NETGEAR Introduces 4G LTE Mobile Broadband Router for Verizon Wireless Customers
700 MHz LTE MBR1000 Delivers Improved Wireless Mobile Broadband Internet Access Performance
LAS VEGAS and BASKING RIDGE, N.J.,Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --From the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), NETGEAR®, in conjunction with Verizon Wireless, today announced the MBR1000 Mobile Broadband Router, which is specifically designed to take advantage of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network.
Performance delivered by the Verizon Wireless 4G network, combined with the NETGEAR MBR1000, helps enable powerful new business applications and expands broadband access to home and business customers that are either on the move or outside the wired broadband territory.
The MBR1000 supports the expected wireless data speeds of 5-12 megabits per second (Mbps) downstream and 2-5 Mbps upstream on the Verizon Wireless LTE network. The device is designed to support theoretical LTE speeds of up to 100 Mbps downstream by 50 Mbps upstream. The MBR1000 delivers a full customer-side LAN with four Fast Ethernet ports and 802.11n Wi-Fi at up to 270 Mbps and features redundant WAN network availability with a separate Fast Ethernet WAN uplink port. The MBR1000 Dual WAN feature gives customers the option to switch between WANs for "always on" network service should their selected primary WAN experience an outage -- an especially important feature for fixed business applications. Equipped with an internal 3G/4G mobile broadband modem, the MBR1000 expands coverage by improving throughput beyond what is currently available to routers using USB mobile broadband modems because of its high-performance antenna configuration.
The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network, launched in December 2010, is the fastest, most advanced network in the United States, providing speeds up to 10 times faster than Verizon Wireless' 3G network. Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network currently reaches one-third of all Americans, with plans to expand the network to Verizon Wireless' entire 3G coverage area over the next three years.
"Verizon Wireless looks forward to the development of powerful new mobile IP-based services that may be built on the combination of our LTE network and 4G Mobile Broadband Routers such as NETGEAR's MBR1000," said Aparna Khurjekar, executive director, Business Solutions, Verizon Wireless. "Creative new IP-based fleet management services are now possible, allowing fleets to easily and securely connect to the mobile broadband network to deliver on-the-go transaction processing and IP video to record pickups, deliveries or accidents."
The MBR1000 can be deployed on rail, bus or select coastal marine vessels as well as in mining, construction, logging, parks and rural areas, greatly expanding broadband Internet access. With this expanded coverage, consumers on the go now have easy access to IP-based entertainment and valuable productivity tools.
The LTE MBR1000 is part of Verizon Wireless' LTE Open Development program -- designed to allow and encourage the development community to create new products, applications and services beyond what Verizon Wireless offers in its portfolio and bring these to the marketplace on the Verizon Wireless network.
"We commend Verizon Wireless' 4G technology leadership and the mammoth logistical effort that the company made in order to launch its LTE network with such extensive U.S. coverage," said Michael Clegg, vice president and general manager, Service Provider Business Unit, NETGEAR. "With the combination of NETGEAR's innovative mobile broadband technology and Verizon Wireless' cutting-edge network, we are confident we will deliver the most flexible and high-performance solution to the market."
The NETGEAR LTE MBR1000 will be highlighted from Jan. 6-9 in Verizon Wireless' booth (#35216 in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center) at CES.

Subjex Corporation Makes Technology Investment in Online Auction Penny20, Inc.
Five year Strategic Partnership Agreement and Technology Infusion to Establish First Hidden-Limit Auction
MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Subjex Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: SBJX) and Penny20, Inc. today announced a non-exclusive, five year strategic partnership technology investment agreement. In exchange for a 40% equity stake in the auction company, Subjex is contributing what it is calling an $18 million technology investment of its intellectual property holdings in the form of Artificial Intelligence algorithms, software development libraries, and use of its 3 million plus opt-in business database. The partnership serves to create the first auction model of its kind. Penny20.com is set to launch this month.
"Subjex has developed significant intellectual property assets over the last 11 years," remarked Andrew Dean Hyder, Subjex Corporation CEO. "These assets will now power Penny20's auction system, which allows anyone to sell items for full price without paying a listing fee, and enables consumers to win items at significant discounts that have until now only been available through risky online penny auctions."
Penny20, despite its name, asserts not to be a penny auction, but a "Hidden-Limit" auction. Each bid placed in .20 cent increments is combined to create a growing "Hidden" total that is systematically revealed to bidders. Auctions have a finite "Limit" because bid revenue never exceeds the auction price. Buying one, or many bids, the winner is the first bidder whose bid pushes the Hidden total to the auction price.
Penny20 Vice President, Brandon Ward noted, "Using Subjex' expertise we have developed a model that disrupts the status quo. Subjex' dialogue technology also powers our virtual auctioneer character, 'Penny', which further distinguishes our model."

