ARLINGTON, Texas, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau, in conjunction with former Dallas Cowboys great Drew Pearson, released a new football trivia application for iPhones and iPhone Touches. The winner with the highest score will receive two tickets to The Big Game on February 6th in Arlington, and will be chosen on January 24, 2011. In the event of a tie, the winner will be drawn from a pool of highest scorers. The app will continue to be live after the drawing for trivia lovers, but will not involve additional prizes.
Consisting of 525 questions, the trivia app is timed and consists of questions from all areas of football, not only Dallas Cowboys. The game may be played multiple times, but only the first score will count towards the win. Multiple pictures of Arlington and the City of Arlington are embedded within the application, along with links to http://www.arlington.org and http://www.drewpearson88.net.
Drew Pearson, known as "Mr. Clutch," began his career with the Cowboys in 1973 as a free agent and played until 1983 with the number "88. "He is perhaps best known for catching the 'Hail Mary' pass from Roger Staubach, one of the most famous football plays of all time, in a 1975 playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings. He was named "All Pro" three years, played in the Pro Bowl three times and helped the team to three Super Bowl appearances with a win in 1978.
"We're excited to be working with one of our football heroes on this application," says Jay Burress, President & CEO of the Arlington CVB. "He's been a great partner to our CVB in the last year, and it's a pleasure to work with him as we get the Arlington name out."
To download the application to an iPhone or iPhone Touch, go to iTunes and search "Drew Pearson." A Droid version will be in development for the 2011 football season.
The application was developed by YOUniversal Ideas in conjunction with WhamMobile and the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau. Kristi Scales, sidelines reporter for Dallas Cowboys radio, authored the questions.

Casio Leverages CES 2011 to Usher in New Era in Digital Imaging
The Casio TRYX® Boasts Radically New Form Factor and Raises Bar for Style and Innovation
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Casio America, Inc. and its parent company, Casio Computer Co., Ltd., today unveiled TRYX®, a revolutionary new camera that will allow consumers to stand out and be noticed. Strikingly different than any other camera or camcorder on the market today, TRYX impresses with a distinctive, variable frame design which knows no bounds. With TRYX, consumers can do more and be prepared to capture their photographic lives in ways they were never able to before.
Thanks to its super thin (.59-inches thick), variable frame design, TRYX can adapt to fit the user's preferred shooting style or to help them capture an image from just about any angle. Users can hold the camera horizontally, in a traditional point-and-shoot style, or flip out the rotating, three-inch, touch-screen LCD and swivel the body to experience countless other positions. The frame rotates 360-degrees and can be adjusted so that the body can act as a tripod, allowing TRYX to stand on its own, or the LCD screen can be rotated up to 270-degrees so that users can perfect their own self portrait and see themselves in the frame. The body can also rotate so that the camera can hang from a hook, doorknob or other surface. The Casio TRYX's body can also be adjusted so that users can record full-HD, 1080 video (30fps) with the traditional feel of a dedicated camcorder, either in a left or right-handed grip.
High-Speed and High-Performance
At the heart of TRYX is a 12.1 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor which will help capture stunning images thanks to its enhanced sensitivity and low-light performance. The TRYX's CMOS sensor is also coupled with dual core processors as well as Casio's stateoftheart EXILIM® ENGINE HS, which add significant processing speed and enhance the overall imaging experience.
Expressing One's Creativity
TRYX is fully-loaded with a range of functions, such as Slide Panorama and slow-motion video recording, which users can take advantage of to boost their creativity and truly express themselves through images. With Slide Panorama, users can effortlessly capture 360-degree panoramic images, and with slow-motion video, users can record events that are ordinarily too fast for the eye to see, at speeds up to 240 fps (432x320). TRYX also incorporates Casio's revolutionary HDR-ART technology, which gives users the ability to effortlessly transform any photo from ordinary to extraordinary, all with just the touch of a button. HDR-ART works by combining continuous shots with differing exposures and performing highly-precise image analysis to locally change the contrast and level of color saturation. Users can select from three different processing levels to suit their artistic tastes and produce results that are guaranteed to impress.
Empowering the Fingertip
Housed within TRYX's LCD screen (460K pixels) is the camera's intuitive touch-screen interface. Through the LCD, users can activate TRYX's touch-shutter, which can focus on an area or subject in the frame and capture the photo, just by touching the screen. TRYX's advanced self-timer can also be activated using the touch-screen LCD. Featuring a clever little twist, the self-timer can be triggered using the camera's built-in motion sensor. Users can configure the self-timer using their finger to designate an area in the frame on the LCD where TRYX needs to monitor for motion. When motion is detected in the specified area, the self-timer will be triggered.
Ultra-Wide Angle Lens Makes it Easy
With a standard lens, consumers are forced to sacrifice what they can actually capture, as they can't fit exactly what they want in the frame. That's no longer an issue with TRYX, as the camera offers an impressive, ultra-wide-angle, 21mm lens. The 21mm ultra-wide-angle lens is also outfitted with Casio's state-of-the-art High-Speed SR Zoom technology. Significantly more advanced than traditional digital zooms, High-Speed SR Zoom captures multiple still images at high-speed and combines them to produce sharp and clear photos. Image quality can be maintained up to two times the range of the focal length.
