Cutting-Edge Technologies Position DentalLab.com as Emerging Leader in Dental Lab Services Outsourcing
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Dec. 30, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Using advanced technology to create high-quality dental lab products quickly and at an affordable price is the mission of DentalLab.com (http://www.dentallab.com), a new full-service dental laboratory serving dentists and labs within the United States and around the world.
DentalLab.com was founded in 2010 by its president and CEO, Maksym Holovchenko, an entrepreneur with a successful track record of establishing and managing fast-growing Internet companies. "My knowledge and experience with technology allows me to bring companies online and take them to new horizons," said Holovchenko. "And we'll use that technological expertise to become a leader in the industry."
"The cost of running a personal dental laboratory is often prohibitive for dentists, but they are also taking a leap of faith when they outsource work to dental lab," Holovchenko explained. "They have to trust those extension services to deliver premium products and services, fast turnaround times and technical accuracy. We use the most up-to-date technologies and materials to supply all of the above at a fraction of what it would cost our clients to perform such work in-house."
DentalLab.com serves as a dental office resource for restoration materials, custom-made veneers, crowns, or dentures and specialized imaging. Examples of the type of technologies that the laboratory employs include IPS e.max and IPS Empress materials for dental prosthetics and accessories, Captek(TM) technology for crowns and bridges, Procera for metal-free crowns and veneers, and CAD and CAM techniques to produce prosthetics.
Dentists and labs can create an online account at the website and log into that account at any time to make inquiries, place orders, and check on the status of their products and services. If clients need one-on-one assistance, DentalLab.com's support line provides access to customer service representatives with expertise in dental technologies and procedures. In addition, site visitors have open access to numerous articles detailing specific aspects of the service such as "Dental Lab Dentures You'll Love" and "Your Personalized Professional Dental Lab."
"Our aim is to help dentists and clinicians maintain, improve or expand their services without the hassles encountered with ordinary lab outlets," stated Holovchenko. "And since our operations are based in the United States, our clients can rely on relevant assistance and a quick turnaround with every order."
"We developed our dental services to be flexible enough to accommodate the needs and preferences of a wide variety of dentists," Holovchenko continued. "However, we also follow strict procedures and insist on high levels of quality in everything from our materials to our machinery and the technicians who operate our equipment. With this commitment to quality, we can help dentists take full advantage of the opportunities of lab outsourcing."

Owners of 2010 and 2011 Ford SYNC-equipped vehicles that are Traffic, Directions and Information (TDI)-capable can now download a free smartphone app designed to help get them where they need to go with less hassle.
Ford launched the SYNC Destinations mobile app today for Apple iPhone, Apple iPad and Android-based devices, with BlackBerry smartphones coming soon. Available at no cost, the app gives users of TDI services mobile access to a host of navigation and traffic information specifically designed to make any trip easier.
"SYNC Destinations leverages the power of your smartphone to manage a user's SYNC Services account and to plan ahead, sending destination locations to your car, and knowing what's happening on the road ahead of you before you even get behind the wheel," said Dave Gersabeck, SYNC TDI product manager.
With the SYNC Destinations app, TDI users have an exclusive on-the-go link to their cloud-based SYNC Services account on http://www.syncmyride.com, where they can add, save and manage "Saved Points" or addresses. A maximum of 25 Saved Points can be accessed through the app. Locations added via SYNC Destinations are immediately accessible through SYNC Services once in the vehicle, with turn-by-turn directions delivered to the car only a few simple voice commands away.
"With SYNC Destinations, you can be standing in line for a coffee, making impromptu plans with a friend or sitting at the ballgame, and conveniently add a new address to your Saved Points - without ever stopping to log into your account at a personal computer," adds Gersabeck.
With SYNC Destinations, SYNC TDI users can also better plan the when and where of their commutes, accessing real-time traffic information, reliable traffic forecasts and other time-saving features powered by INRIX, a leading provider of traffic information and driver services. Key benefits include:
-- Traffic maps with real-time speed, accident and incident information for
all highways, interstates, arterials and city streets in 126
metropolitan areas across North America
-- Reliable traffic forecasts that predict how travel times are expected to
change over time, based on sophisticated analysis of current traffic
conditions, day of the week, season, holidays and related days, current
and forecast weather, accidents and road construction, as well as other
unique local events such as school schedules, sports games and concerts
-- Fastest routes based on current and expected traffic conditions as well
as recommended departure times, expected travel times and ETAs that make
navigating to daily destinations, whether across town or cross-country,
easier than ever
-- Easy look-up of addresses for new destinations through local business
search and address book integration
"SYNC Destinations is an easy-to-use mobile tool that gives busy, on-the-go SYNC users the flexibility to search and save locations for quick access in the car, plus, with features such as predictive traffic, users can take some of the guesswork out of their daily trips by preplanning the best estimated time of departure to get around town quickly and easily," said Gersabeck.