Maytag® Maxima(TM) Washer Brings Science to the Laundry Room to Offer the Best Cleaning in the Industry Enabled by PowerWash(TM)
New Maxima(TM) Washer Uses Algorithms to Determine When, and How Much, Detergent to Inject
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Laundry pre-treaters will collect dust thanks to the new Maytag® Maxima(TM) washer. Its PowerWash(TM) System takes out tough stains and provides better overall cleaning performance while using less detergent. The system's features include Optimal Dispense which injects detergent intermittently throughout the washer's fill time and industry-first, PowerSpray, to provide enhanced cleaning by spraying the detergent solution evenly on the washer's contents.
The Optimal Dispense compartment holds enough detergent to power through 36 loads based on 6x concentrated HE detergent. Once the compartment is inserted into the washer, the user-friendly full-color widescreen LCD display will prompt the user to choose the detergent concentration level. After choosing the right detergent, the Maxima(TM) washer will go to work with its series of algorithms to determine how much and when to inject detergent into the washer to provide the best cleaning for the type of load.
The LCD display's intuitive technology allows consumers to get the most from their washer and dryer by offering stain removal tips and laundry hints at their fingertips.
"Who among us hasn't spilled coffee on our shirt while commuting to work or dropped oatmeal, peanut butter or jam on our lap while eating breakfast and checking the morning e-mail?" said Brett Oleson, Maytag senior manager, laundry. "If you remember to pre-treat those stains, they should definitely come out. But often times we forget all about the stain and the soiled item gets tossed in the hamper. With the PowerWash cycle, the Maxima(TM) washer will go to work with extra cleaning and rinsing to find those stains and remove them."
Best Cleaning in the Industry*
The Maxima(TM) washer's PowerWash(TM) System consists of PowerSpray, Optimal Dispense and the PowerWash cycle. The PowerWash cycle provides extra cleaning action and a thorough rinse to power out tough stains like wine, chocolate and ground-in dirt. The extra cleaning action loosens stains and ground-in dirt while an internal water heater boosts water temperatures to fight difficult stains. A thorough rinse flushes out any remaining detergent or lingering soils.
To help keep clothes fresh and wrinkle free, select the Fresh Hold(TM) option with Dynamic Venting Technology(TM) (DVT). The laundry can wait for up to 16 hours after the wash cycle is finished to be loaded into the dryer.
An increased 5.0 cu. ft. I.E.C. equivalent(ii) capacity can handle up to 29 towels allowing consumers to wash larger loads that can translate into fewer loads per week.
The Maxima(TM) washer (MHW 9000X) uses about 11.5 gallons of water, an amazing feat when just 10 years ago the traditional top load in many U.S. homes used more than 40 gallons of water per load. This model uses up to 82 percent less water and 86 percent less energy(iii). The IntelliFill(TM) water level sensor uses a built-in sensor to match water usage to load size. The Maxima(TM) washer meets the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) Tier III energy specifications.
Beyond the ability to hold more clothes, save water and energy, the Maxima(TM) washer will result in 10 percent detergent cost savings for those who use detergent accurately every time they wash.
"Most consumers fill their detergent measuring cap to the top rather than the fill line. This system helps minimize detergent overdosing, in turn, saving money," said Brett Oleson, Maytag senior manager, laundry.
The 7.4 cu. ft capacity Maxima(TM) EcoConserve(TM) dryer (ME/GD9000X) enabled by Advanced Moisture Sensing uses 48 percent less energy(iv) when paired with the Maxima(TM) washer. Advanced Moisture Sensing uses three separate sensors to evenly dry the load without overdrying, which reduces the risk of shrinkage. To relax wrinkles and refresh loads of lightly-worn items that may not need a full wash, use one of the steam-enhanced dryer cycles. The SoundGuard(TM) stainless steel drum is layered with sound dampening material to offer quiet tumbling, keeping buckle and button noise to a minimum.
The Maxima(TM) series will be available April 2011 at select Sears. Additionally, the washer has
a 10-year limited parts warranty on the motor and stainless steel wash basket. Models from the Maxima(TM) line of laundry products will start with an MSRP starting at $1,599 each. Please visit http://www.maytag.com for more information.

JVC 3D Projectors and New 3D Displays from LG Electronics Meet THX Strict Performance Benchmarks for 3D Certification
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- THX Ltd. today announced that new home theater projectors from JVC and flat-panel displays from LG Electronics are the latest products to receive THX 3D Display Certification.
At CES 2011, JVC (booth #8226) is showing off two of four new 3D projectors - Procision Series DLA-X9 and DLA-X7 - the world's first THX 3D Certified home theater projectors. These projectors were released in late 2010.
LG Electronics (booth #8205) will be demonstrating new 50- and 60-inch displays from its 2011 Infinia PZ750 and PZ950 plasma series during CES 2011. These are among the world's first flat-panel displays to achieve THX 3D Display Certification. These displays join LG's 2010 Infinia PX950 plasma display, the world's first HDTV to achieve THX's coveted 3D Display Certification.
"THX is committed to bringing the ultimate viewing experience into the consumer's living room and provides the only certification for quality and performance for 3D projectors and displays," said Rick Dean, senior vice president at THX. "We congratulate JVC and LG as the first 3D home theater projector and display manufacturers to pass the rigorous testing required for THX 3D Display Certification."
Offering the only performance benchmark for 3D hardware today, THX 3D Display Certification enables display manufacturers to deliver the same stunning depth and detail found in 3D movie theaters. To achieve THX 3D Display Certification, THX engineers perform more than 400 laboratory tests to evaluate color, cross-talk, viewing angles and video processing performance for both Left and Right eye images. This testing ensures that every THX Certified Display presents consistent stereoscopic images, which is critical for maintaining the 3D effect and minimizing sources of viewer fatigue.
"Our team has worked hard to certify the first 3D projectors to the THX 3D Certified Display standard," said Mike Holmes, vice president, Consumer Display Division, JVC U.S.A. "Consumers have high expectations for 3D technology and by meeting THX's strict requirements, we're confident that the picture quality delivered through our projectors delivers the best 3D projector viewing experience possible outside of cinema."
All THX Certified displays and projectors feature simple, one button solutions for optimized playback of 3D and 2D movies right out-of-the-box. THX Cinema Mode ensures that color reproduction, luminance, blacks, gamma and video processing matches what the filmmaker intended, and THX 3D Cinema Mode extends this same level of accuracy for 3D broadcasts and Blu-ray Discs. THX 3D Cinema Mode is designed to deliver highly accurate color in 3D, while minimizing sources of cross-talk and flicker.
"Buying an HDTV is a daunting process for many consumers and 3D adds an entirely new level of complexity," said Tim Alessi, director of new product development, LG Electronics USA. "By achieving THX 3D Display Certification, LG continues its history of setting new standards in picture quality and gives our consumers the peace of mind in knowing they've bought the best."
Named an International CES Innovations 2011 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree, THX is providing private demos to media and consumer electronic industry organizations throughout CES 2011 within a private suite at the Renaissance Hotel, next to the LVCC's South Hall.