Social Media Simplified
Casio also preloaded the TRYX with software that facilitates the uploading of images and video directly to the Internet, including many of today's most popular social networking platforms. Users can simply select which photos and videos they would like uploaded from the camera beforehand, and upon connecting it to a computer, the files will automatically be sent to each specified destination.
The Casio TRYX will be available April 2011 for $249.99.

"SexyForever.com is the online home for my latest book, Sexy Forever. Never before has weight loss after 40 been made this easy. This fully interactive site combines all the features I have always wanted to offer," said Suzanne.

Suzanne has done the research to solve her own body issue problems -- especially as her weight first crept up on her in her 40s. Once she understood and then addressed her hormonal issues, she lost the necessary pounds and thought she was on top of it for life. Then, several years later, she experienced the "toxicity" wake-up call when she was diagnosed with breast cancer and decided to embrace organic foods, rid her home of chemical-laden household products, and eliminate stressors that were weakening her. For Sexy Forever, Suzanne has interviewed numerous weight loss specialists, medical experts, nutritionists, and allergists. One key discovery? Suzanne came to understand that food allergies and intolerances also affect our weight; as a result, she took a simple test revealing that she has an intolerance to eggs. She took them off the menu and dropped 12 pounds in two weeks. Consumers can learn more about their toxic burden, potential food sensitivities, and hormone imbalances by taking Suzanne's free, 'Sexy IQ' quiz at SexyForever.com.

Utah Public Service Commission Approves CenturyLink-Qwest Merger
Combined Company Will Serve More Than 600,000 Access Lines in the State
MONROE, La. and DENVER,Jan. 5, 2011/PRNewswire/ -- The Utah Public Service Commission (PSC) has unanimously approved the pending merger between CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) and Qwest Communications (NYSE: Q) with no additional conditions.
The PSC voted to approve the merger during its Jan. 4 meeting in Salt Lake City. The commission conducted a substantive review of the transaction, including agreements on wholesale matters the companies reached with several competitive carriers in Utah and other states.
As part of the approval process, the combined company committed to investing a minimum of $25 million in broadband infrastructure in Utah over five years.
When the merger is completed, which is expected in the first half of 2011, the combined company will serve more than 600,000 access lines throughout the state.
"This approval recognizes the benefits of our merger and that it is in the best interest of our residential and business customers, as well as our employees, throughout Utah," said Jerry Fenn, Qwest Utah president. "We appreciate the diligence of the commission and its staff throughout this process."
"During its review, the Utah PSC determined the merger is in the public interest and that additional conditions proposed by other companies were not necessary," said Kenny Wyatt, CenturyLink's South Central Region president. "Gaining the Utah commission's approval is another key milestone toward completing our merger. We are looking forward to bringing a wider variety of communications services and greater broadband availability to Utahans in the future than either company could offer alone."
MERGER UPDATE
-- Including Utah, 17 states and the District of Columbia have approved the
proposed merger.
-- The companies also must receive approval from four additional states and
the Federal Communications Commission.
-- CenturyLink and Qwest already have reached agreements with commission
staffs in Arizona, Minnesota, Oregon and Washington. The companies also
have agreements with Integra Telecom, Cox Communications and other
competitive local exchange carriers, and the U.S. Department of Defense
in Arizona, Colorado, Utah and Washington.
-- In October, the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and the
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) agreed that the
merger is in the public interest.
-- Shareholders from both companies approved the merger in August.
-- The Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission cleared the
transaction in July after determining there were no antitrust concerns.
-- As of Sept. 30, 2010, CenturyLink served approximately 2.4 million
broadband customers, 6.6 million access lines and 588,000 satellite
video subscribers. On the same date, Qwest served approximately 2.9
million broadband customers, 9.1 million access lines, 960,000 video
subscribers and more than one million wireless customers. The
combination will create a robust 180,000-route-mile national fiber

Microsoft Announces Support of System on a Chip Architectures From Intel, AMD, and ARM for Next Version of Windows
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011/PRNewswire/ -- Microsoft Corp. today announced at 2011 International CES that the next version of Windows will support System on a Chip (SoC) architectures, including ARM-based systems from partners NVIDIA Corp., Qualcomm Inc. and Texas Instruments Inc. On the x86 architecture, Intel Corporation and AMD continue their work on low-power SoC designs that fully support Windows, including support for native x86 applications. SoC architectures will fuel significant innovation across the hardware spectrum when coupled with the depth and breadth of the Windows platform.
At today's announcement, Microsoft demonstrated the next version of Windows running on new SoC platforms from Intel running on x86 architecture and from NVIDIA, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments on ARM architecture. The technology demonstration included Windows client support across a range of scenarios, such as hardware-accelerated graphics and media playback, hardware-accelerated Web browsing with the latest Microsoft Internet Explorer, USB device support, printing and other features customers have come to expect from their computing experience. Microsoft Office running natively on ARM also was shown as a demonstration of the full depth and breadth of Windows platform capabilities on ARM architecture.
