3D(TM) and Cinema HDTV(TM) Ultra-Widescreen Models
-VIZIO to extend its leadership in LED LCD HDTVs with models from 16- to 71-inch classes
-Many models include Theater 3D technology for a superior 3D experience
-Nearly all models feature VIZIO Internet Apps(TM) (VIA) with built-in Wi-Fi for even more entertainment on demand
IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- VIZIO, America's #1 LCD HDTV Company*, announces over 40 new LED LCD HDTVs, from a convenient 16-inch class size to a larger-than-life 71-inch class size and two new Cinema HDTV(TM) LED lit models that supports 21:9 Cinema aspect ratio with Theater 3D and VIZIO Internet Apps(TM). The new models span across all three of VIZIO's HDTV product lines, from the essential E series, to the sleek design of the M series, and to the award winning, high performance XVT series.
Already the North American leader in LED LCD HDTVs, showing 30% YoY growth from 2009-2010*, the variety of these new models will further demonstrate VIZIO's role as the leader in LED LCD HDTVs.
"LED's will account for about 21% of LCD TV shipments in North America for 2010, but jump dramatically to more than half of all LCD TV shipments in 2011** as the premium for them falls and a new range of more affordable edge-lit LED solutions are brought to the market," stated Paul Gagnon, Director of North American TV Research at DisplaySearch.
VIZIO's Leading LED LCD Picture Quality
All E and M series LED LCD models utilize VIZIO's Edge-Lit Razor LED(TM) backlighting technology. Razor LED(TM) puts rows of LEDs along the edges of the screen, allowing for incredibly thin designs, and offering greener performance than other conventional LCD TVs. Many models also feature Smart Dimming, which intelligently controls the array of LEDs, organized in up to 32 zones. Working frame by frame, based on the content being displayed, Smart Dimming adjusts brightness in precise steps down to deep black level (where the LED is completely off in many models). This cutting-edge technology minimizes light leakage and can enable a Dynamic Contrast Ratio of up to 10 Million to 1, for blacker blacks and whiter whites.
Most of the top of the line XVT Series LED LCD models have VIZIO's Full Array TruLED(TM) backlighting with Smart Dimming technology. With over 120 zones, TruLED backlighting is able to dim specific areas of the image, depending on what's on screen, resulting in the most incredible and life-like images that "pop" off the screen.
In addition, LEDs are more energy efficient than other commercially available TV technologies, generally requiring less power to run. They also don't contain mercury, a toxin commonly found in conventional TVs.
"VIZIO's leadership in LED will continue with the introduction of over 40 models for 2011," stated Matthew McRae, VIZIO CTO. "The picture performance and environmental benefits are available in sizes ranging from the petite 16 inch class to the larger-than-life 71-inch class, ensuring there is an LED lit model that suits every need."
Theater 3D - Superior 3D For All
Available on select models in the E and M series, and on the entire XVT series, VIZIO Theater 3D(TM) offers consumers a revolutionary new technology that renders flicker-free and brighter images than conventional 3D technologies currently in the market. By utilizing a circular polarized filter, the burden of 3D processing is built into the TV, allowing Theater 3D(TM) eyewear to be free of the batteries and shutter mechanisms inherent in Active Shutter 3D TVs.
Theater 3D(TM) offers several performance advantages over conventional, "active" 3D systems. Theater 3D(TM) is up to 2X brighter, significantly reduces crosstalk compared to current Active Shutter LCD TVs, handles fast motion without blurring, has a wider horizontal viewing angle, and has none of the annoying Active Shutter 3D flicker that may cause eye strain. In addition, Theater 3D(TM) eyewear can be used to view 3D movies in a majority of movie theaters.
Depending on the model up to four pairs of the lightweight and comfortable Theater 3D(TM) glasses are included with each TV. With this, VIZIO has eliminated two of the most common objections to 3D HDTV purchases: the need to wear bulky 3D glasses that require batteries or recharging and the need to invest in expensive additional 3D glasses so the entire family can enjoy it together. Half of the included glasses are specially designed to accommodate prescription eyeglass wearers. By incorporating all of the 3D processing into the TV instead of burdening the eyewear, as is the case with Active Shutter 3D technology, VIZIO Theater 3D enables users to wear comfortable, eco-friendly, battery-free eyewear instead of Active Shutter glasses that are heavy, awkward, and require recharging and other maintenance.
Each Theater 3D(TM) model supports a wide selection of 3D formats to ensure compatibility across Blu-ray, broadcast, cable, satellite, and gaming. This includes Frame Packing, Side-by-Side, Top and Bottom, plus SENSIO® HiFi 3D and the RealD Format.