New Analog Amplifier and Steerable Line Array Technologies Will Change Next-Generation Audio Product Design
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- THX Ltd. today announced an innovative new concept speaker array that will enable the creation of larger or multiple listening sweet spots in a room, providing the highest-quality sound for all listeners even in difficult acoustic environments. The concept prototype being demonstrated at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is capable of 96 discrete channels that can be steered dynamically, creating new opportunities for CE manufacturers and content creators.
The result of more than five years of research and development at THX, the concept speaker includes a breakthrough all-analog amplifier and a proprietary steerable line array. The analog amplifier delivers traditional audiophile quality while meeting the modern requirements for the highest energy efficiency. The THX Steerable Line Array technology uses digital signal processing (DSP) to direct multiple beams of sound to any part of the room, providing the best sound wherever you choose to sit. Listeners are no longer confined to a single position with every seat becoming the best seat in the house.
All the sound comes from a long, narrow slot. Even the amplifier has an unusually low profile. These features provide unique design and packaging opportunities. The sound system can be made so unobtrusive that it can disappear, leaving only the music.
"While innovation on the visual display side of home entertainment has been rapid, the audio side has been slower to evolve," said Laurie Fincham, senior vice president, THX. "Sound is too important to take a backseat. These new technologies will allow more people to hear music at its best wherever they sit."
THX is committed to collaborating with filmmakers, CE manufacturers, automakers and cinema chains to develop THX Certified products and THX Technologies that simplify and improve the entertainment experience. The components THX are introducing at CES 2011 will create a superior, unified audio experience that exceeds the consumers' expectations for both performance and design. These groundbreaking technologies will be on display for private demos to media and consumer electronic industry organizations throughout CES 2011 within a private suite at the Renaissance Hotel, next to the LVCC's South Hall.

SD Association Triples Speeds with UHS-II and Introduces New eBook Specification
New pin design ratchets bus speeds up to 312 MB/s, eBook spec opens books, graphic novels to secure portability
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CES Booth South Hall 4 # 36226 -SD gives consumers data transfer speeds that exceedeven the most demanding high-def recording needs today with an important leap in SD bus-interface speeds up to 312 Megabytes per second with its new UHS-II bus-interface specification. These extraordinary transfer speeds give manufacturers the flexibility to develop new features and markets for mobile phones and other consumer electronics strengthened by the world-leading memory card standard. The SD Association also announced today eBook, an application specification that gives eBook publishers access to billions of SD-equipped mobile phones and other portable devices.
"UHS-II increases SD performance and value and delivers immediate impact on manufacturer innovation and consumer creativity," said Norm Frentz, chairman of the SD Association. "We've tripled bus-interface speeds from last year's UHS-I development, and we plan to double UHS-II speeds in the future."
UHS-II: Available exclusively on SDXC and SDHC products
Fast and reliable, the new SD 4.00 specification available to members this quarter turns SD memory cards into high-performing storage systems and consumers' video and still cameras into professional-level equipment. Tripled bus-interface speeds give manufacturers more flexible design options, including low voltage and low power consumption, for large and small SD devices without compromising data transfer rates. Consumers will be able to increase the power and possibility of their mobile phone at home and work, recording high-definition video directly onto their UHS-II memory card and backing up data. Well-known SD benefits are heightened with UHS bus interface, providing faster continuous shooting speed for digital still cameras and higher resolution movie recordings in video cameras, including 3D HD. Since it is fully backwards compatible, devices supporting UHS bus interface will accept the billions of existing SD memory cards in the market today.
New high-speed interface signals are assigned on the second row of pins on UHS-II SDXC and SDHC memory cards. This new speed option will be available in full-size SDHC and SDXC memory cards and microSDHC and microSDXC form factors and does not change the physical size or shape of the cards.
Both UHS-I and UHS-II make the massive storage specified for SDHC and SDXC manageable and even more portable. Ultra High Speed was announced in June 2010 and UHS-I delivers top bus-interface speeds of 104 Megabytes per second. UHS bus interfaces are backwards compatible and are exclusive to SDXC and SDHC products. All UHS-equipped memory cards achieve greatest performance when paired with corresponding UHS devices. Both SDXC UHS-I and SDHC UHS-I products are already in retail outlets around the world.
eBook: Expanding functionality of mobile devices
"Our new eBook application brings the digital book niche to the global masses. It opens broad consumer access to eBook content and turns billions of existing SD mobile phones and devices into eReaders," Frentz said. "SD continues to evolve its capabilities to support voracious consumer demand for portable movies, television broadcasts, high-definition home videos and now full-color books."
The eBook application increases the value of SD-slotted mobile phones and other display devices. Publishers and readers alike will benefit from full-color, illustration-intensive books like graphic novels available as pre-loaded and portable content. The application lets consumers create an expandable digital library and view content on other SD devices. It also opens new and secure opportunities for content publishers who are currently limited by downloaded content restricted for use only on specific devices. SD application specifications are designed so SD memory cards can be used in all SD devices.
The Association has two videos showing optimized uses for the variety of SD memory cards available today at http://www.sdcard.org/videos. It also offers an online resource, http://www.sdcard.org/cardchoice, for users to explore the variety of SD memory cards types for new and existing devices.