Windows will continue its industry-leading support across the widest possible set of devices, delivering the breadth and choice that customers demand. Intel and AMD continue to evolve and improve the x86 platforms, including new low-power systems, and advance new designs such as the recently announced 2nd Generation Intel® Core(TM) processor family and AMD's Fusion accelerated processing units (APUs). NVIDIA, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments are joining Microsoft to provide ARM-based designs for the first time.
"With today's announcement, we're showing the flexibility and resiliency of Windows through the power of software and a commitment to world-class engineering. We continue to evolve Windows to deliver the functionality customers demand across the widest variety of hardware platforms and form factors," said Steven Sinofsky, president of the Windows and Windows Live Division at Microsoft.
SoC architectures consolidate the major components of a computing device onto a single package of silicon. This consolidation enables smaller, thinner devices while reducing the amount of power required for the device, increasing battery life and making possible always-on and always-connected functionality. With support of SoC in the next version of the Windows client, Microsoft is enabling industry partners to design and deliver the widest range of hardware ever.
Founded in 1975, Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) is the worldwide leader in software, services and solutions that help people and businesses realize their full potential.
Ford Mustang Owners Next for SYNC AppLink and Unmatched Voice Control, Access to Mobile Apps
DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
-- 2012 Ford Mustang owners are next in line for SYNC® AppLink, the
industry-first software application that gives SYNC users hands-free
voice control of their smartphone apps
-- Mustang will be the first vehicle with AppLink integrated with Ford's
optional Voice-Activated Navigation System, adding enhanced access
-- SYNC AppLink for Mustang will first be demonstrated at the Pepcom
Digital Experience, held in Las Vegas tonight, the day before the start
of the 2011 International CES
Ford will launch SYNC® AppLink next as a factory-installed feature for the 2012 Ford Mustang. AppLink is the free software program that gives SYNC users voice control of apps stored on their smartphone.
Mustang will be the first vehicle that will offer AppLink with the standard SYNC interface, as well as be integrated into the optional Voice-Activated Navigation System, providing the additional convenience of an 8-inch touch screen for control.
"Mustang is an exciting next addition to the AppLink portfolio, giving Ford the ability to offer more of our customers a smarter solution to using apps while in the car," said Doug VanDagens, director of Ford Connected Services. "We continue to move quickly and migrate smart technologies across our vehicle portfolio that deliver solutions customers are demanding."
Just a few weeks ago, Ford went live with AppLink as a download on http://www.syncmyride.com, available exclusively to 2011 Ford Fiesta owners for popular mobile apps, including Pandora internet radio, Stitcher news radio and OpenBeak.
Adding AppLink compatibility as factory-installed content to the iconic Mustang puts Ford further out front in the race to integrate smartphone apps into the car and shows the company's commitment to offer advanced in-car connectivity services and features to a widening range of vehicle owners.
Recent studies indicate 46 percent of adult smartphone users have apps on their phones and 36 percent of those admit to using those apps while commuting.
Mustang owners have historically shown a strong desire for connectivity in the car, with nearly 75 percent of Mustang buyers opting for the SYNC system at purchase. And for those who also opt for the Voice-Activated Navigation System, AppLink will integrate app access and control through the system's 8-inch touch screen.
"Our Voice-Activated Navigation System integration allows us to enrich the AppLink experience even further, giving customers an industry-first combination of voice control and touch-screen access to the apps stored on their mobile phones," said Julius Marchwicki, Ford SYNC product manager.
Codeveloped with Ford, the Clarion Navigation System available on Mustang is loaded with a number of features and functions designed to provide customers a superior level of connectivity and information, including an extensive set of navigation tools as well as up-to-the-minute news about weather, traffic, fuel prices, movie listing and more through Sirius Travel Link(TM).
Cool infotainment features are also abundant with the Ford Navigation System, including HD Radio(TM) technology, a digital jukebox hard-drive that can store up to 2,400 songs and easy access and useful screen displays for SIRIUS XM Satellite Radio. And since the Navigation System is factory-installed, it also works seamlessly with SYNC.
The navigation screen menu for SYNC apps first lists available factory-installed system apps such as 911 Assist(TM), Vehicle Health Report and SYNC Services through Traffic, Directions and Information. Tap the menu subset for Mobile Applications, and the Navigation System touch screen will then list the current SYNC-enabled apps found on the SYNC-paired smartphone that are ready for launch by voice command.
AppLink is currently compatible with Android and BlackBerry devices, and with Apple iPhone coming in early 2011. Current availability of SYNC-enabled apps:
Pandora
Apple iPhone: Coming early 2011
Android: Available now (V1.5.3 or higher)
BlackBerry: Available now (Version 1.1.6 or higher)
Stitcher
Apple iPhone: Coming early 2011
Android: Coming early 2011
BlackBerry: Late availability
OpenBeak
BlackBerry: Available now (Version 1.4 or higher)
Additional SYNC-enabled apps, smartphone integrations and new model SYNC-equipped vehicles ready for AppLink are coming soon, said Marchwicki.