Also specific to SYNC Destinations is a 5 mph lockout feature, which automatically halts the app from running on a smartphone once it is detected to be traveling in excess of 5 mph, helping drivers stay focused on the task of driving.
Ford, Lincoln and Mercury owners of 2010 and 2011 SYNC-equipped, TDI-capable vehicles can download the SYNC Destinations app for free from the Apple App Store and Android Market. To activate it, the user has to enter his or her http://www.syncmyride.com login credentials. New Verizon Home Monitoring and Control Service Will Make the Concept of the 'Connected Home' a Reality
Service, Being Tested in New Jersey, Offers Home Owners Anytime, Anywhere Access to Lights, Thermostats, Appliances and Monitoring Systems, via Smartphones, Computers and FiOS TV
BASKING RIDGE, N.J., Dec. 29, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- You're miles away from home when you realize that you've forgotten to lock the front door. With a new, fully integrated and customizable home monitoring and control service developed by Verizon, you won't have to panic and frantically call a friend or neighbor. The service, now in the trial phase and expected to be available in the first half of 2011, will enable customers to lock doors remotely; see what's going on at home via networked cameras; and set, adjust and control lights, smart thermostats and appliances -- all by using a smartphone or a computer or through FiOS TV.
Verizon will showcase the new service, Home Monitoring and Control, and many other new technologies, at the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, from Jan. 6-9. Verizon's demo will be available in the press room and blogger lounge, located in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center and will be among the demonstrations in Verizon's booth (LVCC, South Hall #35215) on the show floor.
Beginning in January, a pilot program for Home Monitoring and Control will be conducted in New Jersey. The homes selected for the program will be outfitted with an energy reader, smart appliance switches and thermostats, a smart power strip, a smart door and window locks, motion sensors, an advanced pan-and-tilt camera, and a fixed indoor and outdoor camera.
"What we'll be testing in these homes is just the beginning," said Eric Bruno, vice president of product management for Verizon. "We're giving customers a remote control for their homes that they can use to cut CO2 emissions and their energy bills and give them anytime, anywhere access and control of their homes. The concept of the connected home has been discussed for many years, and now Verizon's high-IQ networks are making that concept a reality by converting customers' homes into bandwidth-rich ecosystems that enable a wide variety of customizable options."
High-IQ Networks Like FiOS Are Platforms for Innovation
Since launching FiOS, Verizon has pushed the boundaries of TV and broadband speed by introducing innovations that have spurred the industry's evolution.
Verizon is the only major provider to offer ultra-high-speed symmetrical Internet service to customers, and earlier this year the company began offering 150/35 megabits per second Internet service, the fastest speeds available on a mass scale. Consumers can choose from various FiOS Internet downstream and upstream options including 15/5 Mbps, 25/25 Mbps, 35/35 Mbps and 50/20 Mbps.
Verizon also offers a Media Manager, available to all HD customers, that enables them to access PC-based personal photos, videos and music - as well as search and enjoy online videos from YouTube, blip.tv and Dailymotion. DVR customers can remotely access their DVRs from any broadband connection or Internet-enabled phone. And in November, Verizon launched Flex View, a new feature that allows customers to take their video content with them and purchase, rent or watch videos on TV, online and on select mobile devices.
Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE, NASDAQ: VZ), headquartered in New York, is a global leader in delivering broadband and other wireless and wireline communications services to mass market, business, government and wholesale customers. Verizon Wireless operates America's most reliable wireless network, serving more than 93 million customers nationwide. Unemployed for Three Years, Man Releases Music CD to Save the Family Home
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Dec. 29, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Paul Ross Hensley, 48, an unemployed sheet metal worker and father of two from Sacramento, California, is hoping he can save the family home with the release of a CD on Dec. 31 filled with his songs about the struggles he and many other Americans are facing in today's sinking economy.
His journey to save the "American dream" through song and not let his home slip into foreclosure has already been featured on a Capital Public Radio program on the battles facing the long-term middle-aged unemployed.