Sonic to Add THX Media Director(TM) Technology to RoxioNow
RoxioNow Cloud to Allow Home Entertainment Systems to Automatically Select the Best Settings for Optimal Viewing Experience
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Sonic Solutions® (Nasdaq: SNIC) and THX Ltd., today announced a partnership that will add THX Media Director(TM) technology into Sonic's content creation tools, streaming content, and RoxioNow(TM)-enabled consumer electronics devices. Sonic will incorporate THX Media Director technology into its professional content creation products, add THX Media Director content descriptors into digital content streamed through its RoxioNow entertainment platform, and incorporate THX Media Director functionality into RoxioNow playback. The collaboration will help bring THX Media Director capabilities to an array of online entertainment services and a broad, multi-manufacturer network of connected devices and allow consumers to experience movies, television, and music that is faithful to an artists' creative intent.
The integration of THX Media Director across the Sonic products greatly extends the reach of THX's innovative technology into consumers' digital entertainment experience. With this rapid deployment of THX Media Director-enabled content and devices, consumers will begin to experience the benefits of THX Media Director's automatic operation, enjoying their digital content without having to constantly adjust A/V settings when switching across media types.
The RoxioNow platform encompasses a complete range of products and technologies for the creation, distribution, and enjoyment of streamed and downloaded digital entertainment. THX will work with Sonic to include THX Media Director content descriptors into nearly all titles in its digital library.
Sonic will also integrate THX Media Director capabilities into its professional optical disc authoring and video encoding products. Scenarist®, the number one choice for professional DVD and Blu-ray Disc production, and CineVision®, a comprehensive encoding solution for DVD-Video and Blu-ray Disc, will each allow content creators to make their content THX Media Director-enabled.
"The ideal scenario for consumers is a world in which all their entertainment devices work seamlessly to deliver content in the way it was intended to be viewed," said Rolf Hartley, senior vice president and general manager, Professional Technology Division, Sonic Solutions. "Offering THX Media Director will help streamline optimizing audio and visual settings and will help further Sonic's efforts to provide consumers high-quality entertainment experiences across a broad range of connected devices."
Mounting consumer frustration, driven by a growing array of content types, media sources, device options and playback settings, is fueling demand for THX Media Director. Recognizing this, content owners and distributors, like RoxioNow, are working closely with THX, from capture through to post-production, to include THX Media Director information for describing specific audio and video characteristics in their content. THX Media Director-enabled devices then are able to read and act upon this information and automatically select the optimal settings for the content and the capabilities of the A/V components in the home theater system.
"Confusion often leads to inaction, with many consumers leaving their products in the wrong modes or settings, which results in a less than stellar experience," said Rick Dean, senior vice president, THX Ltd. "THX Media Director combined with the broad reach and influence of Sonic's technologies for digital and physical delivery will ensure that all of the filmmakers' work, whether streamed on RoxioNow or encoded using Sonic's professional tools, is presented using the optimal settings intended for the playback experience in the home."
THX Media Director content descriptors communicate information needed for consumer electronics devices to automatically select optimum audio and video settings for specific pieces of content. THX Media Director-enabled devices (set-top boxes, 3DTVs, projectors, and AV receivers) that can act on these descriptors will be available in late 2011 and early 2012 from companies including LG Electronics, JVC U.S.A., Epson America, and Onkyo Sound and Vision. The RoxioNow player that is licensed into many such CE devices will be upgraded to support the reception of THX Media Director information that is delivered with RoxioNow titles.
The RoxioNow platform serves a broad range of premium content, including new movies and next-day TV programs, to a growing, multi-manufacturer ecosystem of connected home and mobile electronics, as well as over 350 million DivX Certified devices. RoxioNow enables storefronts for brick and mortar retailers, cable operators, PC manufacturers, game system vendors, consumer electronics makers, and Hollywood studios' direct-to-consumer initiatives. The platform allows these companies to participate in the entertainment supply chain, add value to product offerings, and form ongoing relationships with customers. "Powered by RoxioNow(TM)" stores enable consumers to instantly rent and purchase high-quality entertainment on their favorite devices and, through the RoxioNow online entertainment library, access their content at any time, on any RoxioNow-powered device.

We look forward to more partners featuring our technology as a fundamental part of new products and creative content."
Mounting consumer frustration, driven by a growing array of content types, media sources, device options and playback settings, is fueling demand for THX Media Director. Recognizing this, studios are working closely with THX, from capture through to post-production, to include THX Media Director information for describing specific audio and video characteristics in their content. THX Media Director-enabled devices are able to then read and act upon this information and automatically select the optimal settings for the content and the capabilities of the A/V components in the home theater system. The end result is that consumers see and hear from their home setup an entertainment experience that's faithful to the artist's creative intent.