MORGAN HILL, Calif., Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Anritsu Company introduces the MT8222B BTS Master, its next-generation handheld base station analyzer that supports 4G standards now being deployed, as well as installed 2G/3G networks. Combining the inherent advantages of the BTS Master platform with new measurement capability, the MT8222B provides field engineers and technicians with a lightweight, handheld analyzer that can accurately and quickly measure all the key wireless standards, including LTE, WiMAX, WCDMA/HSDPA, CDMA/EV-DO and GSM/EDGE.
A 20 MHz demodulation capability has been designed into the platform of the MT8222B BTS Master, allowing the instrument to measure LTE and WiMAX signals. Additionally, the MT8222B features a 30 MHz Zero-Span IF output for external demodulation of virtually any other wideband signal. For comprehensive receiver testing, a Vector Signal Generator option is available that covers 400 MHz to 6 GHz and can generate two simultaneously modulated signals, plus noise.
Accurate two-port cable and antenna analysis from 400 MHz to 6 GHz can be conducted with the MT8222B BTS Master. All key measurements - including return loss, cable loss, VSWR and distance-to-fault (DTF) - can be made with the compact analyzer. It can also measure gain, isolation, and insertion loss, to verify sector-to-antenna isolation.
The MT8222B BTS Master also has spectrum analysis capability typically found in a benchtop instrument. In spectrum analyzer mode, the instrument has a wide frequency range of 150 kHz to 7.1 GHz, low phase noise of typically -100 dBc/Hz @ 10 kHz offset, low displayed average noise level (DANL) of typically -163 dBm in 1 Hz RBW, and wide dynamic range of >95 dB in 1 Hz RBW.
A number of options are available to configure the MT8222B BTS Master to suit the specific measurement requirements of any field test application. The MT8222B BTS Master features Anritsu's Master Software Tools (MST) and Line Sweep Tools (LST) comprehensive data management and analysis software that save significant time when generating reports.
Designed specifically for the field, the MT8222B BTS Master measures only 315 x 211 x 94 (mm), weighs 4.9 kg, and is battery operated. It incorporates Anritsu's field-proven design, so the MT8222B BTS Master can withstand the harsh environments in which it is used.
The MT8222B BTS Master has a delivery of 6 to 8 weeks ARO.

TI DLP® 1080p 3D Projectors Now Shipping and Widely Available
High Definition 3D projectors enable ultra-crisp images ideal for cinemas, homes and classrooms
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Instruments (TI) (NYSE: TXN) DLP® Products makes viewing quality, High Definition (HD) projection in 3D at home a reality with the announcement of multiple brands shipping 1080p 3D projectors. 3D 1080p from DLP provides consumers the ability to be immersed in film-quality images for everything from movies to gaming to sports, all powered by the dynamic DLP chip structure. Brands including Samsung and Sharp are showcasing the current 1080p 3D systems, which are now available for purchase, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this week.
The 1080p format provides viewers with a quality, HD picture that is characterized by crisp images and cleaner, sharper detail than traditional set-ups, adding to the consumer viewing experience. Additionally, these newest models from Samsung and Sharp have been designed to handle all of the latest 3D formats, including Blu-ray, to provide consumers with greater flexibility when connecting with 3D content.
"3D displays from DLP continue to offer superior color quality and reliability, which is why consumers continue to choose our projection solutions, from cinema houses to neighborhood homes and everything in between," said Roger Carver, Manager, DLP Front Projection. "The innovation of the DLP chip design is what makes DLP the only one able to produce 3D in a single projector solution, and the reason consumers will continue to see innovations from us and our customers."
1080p from DLP brings bold contrast ratios, inky black levels, vibrant color and placement flexibility, all with the filter-free, consistent color, and unique mirrored chip design that has made DLP famous. One new application of this technology can be seen in the Mitsubishi 92" DLP HDTV being shown at CES this year. From this television, which is nearly 1/30 the size of a cinema screen, to devices that fit in the palm of your hand, to projectors that power IMAX®, DLP continues to innovate and deliver the best in projection technology.
Last year, "Avatar" started the tidal wave of 3D viewing experiences that has since spilled into the classroom. Utilizing the same Academy Award-winning DLP projector technology for cinema productions, the company has extended its leadership in 3D cinema technology to projectors for schools as well. School districts across the U.S. and beyond are incorporating 3D learning into lessons, providing an engaging learning environment for teachers and students. The ability of DLP technology to provide both 2D and 3D images in a single projector offer enormous cost savings and opportunities to schools.
DLP technology's ability to fill large screens while still maintaining contrast ratios, brightness, and color quality, combined with the immersive experience that 3D provides, are reasons that now more than 400 3D-Ready projectors from 30 different DLP Products' manufacturers are available on the worldwide market. Adding further fodder to the prevalence of 3D adoption, Pacific Media Associates (PMA) notes the worldwide front projector market for 3D-enabled models will grow from about 1.0 million during 2010 to nearly 5.4 million in 2014 (via PMA, August 9, 2010: http://www.pacificmediaassociates.com/press/item.php?id=24).