Paul lost his job as a 26-year veteran sheet metal worker for Local 162 at the start of the recession in 2007. With the economy plunging and construction coming to a drastic halt, Paul and his wife Cindy, a legal assistant, needed to find new ways to survive in the slow economy.
"When I got laid off, the union's list of out-of-work of men was over 200. My wife and I knew this problem was bigger than us and we had to do something to make some extra money," Paul said. Their biggest fear is that they will lose the home they bought in 1996 after years of hard work to save up the down payment. By making huge family sacrifices, including having no health insurance, the Hensleys have managed to keep their home - for now - using Paul's unemployment benefits and Cindy's income.
The album "Destitute Legend," with many of the songs devoted to the struggles facing so many American families today, was written over the three years Paul was laid off. During those years, his wife took full charge of creating this late-in-life career as a songwriter and began learning the ropes of managing and promoting Paul. Now that the album is finished and the release date is set for Dec. 31, Paul is hoping to sell his music on iTunes and generate enough money to help pay for his mortgage and keep his house.
"I need to do this now more than ever because my unemployment benefits are going to be cut," Paul said. Although the jobless benefits have been extended for him for two months, the job outlook is not optimistic for Paul in 2011. Once the benefits run out, Paul and his family, along with many other Americans, soon will be destitute with no unemployment benefits.

Target Marks the New Year by Offering Parents a Chance to Share Birth Announcements with the World
Retailer will feature birth announcements submitted via Facebook in Times Square and L.A.
MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 29, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- To ring in 2011, Target® (NYSE: TGT) is offering parents everywhere an exciting way to share their big news -- the arrival of a new baby -- with the world through its Big Baby Billboard, an interactive online experience that includes an outdoor presence in New York City and Los Angeles. For a limited time, parents can visit the Target Baby® Facebook page to create a playful digital birth announcement that can be shared online with family and friends. Target will then randomly select birth announcements for display in New York City's Times Square -- the meeting place of the world -- and on a larger-than-life magnetic board in Los Angeles.
"Technology plays an important role in how Target's guests share and receive information and our Target Baby Facebook page serves as an excellent resource for new and expectant parents," said Will Setliff, vice president of marketing, Target. "We're excited to tap into our guests' online behaviors to provide them with a fun, relevant way to celebrate the birth of their child -- whether that's with friends and family, on an oversized magnetic billboard in Los Angeles or in the heart of our nation's biggest city."
Parents can visit Facebook.com/TargetBaby to create their Big Baby Billboard announcement -- free of charge -- by clicking on the "Share the News" tab and entering information such as their child's name, birth date and birth weight. Using the likeness of colorful children's refrigerator magnets, the innovative application will generate a digital announcement that can be shared via Facebook, Twitter and e-mail. Once created, parents can submit their child's Big Baby Billboard announcement to be featured in New York City's Times Square or on an outdoor display in Los Angeles.
Target takes over Times Square
In New York City's Times Square, a choreographed series of Big Baby Billboard announcements submitted via the Target Baby Facebook page will be broadcast on the ABC, NASDAQ and Reuters billboards. Coinciding with the celebration of the new year, these 30-second videos, featuring fresh-faced babies and holiday wishes from Target, will air 10 times per hour, starting Dec. 31, 2010 through Jan. 6, 2011.
15 minutes of fame in L.A.
The Los Angeles-based Big Baby Billboard will feature a 25-by-30-foot display at the Hollywood and Highland Center. Shoppers will be greeted by a gigantic magnetic board on which workers will assemble colorful letters to create a billboard-sized birth announcement for each entry selected. Once the announcement is in place, a camera will capture a photo of the board. Photos will then be uploaded to the Target Baby Facebook page where parents can download and print their child's big moment. Baby announcements at the Big Baby Billboard in Los Angeles will be updated every 10 to 15 minutes, generating up to 50 keepsakes every day. The event begins Jan. 1 at 10 a.m. PST and runs through Jan. 5 during mall hours.

HONG KONG, Dec. 29, 2010 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The 3D shock from James Cameron's Avatar last year ushered in a new era of 3D technology that shook the film industry. The movie left patrons with a little regret that you can only put yourself in a 3D theater with heavy 3D glasses to watch a 3D movie.