VIZIO Internet Apps(TM) (VIA) - Entertainment On Demand
Available on most VIZIO LED LCD HDTVs, VIZIO Internet Apps(TM) (VIA) offers content through the Internet from top brands including: Amazon Video On Demand, Facebook®, Flickr®, Netflix, Rhapsody®, Pandora®, Twitter(TM), VUDU®, and Yahoo!® TV Widgets, as well as several new apps recently released, including: Fandango®, iMemories®, MediaBox(TM), My-Cast®, TuneIn Radio(TM), Web Videos, Wiki TV and Yahoo Fantasy Football. VIZIO Internet Apps(TM) (VIA) delivers unprecedented choice and control of web-based content directly to the television without the need for a PC or set-top box.
Many models come with IR or Bluetooth remote controls with QWERTY keyboards, making navigation incredibly simple and intuitive. State of the art wireless Internet access is available through built-in single or Dual-Band 802.11n Wi-Fi, allowing viewers to enjoy the convenience of on-demand movies, TV shows, social networking, music, photos and more with just the push of a button.
VIZIO Internet Apps(TM) (VIA) Plus HDTVs
The XVT3D476SP and XVT3D556SP are part of the new VIZIO VIA Plus ecosystem that combines the convenience of entertainment on demand with a consistent and seamless experience across all devices in the ecosystem, including the VIZIO Phone and VIZIO Tablet. VIZIO Internet Apps(TM) (VIA) Plus TVs, which will incorporate the Google TV platform, feature a sophisticated and intuitive user interface that allows users to access their favorite apps as well as search and browse the web using a premium Bluetooth QWERTY universal remote with touchpad and built-in dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi.
Cinema HDTV - Ultra-Widescreen
Two models in the XVT Series are part of the new Cinema HDTV(TM) line. These 21:9 aspect ratio models can display 2.35:1 ("CinemaScope") movies without any black bars for a true cinematic experience. Most HDTVs have an aspect ratio of 16:9, or 1.78:1, and a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 often referred to as 1080p Full HD. This aspect ratio was a compromise between the more square formatting of older televisions (4:3 or 1.33:1) and the wider 1.85:1 aspect of many movies. A 1.85:1 movie on a 16:9 HDTV will still show some black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. Big-budget Hollywood blockbusters, though, are usually filmed in the much wider 2.35:1 or 2.39:1 aspect ratio. VIZIO's new Cinema HDTVs slot in between these "CinemaScope" aspect ratios perfectly with a 2.37:1 (21:9) aspect ratio. So whether you're watching 2001, Lord of the Rings, Kill Bill, Toy Story 3, or countless other movies, you can watch them in their original aspect ratio and without black bars.
Each Cinema HDTV(TM) model also features VIZIO Internet Apps(TM) in Cinema mode, which allows users to simultaneously browse Apps while watching 16:9 Full HD content without compromise in resolution or change in size.
Cinema HDTV models will be available in 50- and 58- inch class sizes. VIZIO will also be demonstrating a 71-inch class model at their private CES showcase at the Wynn Hotel.
Advanced Audio
To ensure the audio experience is every bit as good as the video, all the new LED lit models feature audio technologies from SRS Labs. E series models feature SRS TruSurround HD(TM), which creates an immersive, feature-rich surround sound experience from just two speakers, complete with rich bass, high frequency detail and clearer dialog. Also available on most models is SRS TruVolume(TM) - a revolutionary solution that provides a consistent and comfortable volume level while watching TV programming for a more enjoyable multimedia experience.
Most M and all Theater 3D and XVT models feature SRS StudioSound HD - the ultimate all-in-one audio suite designed specifically for Flat Panel TVs. Years of excellence in audio, practical experience and patented technologies allow StudioSound HD to deliver the most immersive and natural surround sound ever using built-in TV speakers. The suite also delivers remarkably crisp and clear dialog, rich bass, an elevated sound stage and consistent, spike-free volume levels. StudioSound HD features optimized audio presets for movies, news, sports and music while also providing a built-in EQ toolset for peak audio performance.
VIZIO continues to embrace its leadership in the LED LCD TV marketplace, not only being the #1 brand in sales, but also the brand in features, technologies and performance. The new LED lit models will become available starting this spring.