NVIDIA Brings New Mobile Media and Gaming Experiences to Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE Network
Close Collaboration Brings Multiplayer, Cross-Device Gaming to the Nation's Fastest and Most Advanced 4G Wireless Network
LAS VEGAS and BASKING RIDGE, N.J., Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --NVIDIA and Verizon Wireless today announced that they will demonstrate at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) how mobile devices equipped with the NVIDIA® Tegra(TM) 2 mobile superchip can provide consumers with a wide range of new media and gaming capabilities when utilizing Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network.
The companies will show how mobile devices can offer home-quality media and gaming content using the high-bandwidth, low-latency 4G LTE network. Consumers will now be able to experience multiplayer gaming across different types of devices, ranging from Tegra 2-powered tablets to desktop PCs.
Tegra 2-powered tablets will also allow consumers to stream 1080p videos; view content, such as magazines; and discover and download applications through an advanced 3D user interface using 4G LTE's high-bandwidth streaming and real-time latency and the Tegra 2 processor. Tegra 2 features a dual-core CPU, ultra low-power (ULP) NVIDIA GeForce® GPU and 1080p HD video processor.
These new capabilities build on the technology collaboration that NVIDIA and Verizon Wireless have developed over the past year. The companies had previously demonstrated a full 1080p HD Internet experience on tablets over a pre-commercial LTE network.
"Last year, we showed the first 1080p video stream over LTE with NVIDIA," said Brian Higgins, executive director of LTE ecosystem development at Verizon Wireless. "That was just the start. Tegra is bringing never-before-seen experiences to mobile devices, and we're confident developers and ultimately consumers will see the benefits of our 4G LTE network."
"Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE network provides the bandwidth to drive a rich trove of content to your mobile device," said Michael Rayfield, general manager of the mobile business at NVIDIA. "Teaming this network with Tegra delivers the freedom to watch and play what you want, when you want."
The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network, launched in December 2010, is the fastest, most advanced 4G network in the United States, providing speeds up to 10 times faster than Verizon Wireless' 3G network. Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network reaches one-third of all Americans, with plans to expand the network to the company's entire 3G coverage area over the next three years.
This content demonstration is a result of collaboration fostered at Verizon Wireless' LTE Innovation Center. The LTE Innovation Center, established in 2008, provides an environment for diverse companies to work together to develop innovative products that leverage 4G LTE technology.
The Tegra 2-enabled mobile content and gaming capabilities will be highlighted from Jan. 6-9 in Verizon Wireless' booth (#35216 in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center) as well as in NVIDIA's booth (South Hall 3, Booth #31431) at CES. Super-Thin LGA 3G Module Enables Broadband and Global Connectivity for a New Class of Connected Devices
LAS VEGAS and LEUVEN, Belgium, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Companies exhibiting at CES have no other option but Option when they want to quickly, affordably and effectively add mobile broadband wireless connectivity and cellular voice to their consumer and enterprise devices.
Option (Euronext: OPTI; OTC: OPNVY), the award-winningpioneer in embedded broadband wireless solutions, today debuted the world's smallest module to combine GSM/HSPA, CDMA/EV-DO, GPS/ GLONASS and circuit-switched voice, all on a component the size of a postage stamp and as thin as a five-cent coin or a Euro.
The second-generation GTM601/GTM609 modules will power a new breed of consumer and business devices that are ultra-thin, super-fast and globally ready. The modules provide makers of smartphones, tablets, handheld industrial terminals, mobile healthcare devices, digital signage, interactive kiosks, security systems, vehicle infotainment systems and other connected devices with a cost-effective, turnkey solution for adding voice and mobile broadband to their products.
Device manufacturers can easily integrate the modules with their software platforms and applications to deliver the highest quality experience for consumers and businesses. With built in support for Windows, Android, MeeGo and Linux, as well as deep customization, integration and certification services, Option can take devices from concept to production-ready prototypes in as little as three months.
Key features of the GTM601/GTM609 modules include:
-- LGA (Land Grid Array) design allowing a very slim product -- 26.8 mm by
31.8 mm by only 2 mm thin -- with excellent heat dissipation, enabling
3G connectivity in super-thin form factors without sacrificing feature
completeness or robustness.
-- Worldwide compatibility -- support for GSM/HSPA and CDMA/EV-DO in the
world's most widely used spectrum bands, assuring 3G broadband speeds
and 2G/2.5G worldwide connectivity.
-- Reliable GPS and GLONASS support for applications that require worldwide
location information. For example, a delivery business can use the
GTM601/GTM609 to continuously track the location of its trucks and
teams. This location tracking, with automatic time and location stamping
to enable accurate tracking, would allow the business to SMS its
next-destination customers that their packages are on the way for
delivery.
-- True circuit-switched GSM and CDMA voice service for reliable,
high-quality voice connectivity in devices such as smartphones,
interactive digital signage and kiosks, and home healthcare devices.
The GTM601/GTM609 modules include Option's renowned technical expertise and customer support services. These capabilities enable device vendors - particularly those with no cellular experience - to bring wireless solutions to market quickly and cost-effectively without the cost, risk and lead time of adding the staff, equipment and other resources necessary to develop wireless solutions.