Now DealExtreme has brought a brand new solution to this hassle. The 3D MP5 player PM5950, which is manufactured by Aigo Portable Digital Technology Co., Ltd, is soon to be available on DealExtreme.com. The device is the world's first naked eye 3D portable media player. You can carry it to enjoy vivid 3D movies anywhere and share it with your friends at any time. Its high resolution LCD screen enables you to switch between 2D and 3D mode to enhance the user experience. Having been famous for its low prices and free shipping delivery, DealExtreme will sell it at a price around $230.
As one of the leading online shopping websites, DealExtreme has a wide selection of electronic gadgets, most of which were manufactured by factories in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, China. In order to keep a top position in the B2C industry, specifically in providing various cutting-edge electronics gadgets, DealExtreme is seeking partnership with various branded companies, of which Aigo Portable Digital Technology Co., Ltd is a candidate.
Having successfully cooperated with some big names like PayPal and eBay, DealExtreme now realizes that it is crucial to have some local high tech companies join its supplier chain. These companies can bring most advanced products in a quick way to the product lines and this is quite an advantage when competing with opponents. There are already more than a hundred websites that follow DealExtreme's business model in the past 2 years in hope of copying DealExtreme's success, though none of them was able to reach the volume of DealExtreme.
With the large amount of users DealExtreme has acquired in the past years, Aigo chooses DealExtreme to make its first debut of the world's first naked eye 3D portable media player. Aigo believes this is a win-win and could bring more attention to the product. Aigo also wants to present more cutting products on DealExtreme to reach the world. It is highly expected that their cooperation can benefit DealExtreme's users and hopefully more "WOW" will be heard.
Privacy Push Will Impact Geolocation Sector, Attorney Says
-LeClairRyan spatial law expert urges industry to educate policymakers and prepare for greater scrutiny
RICHMOND, Va., Dec. 29, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Efforts to protect consumers' privacy on the Internet are likely to impact companies that collect, use or distribute geolocation data, said LeClairRyan attorney Kevin D. Pomfret, a leading advisor in the rapidly developing fields of spatial law and technology. As a result, businesses should step forward to educate Congress and executive agencies such as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) about the breadth and scope of location-based technologies, as well as the industry's enormous potential, Pomfret said. In addition, the veteran attorney recommended that companies begin to identify and protect any geolocation data they collect or use that could be associated with an individual.
A number of privacy-related initiatives are currently underway in Washington that attempt to address geolocation, noted Pomfret, a Richmond-based partner in LeClairRyan and executive director of the Centre for Spatial Law and Policy. For example, Rep. Bobby L. Rush's privacy protection bill, the so-called "Best Practices Act of 2010," cites "precise geolocation information" as sensitive data subject to greater protection, and similar legislation is expected in the near future. In addition, the FTC staff recently stated in its 123-page report, Protecting Consumer Privacy in an Era of Rapid Change, that precise geolocation information is sensitive and subject to greater protection. The Department of Commerce also issued a report in December that cites location as a privacy concern.
As noted by Pomfret, GPS location-aware smart phones and other devices already collect enormous amounts of data about where people go, who they are and what they do. The level of available detail--and potential privacy risks--will only increase with time, compounding existing concerns about such issues as "cyber-stalking," Fourth Amendment privacy rights and more, he said. "Clearly, location is becoming an increasingly important component of our daily lives," the attorney explained, "and legitimate privacy concerns do exist."
However, Pomfret noted, there are as many different types of location data as there are ways to collect and use the data. "The geolocation industry must educate lawmakers and regulators about the many ways location data can be collected and used in order to create a fully informed discussion about the geolocation industry and the technology," he said. "For example, should an individual's location on a public street be protected in the same way as that individual's medical records or bank-account information?" Overly broad legislation could stymie the numerous important governmental and societal applications currently being developed based upon location. These include using location data for crisis and emergency response, public transportation and economic development, Pomfret said.
In order to fully understand how proposed regulations will affect them, geolocation companies should begin to identify what spatial data assets they have throughout their organizations and how that information is aggregated, Pomfret added. "Increasingly, companies that do not consider themselves 'geolocation companies' have databases that connect customers, employees and vendors to a location, often at a particular time," he said. "Depending upon the outcome of the current privacy discussion in Washington, such information could become subject to regulation if laws are not carefully drafted.
"While it is an exciting time for geolocation firms, with new applications and business models being developed as location technology becomes mainstream, the industry can expect greater scrutiny as it matures and becomes successful," Pomfret continued. "Consequently, it is important for all segments of the industry to be both actively engaged in what is happening and prepared for potential outcomes."