LG Electronics Reveals Smart Devices, Innovations for 2011
CTO Ahn Highlights Smart TVs, Smart Phones and Smart Appliances at LG Press Conference Keynote
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- From Smart TVs to Smart Appliances to Smart Phones, LG Electronics today unveiled its smart technologies and devices, innovations designed to enhance consumers' lives, at its global press conference at the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show.
"For LG, 2011 is going to be all about smart products, including smart TVs, smart phones, and smart appliances," said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and Chief Technology Officer of LG Electronics, during his keynote speech. "It's no longer enough just to offer static services -- consumers today want to connect and enjoy a constantly updated range of content and applications. We understand this, and that's why 2011's going to be a big year for LG."
One of LG's biggest smart product introductions at this year's CES is LG Smart TV, which offers premium TV technology and Internet connectivity while being extremely easy to use*. Demonstrating the "Point, Click, Control, Simply Smarter" capabilities of LG's Smart TVs, LG's Home Dashboard and Magic Motion Remote Control make using the Smart TV and accessing its wealth of content intuitive and simple.
With the addition of Media Link to LG's existing USB and DLNA functions, Smart Share gives LG Smart TV users the freedom to access content from their PC by transferring it directly onto their TV. In addition to enabling viewers to easily watch all their stored content on the big screen, Media Link also provides simultaneous information on what they are watching, including synopses, actor profiles and viewer ratings.
Also unveiled at the press conference was LG's Smart TV Upgrader (ST600) which offers consumers a full range of Smart TV functions on regular TVs via an HDMI link*.
LG also introduced the LW6500, a new LG CINEMA 3D TV that takes 3D images to new heights of brightness and clarity by using 3D technology and polarized 3D eyewear similar to movie theatres*. With LG's proprietary Film-type Patterned Retarder (FPR) panel, the TV delivers a first class, virtually blur-free and flicker-free 3D picture and a wide viewing angle. The LW6500 also comes with more comfortable and affordable 3D glasses which have no electrical parts, meaning they never need to be recharged.
Beyond TVs, LG is also highlighting 3D Blu-ray home theater systems, 3D Blu-ray Disc(TM) players, 3D monitors, 3D laptops, and 3D projectors that provide a superior 3D entertainment experience for virtually every occasion and every setting.
On the mobile front, Dr. Ahn introduced LG's latest smartphones including LG Optimus 2X, a smartphone with a dual core processor and full HD screen and LG Optimus Black. Featuring an amazingly bright 700nit(1) the Optimus Black weighs just 109g, and is only 9.2mm-thick.
LG also showcased its Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology, a glasses-free 3D display for mobiles devices, and a smartphone that supports the United States' version of mobile DTV (LG MS960).
Continuing with the smart theme, Dr. Ahn introduced LG's complete range of smart appliances using its groundbreaking new THINQ(TM) technology. LG's THINQ(TM) allows users to adapt their home appliances to their personal preference and control and monitor them via their smartphones or tablet PCs. LG's washing machine can automatically select the most cost-effective time to do the laundry and can also send detailed diagnoses of technical problems direct to a service center*, doing away with the need for service calls or in-home visits.
THINQ(TM) enables LG's smart ovens to download a wide range of up-to-date recipes while the smart refrigerator makes it easy to keep track of what's in the fridge, where it is and when it expires. What's more, LG's HOM-BOT robotic vacuum cleaner can not only tidy up the house, it can even keep watch over it while the owners are away.
Already heavily involved in major smart grid projects around the world, LG is making this demand-response technology a major focus of its energy solutions strategy for 2011 and beyond. Some of LG's smart grid initiatives include the Southern California Edison (SCE) Pilot Project, the first residential energy storage system verification project in the United States; the Smart Watts Pilot Project in Germany, the first real-time energy pricing project in the EU; and the Jeju Pilot Project in Korea.
* Specifications subject to change without notice.
** Content partners may vary by product category.
* Internet connection & subscriptions required and sold separately. The Magic Motion Remote does not come equipped with all LG SmartTV enabled TVs and separate purchase maybe required.
* For a small percentage of the population, the viewing of stereoscopic 3D video may cause discomfort such as dizziness or nausea. If you experience any of these symptoms, discontinue using the 3D functionality and contact your health care provider. 3D glasses required and sold separately.