Recently, Lumigon, a Scandinavian manufacturer of upscale smartphones, used the GTM601 module to develop its Android-powered T1 luxury smartphone in just three months. "In selecting Option, we found a unique wireless solution for our T1 smartphone and a partner with the right level of wireless expertise to help us deliver our product in time and according to specifications," said Lars Gravesen, Lumigon CEO.
"The GTM601 and GTM609 are the only 3G modules that give vendors unprecedented new options for creating devices that stand out from the pack with their super-slim designs, global roaming capabilities and true broadband speeds," said Jan Callewaert, CEO Option. "Just as important, these modules slash the cost, risk and time to market for those vendors, giving them a competitive advantage over rivals that are limited by modules based on past, first-generation footprint design."

The Push2TV HD (PTV2000) is compatible with laptops featuring both current generation and next generation Intel® Wireless Display technology and enables consumers to wirelessly enjoy videos, music, photos and Internet content stored on their laptop on their big screen TVs.*
"Over the last year Intel has worked on a number of enhancements to Intel® WiDi for 2011 including support for 1080p, Blu-ray(TM) playback, and surround sound. We are also increasing the number of computing devices that support Intel WiDi by enabling many 2nd generation Intel® core(TM) processor-based laptops and select upcoming Intel® Atom-based netbooks," said Kerry Forell, Intel WiDi Product Line Manager. "We are pleased to continue our relationship with NETGEAR, a leader in wireless networking, and we're excited that they are launching the second generation NETGEAR Push2TV HD adapter for Intel® WiDi."
"NETGEAR is delighted to continue our relationship with Intel to deliver the NETGEAR Push2TV HD TV adapter for Intel® Wireless Display, providing customers a truly easy way to extend the PC viewing experience to the TV," said Damir Skripic, Product Line Manager, Connected Entertainment, NETGEAR. Introduces two models that can significantly improve the quality of life with consumers experiencing hearing loss
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- International CES, Center Hall, Booth 10406-10418 -- Audiovox Corporation (Nasdaq: VOXX) - Audiovox Accessories Corporationintroduced two, Personal Sound Amplifier models for consumers who want to hear better in certain situations. These new Personal Sound Amplifiers provide a highly affordable solution for consumers with mild-to-moderate hearing loss.
Hearing loss is very common and a normal part of getting older - like what many of the Baby Boomers are beginning to experience. However, hearing loss is steadily increasing due to exposure to noisy environments, loud concerts, city traffic, power tools, and lawn mowers; and it is taking its toll on several different age groups.
"About 33 million Americans experience impaired hearing. And 75% of these people, who could benefit from some form of hearing device, do not have one," stated David Geise, President of Audiovox Accessories Corporation. "We believe that an enhanced Personal Sound Amplifier can provide a convenient and highly affordable solution for all of those potential first-time hearing device users. This is an excellent solution for people who want to amplify their hearing in certain situations like a crowded restaurant, church, watching TV or, at the movies," said Geise.
RCA "Symphonix", model RPSA10 is a Personal Sound Amplifier which offers digital technology, clean amplification and discreet design. Symphonix is a one-size fits all hearing device that is ideal for people no matter their gender or age.
RCA Symphonix provides smooth amplification and background noise reduction over a wide range of frequencies. There is a convenient 3-step progressive volume control and on/off switch in the earpiece. The unit uses patented thin sound tubes that fit into either the left or right ear. Additionally, consumers can use Symphonix at the same time that they are using their Smartphone or cell phone.
The main body of Symphonix is constructed out of high-quality non-resonant material, which provides a comfortable fit. Symphonix weighs less than one quarter ounce, unlike other hearing devices on the market today. The small thin earpiece works well with consumers that might need to wear glasses along with a hearing device.
Symphonix also offers a simplified storage and charging base to take the fuss out of recharging the hearing device, and saves the user money by not having to purchase batteries. Consumers will find a power indicator in the base unit that shows when the earpiece is charging, and once the battery is charged. Symphonix delivers 15 hours of battery charge.
Retail price for the RCA Symphonix is $299.00, and it will be available in April 2011.
Acoustic Research will also be offering model APSA15. It offers enhanced noise reduction performance and will automatically read and adjust to background noise.
This sleek premium unit is designed with high-end hearing components that provide a comfortable fit. It has four volume steps, on/off control and cleaning accessories. The performance and fit of this discreet earpiece is ideal for people on the go.
Acoustic Research provides a stylish compact storage and charging base. The APSA15 will last for 15 hours of active use. The cradle housing is powered by a mini-USB power cable and there are no batteries to buy or replace.
In addition to the manufacturer's warranty, there will be a complete service program offered.
The APSA15 will be available in May 2011 with a suggested retail price of $349.00.