Broadcom Delivers Nine New 40nm Set-Top Box Solutions for the Full Resolution 3DTV Internet Connected Home
Cable, Satellite and IP STB Solutions Feature Higher Performance, Lower Cost and a Reduction in Power Consumption
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- 2011 International CES -- Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM), a global leader in semiconductors for wired and wireless communications, today announced nine new cable, satellite and IP set-top box (STB) system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions that enable multiple ways for consumers to experience the next generation Internet connected home featuring full resolution 3DTV. Designed in 40 nanometer (nm) CMOS process, all nine of Broadcom's new STB SoC solutions feature high integration, high performance and lower overall system cost.
Broadcom's new technology features a high performance application processor, support for Internet-based whole-home connectivity applications and services, and support for full resolution HD 3DTV capabilities (including MPEG H.264 scalable and multiview video coding (SVC/MVC) standards, and an OpenGL® ES 2.0 3D graphics processing unit (GPU) for advanced 3D graphics). Broadcom also provides extensive application libraries that enable rich Internet-based TV experiences using widely adopted industry standards, as well as support for the proliferation of high definition and 3DTV video content and web-based services.
By sharing common core architectures, each new STB platform enables consumer electronics manufacturers and service providers to quickly and more easily develop software and hardware solutions that can be leveraged across a wide range of devices. Broadcom's new STB SoCs will be demonstrated at this week's International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Highlights/Key Facts:
-- In the media server cable, satellite and IP STB market, Broadcom
introduces two new 40nm cable STB SoCs that feature an ultra-high
performance MIPS®-based 1.3 GHz dual threaded applications processor
with an additional 3000 DMIPS of hardware processing performance,
totaling 6000 DMIPS. These new SoC solutions complement the Broadcom
BCM7422 and Broadcom BCM7421 (the industry's first 40nm HD full
resolution 3DTV video gateway STB SoCs announced in December 2010).
-- At the center of the home multimedia network, Broadcom's BCM7425 is
the world's first home video media server (VMS) SoC solution to
integrate a real-time HD transcoder coupled with a high performance
applications processor, full resolution 3DTV with SVC, an OpenGL ES
2.0 3D GPU and MoCA 1.1 for whole-home connectivity. The BCM7425's
HD transcoder converts broadcast, over-the-top (OTT) and
user-generated content into a wide range of resolutions, formats and
bit rates that enable seamless content distribution to connected
devices both in the home and on-the-go, and also provides advanced
services, such as video conferencing.
-- The new Broadcom BCM7424 VMS SoC solution features the same
functionality as the BCM7425, but includes integrated Ethernet MII
and PHY support for connectivity with Broadcom's Wi-Fi and powerline
solutions.
-- Also introduced is the Broadcom BCM7418, a second generation
connected client STB SoC with MoCA 1.1 that works together with
server STB SoCs (such as the BCM7425 and the BCM7422) for enabling
whole-home connectivity and features multi-room DVR and support for
other connected home applications.
-- In the satellite STB market, Broadcom introduces four new 40nm SoC

2011 CES Highlight: Michley Tivax Launches Two of the World's First Portable 3D TVs
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Nevada Booth #11946 2011 CES -- Michley Tivax unveils several new products including two, extremely innovative portable 3D devices. With 20 years of manufacturing experience, Michley Tivax quickly leapt to the forefront of the digital portable television industry, and is now seeking to expand upon its technological leadership.
The new Michley Tivax announcements include the MiTV3D7, the first seven inch digital portable television affording viewers the luxury of watching 2D programming in 3D format. And perhaps best of all none of those 3D glasses are needed. Good news for both 3D viewers and gamers. The MiTV3D7 employs an LCD panel with 800X480 resolution, providing viewers with ultimate clarity when optimally viewed within a 40 degree angle and at a distance of two feet from the display.
The second 3D first for Michley Tivax is the MiTV-3D-C201 dongle, enabling computer users to watch 3D programming on their personal computers. The dongle device along with an antenna allows users to receive TV programs, and even if that content is in normal 2D format, it will be converted to 3D. 3D glasses are essential for this product, with the type of glasses varying upon the brand of monitor. This is a most inexpensive way to watch 3D. Believe it or not the picture quality rivals that of conventional 3D TVs!
A third new product introduced at 2011 CES by Michley Tivax is its latest MiTV mobile7. This fully portable digital seven inch TV captures high quality signals both mobile M/H and ATSC even while traveling at highway speeds. Passengers, not drivers, can view favorite programs without interruption while en route to their destination. As more and more stations commence broadcasting in the new mobile format, the Michley Tivax portable is sure to garner a strong audience.
In the relatively short-lived existence of digital television, Michley Tivax was one of the first companies earning plaudits for its efforts, most notably by the leading consumer rating's publication for its STB-T9 digital converter box. Since then Michley Tivax has concentrated efforts on enhancing portable digital television technology.