LG Debuts New Home Appliances With Latest Smart Features, Core Technologies at CES 2011
New Smart Suite of Appliances to Transform Way Consumers Manage Their Lives
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011/PRNewswire/ -- LG Electronics will today unveil a full range of home appliances equipped with the company's proprietary smart technology, LG THINQ(TM), alongside its industry-leading core technologies. Marking the first time LG has brought a full line-up of home appliances to the International CES®, the company will be debuting LG THINQ in Las Vegas from January 6 to 9.
At the heart of the line-up this year are LG's innovative new smart features -- Smart Grid, Smart Diagnosis(TM), Smart Access, Smart Adapt and Food Management -- which allow homeowners to manage refrigerators, washing machines, ovens and robotic vacuum cleaners via a smart network. In combination with LG's signature technologies, the new innovations will deliver big savings in energy, time and expense, helping enrich consumers' lives.
"We're excited to add home appliances to our largest ever line-up of total LG innovations ever to be shown at CES," said Young-ha Lee, President and CEO of LG Electronics Home Appliance Company. "By drawing on LG's latest IT and mobile technology, our smart appliances promise to be real game changers, offering a big leap forward in convenience and efficiency."
LG THINQ -- Smarter Solutions for a More Empowered and Convenient Life
Using "Recommend Time" and "Lowest Rate" options, LG's Smart Grid can program washing machines to do the washing at the most cost-effective times. LG's ovens also tap into the Smart Grid to offer varying cost options that take into account the duration and electrical cost of the cooking. Similarly, LG's refrigerators can adjust their functions to save on energy bills at peak times, or ramp up cooling power when energy rates are low.
LG Smart Diagnosis notices when anything goes wrong on a home appliance. For minor problems, such as a refrigerator door left open, the appliance alerts the owner on its display panel or, in future models, via a Wi-Fi connection, on the consumer's smartphone or tablet PC. Thanks to this Smart Diagnosis system, service technicians will know exactly what to fix and when, helping to quickly troubleshoot issues and save time and money.
Thanks to the monitoring and control functions of LG Smart Access, consumers can oversee their household chores regardless of their location. Through smart phones or tablet PCs, they can see how much longer their food has to cook, or check the temperature and contents of the refrigerator. Consumers will even have the option of instructing their LG robotic vacuum cleaner to clean up or keep watch over the house while they're out.
LG Smart Adapt lets consumers download the latest options for their appliances, including pre-programmed recipes or washing cycles that best fit their lifestyle. In addition, with its drag and drop icons and voice recognition function, LG Food Management makes it easy to keep track of where everything is in the refrigerator and when it all expires.
LG's Core Technologies Provide Outstanding Benefits to Consumers
LG's Washers Offer "Best of the Best" Washing Performance
Underpinned by the Inverter Direct Drive motor, LG's 6Motion(TM) Technology uses six different washing motions to provide outstanding performance and gentle cleaning. ColdWash(TM) delivers a low energy wash as good as with warm water, while LG TrueSteam(TM), penetrates deeply into fabrics to remove dirt and reduce wrinkles. LG offers a 10-year warranty on its Direct Drive motor to ensure a worry-free clean.
LG Fridges Provide the Freshest, Most Convenient Storage Space
A long-time leader in French-door refrigeration, LG continues to innovate and provide added convenience for consumers. LG's Slim SpacePlus(TM) Ice System makes way for additional door bin space -- allowing for the most refrigerator shelf space available in the industry, while the new Converta(TM) Drawer offers the unique ability to convert the top freezer drawer into a refrigerator drawer when extra refrigerator space is needed. Together with energy-saving innovations like Linear Compressor technology, LG is delivering something better to the most important kitchen appliance.
LG's Cooking Appliances Produce the Best Cooking Results
Using LG's double oven with its innovative InfraGrill Technology, consumers can cook faster and tastier dishes with lower energy costs. The double oven's 6-inch tall upper oven gives ergonomic flexibility when baking and cooking, and its 6.7 cu. ft. capacity lets consumers cook large dishes with more convenience.
LG Vacuum Cleaners Make Cleaning Effortless and Efficient
Thanks to the Kompressor and a larger bin size, LG's upright vacuum cleaner compresses dirt to hold more, so that consumers can empty less. DualForce+(TM) suction captures more dirt across a wider area, and the Click 'N Go Wand(TM) provides 15 extra feet of reach. In addition, LG's new HOM-BOT robotic vacuum offers a unique combination of camera, ultrasonic and infrared sensors to allow it to find its way into every part of consumers' floors, making cleaning a truly effortless job. It also boasts a super-slim height of just over 3.5 inches.
LG's Steam Dishwasher Delivers the Best Dishwashing Results
LG's dishwashers reduce energy use and offer a 10-year warranty on the Direct Drive motor. The built-in TrueSteam(TM) generator creates powerful, soil-destroying steam for outstanding wash results.
LG's Studio Series Makes the Kitchen Smarter
LG's Studio Series delivers a complete, smart solution using the company's unique core technologies -- Inverter Direct Drive(TM), Linear Compressor and InfraGrill(TM) Technology. LG's Studio Series brings together ovens, microwave ovens, refrigerators and dishwashers in a well-designed premium kitchen package that is sure to be a welcome addition to any home.

Ionics Develops 4G LTE Device for Verizon Wireless
LAS VEGAS, BASKING RIDGE, N.J. and CALAMBA CITY, Philippines, Jan, 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- From the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Ionics EMS Inc. (PSE: ION) said today it has enhanced its 4G LTE service gateway device for Home Monitoring and Control Solutions to take advantage of the power of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network.
The Ionics EMS solution is a server with full processing capability and a new built-in battery for back-up power. With a smaller form factor, the smart device is now more compact and robust than previous versions.
The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network, launched in December 2010, is the fastest, most advanced network in the United States, providing speeds up to 10 times faster than Verizon Wireless' 3G network. Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network currently reaches one-third of all Americans, with plans to expand the network to the company's entire 3G coverage area over the next three years.
The 4G LTE device will enable home security monitoring with a security camera and energy management and home appliance monitoring from a Web portal and a wireless handset. The collaboration was first fostered in 2009 at Verizon Wireless' LTE Innovation Center, and further development has readied this home product for a commercial rollout in the future.
"We are excited Verizon Wireless has launched its 4G LTE network and are looking forward to the technology solutions it will bring to customers. With the demand for faster speed and more data for the 'Internet of things' development, the Ionics' Plug Computer-Service Gateways provide the connectivity to intelligent sensors to build a smarter world," said Larry Qua, Ionics EMS, Inc.'s founding chairman and chief executive officer.