Kontron Announces Over 10 Embedded Platforms Based on 2nd Generation Intel® Core(TM) i3/i5/i7 Processor Family
Performance boost and greater flexibility through unified cross platform middleware and FPGA based I/O design services
ECHING, Germany, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Parallel to the launch of the 2nd generation Intel® Core(TM) processors, Kontron announced that it will be supporting this advanced new microarchitecture with CPU, processor graphics, memory controller (some with ECC support) and PCIe controller on a single die on over 10 embedded platforms. The 2nd generation Intel® Core(TM) i3/i5/i7 processors have a completely new microarchitecture, enabling small-sized designs to be created with unmatched computing power, graphics performance and energy efficiency on a small footprint*. In addition, with Kontron's value-added middleware, and strength in offering market-specific I/Os via FPGA, even more specific applications can be custom-tailored.
The first Kontron product to feature this highly integrated processor with improved graphics performance is the Kontron COM Express(TM) basic ETXexpress®-SC Computer-on-Module. In Q1 2011, a mini-ITX, Flex-ATX embedded motherboard and 6U CompactPCI® blade will follow. Other platforms planned for 2011 include 3U CompactPCI®, 3U VPX, AdvancedMC(TM), PCIe/104(TM), ATX embedded motherboards, several industrial PCs.
"With our new COM Express(TM) Module ETXexpress®-SC and all other upcoming platforms, customers are able to create very energy-efficient high-performance applications directly with the availability of this new processor generation," says Dirk Finstel, CTO at Kontron. "On top of this, we support them with our cross platform middleware, Kontron EAPI (Kontron Embedded Application Programming Interface), that offers a highly efficient I/O access and application migration to reduce engineers R&D efforts and time to market for the next generation applications. Our service doesn't stop at this unique feature set either. Additionally, we also offer extensive custom design services as well as migration support that include validation and verification. The goal of all those value adding features to this amazing new processor is to drive customers' R&D costs and time-to-market down to a minimum."
"The improvements inherent in the 2nd generation Intel® Core(TM) processor family allow customers to enhance performance, as well as save money through reduced bill of materials (BOM) and by increasing design reuse over time," says Matt Langman, director of product marketing, Embedded Computing Division, Intel. "I/O flexibility is offered through up to twenty PCIe lanes, and architectural changes have improved the performance while reducing power consumption."
In addition to extended scalability, optimized power consumption and improved graphics performance, target applications will benefit from the new processors' high-level of integration, including the memory controller (some with ECC support) and processor graphics. Kontron's platforms based on 2nd generation Intel® Core(TM) processors will also incorporate Intel® Advanced Vector Extensions (Intel® AVX) to accelerate scalar-based operations required for imaging applications in industrial automation, medical and military. Intel® AVX also accelerates intensive floating-point applications, such as high-performance embedded computing (HPEC). Additionally, Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 automatically shifts or reallocates processor cores and processor graphics resources to speed up performance, tailoring a workload to give users an immediate performance boost whenever possible based on thermal headroom. Since OEMs can use these enhancements on a wide Kontron portfolio of standardized and proven platforms, design risks are minimized and quality rises. Furthermore, R&D cost savings and reduced time-to-market are accomplished through Kontron's unified cross platform middleware, Kontron EAPI, which is included in all new Kontron boards and systems with the 2nd generation of Intel® Core i3/i5/i7 processors.

Audiovox Launches New 'Distracted Driver' Safety Solutions for the Aftermarket
Lane-Departure and Forward Collision Warning Advanced driver assistance system
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- International CES, Center Hall, Booth 10406-10418 -- Audiovox Corporation (Nasdaq: VOXX) today announced that it is expanding its focus on mobile safety to include solutions for distracted driving, which is becoming epidemic throughout the country. This new system has been developed for the automotive aftermarket where Audiovox is already an industry leader in entertainment, security and more recently safety. It is an expansion of their collision avoidance camera and sensor programs that have been supplying the aftermarket for the last several years. These new systems will give all consumers features currently only available on premium new cars.
Audiovox's technology partner in this product is Iteris, Inc. (NYSE Amex: ITI) a company that has been in this business since 1989 supplying lane departure technology to car and truck OEM's such as Nissan, Mitsubishi Fuso, and Freightliner as well as in Europe with DAF, Iveco, Scania, and others. Domestically, this technology has also been widely developed by Iteris in the heavy truck fleet market.
Tom Malone, president, Audiovox Electronics Corporation said, "Drivers really believe that they can drive, talk on the phone, text, eat, apply make up, all at the same time and the facts are proving them terribly wrong. Today, Driver Distraction is one of if not the biggest contributor to accidents. Audiovox sees entrance into this market as a logical expansion of our mobile safety products that include back up sensors and cameras for the aftermarket."
The driver assistance alert system has two major functions: unintended lane departure warning (LDW) and forward collision warning (FCW). It will provide an audible warning to the driver if they cross over the lane markings without engaging their turn signal. It also warns the driver if they are following too close to the vehicle in front of them, or if their closing speed in relation to the car in front is likely to cause a collision. It pays attention even when the driver doesn't!
The system uses advanced OEM grade "Machine Vision" technology that can identify the road lane markings as well as vehicles and stopped objects in your path. For FCW, it utilizes an on board computer that calculates the time-to-closing distance of objects in front of you. For LDW, the computer calculates the lane position of your vehicle in relation to the lane markings, or roadside edge if there are no markings.