OnStar Leverages the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Network To Drive the Future of In-Vehicle Services
OnStar shows prototype applications for entertainment, communications and safety based on 4G LTE mobile broadband
LAS VEGAS, DETROIT and BASKING RIDGE, N.J., Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- From the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), OnStar today unveiled a demonstration of prototype applications for what future in-vehicle entertainment, communications and safety could look like when taking advantage of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network.
OnStar has equipped a Buick LaCrosse research vehicle to show these applications in the Verizon Wireless booth at the show. Any future streaming video capabilities would be either available solely in the rear seat of the vehicle or only when the vehicle is in park. Among the innovative services made possible by combining the power of OnStar with the speed of 4G:
-- Vehicle monitoring. Cameras mounted throughout the interior and exterior
of the car allow remote viewing of what is happening in and around your
parked vehicle through a smartphone or PC.
-- Impact detection. The research vehicle has the ability to send live
video to secure servers in the cloud from each of its six cameras placed
around the exterior and interior of the vehicle. This is triggered by
events around the car, or by an application on a smartphone. When an
impact such as a parking lot fender-bender is detected, the vehicle
transmits a video clip - helping to identify the offending driver.
-- Home monitoring and control. Keep an eye on your home by connecting to
security cameras in real time through the 4Home service. Control the
thermostat, lights and other home systems from your vehicle - "preset"
scenes allow you to condition your home when you leave, before you
return, or when you're leaving for an extended period of time.
-- Electronic User's Guide. Learn how to operate and maintain your vehicle
through videos streamed on demand to the dashboard.
-- Video chat. Make a video call using Skype to connect with family,
friends or colleagues when the vehicle is in park.
-- Traffic view. A voice-operated navigation system goes beyond calculating
the best route by displaying live traffic-cam images from TrafficLand to
spot congestion before you get stuck in a back-up.
"The true broadband speed of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network gives our engineers the freedom to re-imagine the world of connected in-vehicle services in the future," said OnStar President Chris Preuss. "While we haven't decided yet which of these demonstration features OnStar will offer or when, these prototype applications show just some of what's possible when we combine our 15 years experience in developing safe, secure and leading edge connected mobility solutions with the speed and agility of Verizon Wireless's 4G LTE network. Any future services from OnStar will also meet our high standards for safety - making sure that drivers' hands are on the wheel and their eyes are on the road."

Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network currently reaches one-third of all Americans, with plans to expand the network to the company's entire 3G coverage area over the next three years.
OnStar's prototype applications are the result of collaboration with Verizon Wireless' LTE Innovation Center. The LTE Innovation Center, established in 2008, provides an environment for diverse companies to work together to develop innovative products that leverage 4G LTE technology.
OnStar's Buick LaCrosse research vehicle will be highlighted from Jan. 6 - 9 in the Verizon Wireless booth at CES (#35216 in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center).

ITHelpdeskSoftware.com Debuts; Creating Web's Most Comprehensive Source for Help Desk Software Information, Competitive Comparisons, User Rants and Raves
Submit Help Desk Application Articles For A Chance To Win An iPad
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan. 5, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- With more than 700 vendors competing in the help desk software market, IT professionals are in need of a single source for unbiased, in-depth information comparing and contrasting the wide variety of offerings. It is with this goal in mind that ITHelpDeskSoftware.com launches today.
Until now, researching the many help desk applications available has been a time consuming, arduous task. IT professionals were left to search for appropriate vendor websites, then having discovered those sites, spend valuable time clicking through multiple pages in an effort to identify and compile the needed information. And that was only the beginning. Having the information in-hand, IT professionals then worked to evaluate each offering's capabilities against the others, stripping-away the marketing-content to pick-out the core capabilities.
ITHelpDeskSoftware.com greatly simplifies the process by providing a free, central source of vendor neutral information. ITHelpDeskSoftware.com organizes the research in three main categories:
FxF Listing -- The most unique, powerful, tool provided by ITHelpDeskSoftware.com is the site's Feature-by-Feature listing. ITHelpDeskSoftware.com is the only website that lists help desks along with their detailed features. When users understand what each help desk offers, they can make an informed purchasing decision.
Help Desk Comparison -- Because each user's needs differ, there can be no definition of "the best help desk software." ITHelpDeskSoftware.com lets users make their own comparison and decide what's best for them. FxF listings help users make quicker, easier comparisons and identify help desks that offer the best features for the individual user.
User Reviews -- Customer testimonials are all over vendor websites. But often, these testimonials sound like modified sales pitches. On ITHelpDeskSoftware.com, users can rant and review help desks based on their experience, providing a genuine insight.
As ITHelpDeskSoftware.com focuses on user needs, increasing user-vendor interactions and providing valuable help desk content, its value will continue to grow. Verizon Wireless Expands 3G Wireless Network in Portions of Clinton County, Ohio
WILMINGTON, Ohio, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- To continue to stay ahead of rising demand for wireless voice, 3G multimedia and Internet access, Verizon Wireless has expanded its local network in portions of Clinton County.
Consumer Advantages
The new cell site provides increased wireless voice and 3G data in Wilmington, along U.S. Route 68 between Wilmington and the town of Midland, and within the Cowan Lake State Park.
Expanded 3G data capacity in the area enables more customers using notebook computers or smartphones to:

GPS-enabled maps to Hollywood news;
-- Rapidly browse the Web to keep up with news, sports, stock quotes,
entertainment news and more;
-- Work remotely with file sharing;
-- Quickly download and play music favorites from Top 40 to Classical;
-- Send emails to friends, family and co-workers with picture and video
attachments;
-- Download and play 3D games, and;
-- Stream video and customized radio stations.
"People across Ohio are increasingly relying on smartphones and 3G applications to manage their busy lives and stay connected at home or on-the-go," said Mark Frazier, president-Ohio/Pennsylvania/West Virginia Region, Verizon Wireless. "The nearly $2 billion we've invested into our Ohio network has kept us ahead of consumer trends, provided our customers a 3G advantage and underscored our belief that any mobile device is only as good as the network it runs on. Proactive and sustained investment has made Verizon Wireless the 3G leader in Ohio and nationwide."
Harnessing the Capabilities of a Robust 3G Network
Verizon Wireless' 3G network powers many leading mobile multimedia services, including:
-- Mobile Broadband Internet Access: Notebook computer users can access
e-mail, download files and browse the Internet at broadband speed,
downloading a one megabyte e-mail attachment - the equivalent of a small
PowerPoint® presentation or a large PDF file - in about eight seconds
and uploading it in less than 13 seconds.
-- V CAST Video: V CAST multimedia services offer customers the ability to
play cutting-edge 3D games and stream video clips straight to their
phones, as well as to watch dozens of on-demand videos, including
breaking news, weather, sports highlights and entertainment clips.
Sustained Wireless Investment
The company has invested more than $60 billion since its inception to increase the wireless voice and data coverage of its national network and to add 3G services like Mobile Broadband and V CAST. As the carrier with America's largest and most reliable wireless network, Verizon Wireless cell sites in Ohio provide 3G wireless data connectivity.
Engineering America's Most Reliable Wireless Network
The company's 'America's most reliable wireless network' reputation is based on network studies performed by test men and test women throughout the country. By traversing more than one million miles annually on Interstate, U.S. and state highways, as well as major roads and surface streets in high-population areas-the equivalent of two roundtrips to the moon or 40 trips around the world-the test men and women confirm that voice calls and data connections are successful on the first attempt and stay connected. Vehicles are equipped with computers that automatically make more than 3.5 million voice call attempts and more than 19 million data tests annually on Verizon Wireless' network and the networks of other carriers.

New Office Camera in HoverCam Line of Cameras at CES
SAN DIEGO, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Pathway Innovations and Technologies, Inc. introduces HoverCam Office Camera for document imaging and visual communication for professional and home offices. Office Camera is a new category of all-in-one office imaging products championed by Pathway Innovations and Technologies, Inc. with applications in the areas of document scanning, video-conferencing, video presentation, and with a break-through form factor that makes it a cost effective tool for every desktop or office on the go. The device also finds unique applications in assisting visually impaired individuals.
Scanners found in most MFCs (multi-functional copiers) scan a document line-by-line in a sweeping motion, while the HoverCam® Office Camera captures an entire page of document in a single snapshot action with an aerial-positioned high-resolution lens. The "scanning" is done instantly, and the image quality is excellent for most scanning applications. This not only saves time, but produces lifelike digital copies of the document.
The HoverCam has a slender vertical configuration with a tiny footprint, making it a convenient space saving imaging device. It is a daily office tool, just as essential and easily accessible as keyboard and mouse. All HoverCam models can be retracted to be highly portable, fitting into briefcases and even pockets. Mobile professionals can "scan" contracts, forms, invoices, receipts, and notes anytime anywhere.
In addition to the scanning functionality, the HoverCam is also an HD web cam, displaying and recording 1080P real time video of a document and the presenter at the same time. It can be used as an enhanced video capturing device for Skype, Webex, or GoToMeeting, or be combined with HoverCam Flex software for web shared whiteboard and picture-in-picture conferencing.
In office settings, HoverCam Office Cameras can be used in a wide variety of scenarios, from sales training, product demos, communicating ideas, collaborative works, document imaging, capturing engineering parts along with paperwork, organizing receipts, to magnifying objects or text-to-speech for the visually-impaired.
We have two lines of products on the CES Floor: The HoverCam Neo and HoverCam Mini. Product is shipping first half of 2011. (CES Booth# 35955)
The HoverCam Neo performs quick scans of documents and records full motion HD video at 1080p resolution. The Neo can be connected directly to a projector and work with a whiteboard. With its dual camera design, the HoverCam Neo simultaneously presents drawings, printed materials and 3D objects. Picture-In-Picture capability and built-in conferencing software make the Neo an essential tool for any office space.
There are three models in the Neo line with a range of resolutions:
Neo 5p: 9 Megapixels with "InstantScan" Technology, 1080p Full Motion HD Video, HDMI and USB 2.0 outputs
Neo 5i: 5 Megapixels with "InstantScan" Technology, 720p Full Motion HD Video, HDMI and USB
Neo 3: 3 Megapixels with "InstantScan" Technology, 17fps UVC 720p video via PC or MAC.