Malone concluded, "Iteris is the logical company to partner with as we enter this exciting new market. They have been supplying this technology to the passenger car and heavy truck markets for over a decade. This particular system will bring advanced technology to any vehicle and provide consumers with a solution to this ever growing problem. We may not be able to stop them from driving distracted but this product will help bring them back to focus on driving."
The system is expected to retail for approximately $599.99 and will be available in Q3 of 2011.

CarLink systems are now available at retail, online and through dealers, for $249.00, which includes the first year of service with unlimited usage in the United States. Every year thereafter, service is expected to be $29.99. Subscribers activate their CarLink system after the hardware is installed and tested and will receive a link to download the software directly to their mobile device. Even if users do not have a smartphone app, CarLink can still be accessed via the web, simply by logging on to http://www.voxcarlink.com from any browser.
Malone concluded, "Much of our R&D has been focused on assimilating wireless technologies into our product lines and leveraging the use of mobile devices, such as smartphones, to provide consumers with products they not only want, but need. I believe 2011 and beyond will be no different, as we have several upgrades and new innovations planned for the mass market, as well as customized solutions for many of our OEM partners."

Now Supplying radios for Toyota, Hyundai, GM and VW up to 19 new models planned by end of 2011
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- International CES, Center Hall, Booth 10406-10418 -- Audiovox Corporation (Nasdaq: VOXX) today announced the expansion of its OE Sound Solution line to include nine models introduced at this year's CE show and the commitment to deliver another 8 to 10 models throughout 2011.
"These new infotainment systems expand on the Company's existing line for Camry and Corolla and add head units compatible with VW, Honda, Hyundai, Toyota and GM," said Tom Malone, President of Audiovox Electronics. "Audiovox was the very first company that supplied aftermarket radios with an OE style back some 45 years ago with our SPS Custom Line of auto sound. These new radios are the modern equivalent of that line providing the car dealer viable alternatives to factory installed systems that deliver increased profit opportunities."
Where many competitive OE solutions offer limited capabilities, these products come with some of the most sought after consumer features like built-in Navigation with Navteq US/Canada maps, built-in Parrot Bluetooth, hi-res touch screen displays (7" and 8" depending on model), Made for iPod and iPhone, XM -ready, and 3-year warranty.
While most of the line is designed to fit specific vehicles the GM and VW models fit multiple car models. The Company plans to introduce a universal double DIN with built-in Navigation which will be compatible with most vehicles.
The beauty of these systems for the consumer is that there are no package purchases that include unwanted options so they can just purchase the radio upgrade....and the cost of the radio upgrade can be included in the vehicle's monthly payments. In addition, these heads unit also come with a 3-year warranty.
"The new car market in the US appears to be turning the corner and all industry estimates point to continued improvements. We believe our OE sound solutions provide the dealer with consumer desired options that present profit opportunities....a win, win," Malone concluded.

Jerome Arnaud, CEO of Doro, is participating in the Living in Digital Times Press Conference on Thursday, January 6 located in room S227 (South Hall) at 2:00 p.m. (PST).
The conference is a platform designed to create dialogue between companies and key consumer demographics such as the baby boomers and active seniors. Doro is among the growing ranks of companies focused on designing technologies for seniors.
"In 2010, the company conducted a survey with Synovate in the US. The research indicated that the penetration rate of mobile phones for persons above the age of 65 was below 75% and that 35% of the same population was intimidated or uncomfortable with new technology. Doro's ambition is to increase the mobile penetration among elderly with products which are not appearing as too technically complex. The brand is well-established and has become a benchmark in this niche area of telecommunication. Since 2008, we have experienced tremendous success in North America and we are looking forward to continue this in 2011 and beyond. Doro is well positioned with its key demographic and with leading international operators," commented Jerome Arnaud, CEO of Doro.
Doro arrived to the U.S. in 2008 with ergonomically designed, stylish mobile phones launched by Centennial Wireless to answer the call of the growing population of baby boomers accustomed to mobile phones as part of their lives. In 2009, Doro released two mobile devices, Doro PhoneEasy® 410gsm and Doro PhoneEasy ® 345 gsm, in the US market in partnership with Consumer Cellular, the exclusive wireless provider for AARP's nearly 40 million members.
"Consumer Cellular has been thrilled with our Doro partnership, which allows us to provide our customers with enlarged button handsets that have easy to read display text," said John Marick, Consumer Cellular CEO. "Doro fits perfectly into Consumer Cellular's mission to partner with leading innovators that can help empower our customers to lead independent, mobile lifestyles with easy-to-use devices and affordable calling plans."
In 2010 Doro expanded into Canada and launched the Doro PhoneEasy® 410gsm with Rogers Communications Inc.
"I am very satisfied with the presence of our phone in Rogers' retail stores. This presence in stores combined with smart marketing initiatives is building a success in Canada," continued Jerome Arnaud.
Doro's Care products have received some of the world's most prestigious international prizes during the last years, including IF-award, Janus Award, IDEA, BIO 21 and Stevie Wonder's Wonder Vision Award.
The company Care division has been growing by more than 80% in the first 9 months of 2010.
